Rentiul

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Rentiul - a creature of New York City urban legend, said to stalk apartment complexes at night; descriptions of its appearance by purported eyewitnesses are generally incoherent and inconsistent, save that it is almost always described as being a gaunt humanoid with stumps for feet, whose footsteps can be heard long before it is seen, and that it can pick locks with its fingertips - some have compared it to the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth. What it does to its victims varies wildly, and why is unclear (some say its purpose is to punish those who have sinned against the building in some way, but if this is its purpose, it is extremely inconsistent about it); some conspiracy rumors claim the urban legend was created and spread by the NYPD or CIA as cover for their agents' black ops activities; there have been multiple reports of it breaking into people's rooms while they were asleep, pinning them down, and proceeding to smear chocolate cake frosting and marshmallow fluff all over their faces...in other cases, victims just disappear forever.
