Sticky Bomb

Prerequisite: Alchemist 10

Benefit: The effects of the alchemist’s bombs are persistent and continue to damage creatures for 1 round after the initial damage. Creatures that take a direct hit from a sticky bomb take the splash damage 1 round later. Bombs that have effects that would normally occur 1 round later instead have those effects occur 2 rounds later.

-------------------------------------------------------

The part on bold means.... that if I throw 3 Sticky Bombs in the same round then one of them will do the splash dmg 1 round later, the 2nd two rounds later and the 3rd three rounds later and so on?

I swore of Papa Johns a while back in favor of locally owned pizza places. For me, I like my pizza sauce tangy, but not overly so.

I am inclined to agree heavily. Though I live in brooklyn, so it is a sin punishable by public stoning to order from a national chain pizza place when you can literally not throw an alchemist bomb in my neighborhood without serious odds of hitting a pizzeria.

That said, what is your ideal workday lunch?

Example: Robot, Annihilator
Weakness: vulnerable to electricity
Resist: electricity 30

Lets say that enemy got hit by a maximized electricity Dragon Breath for 12d6 = 72 dmg

1. Which will be applied first, Vulnerability or Resist element?

2. Resistances and Vulnerabilities go after or before the reflex save?

3. How much damage will it take if successfully save?

4. How much damage will it take if fail the save?

1. What is magic capital? Ultimate Campaign doesn't detail it beyond "magic power at your disposal."

2. How do crypts and observation domes generate magic capital?

3. What bonuses would powerful magic, like a lyre of building or polymorph any object, give to generating capital?

4. How would powerful spells that have no limit on targets, like charm monster and weird, affect mass combat?

I know the currecnt incarnation of caltrops are a holdover from 3.5 D&D. If you could redo them, how would they function? Caltrops are not used much and when they are, they are not much of a hindrance.

Related note: those shoes that spew caltrops as you run are AWESOME.

Ultimate Campaign questions:

1) Is young characters like the Young template (one size smaller, CR-1), or is it something different.

2) Shouldn't Aristocrat be in the same age as Adept and Warrior (it has the same proficiencies as the Warrior and the second biggest skills list after the Bard)?

3) Why less traits? It could be less skill/save/etc boosting/giving ones...

4) what would be the starting wealth of PCs with NPC classes?

Greetings Jason, I got a few questions for you.

Gloves, Poisoner’s:
Each glove may be filled with a single dose of poison, a potion, alchemist infusion, holy water, or similar liquid as long as the liquid would not harm the gloves (for example, alchemist’s fire and acid cannot be used). The wearer can deliver the dose to a target as a melee touch attack or as part of an unarmed strike or natural attack with the hands (such as a claw or slam attack). The wearer can use both gloves in the same round using two-weapon fighting or multiple natural attacks (such as 2 slams or 2 claws). Each glove can be used once per day. Filling a glove is a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity.

(1).Jason, Im an alchemist, can I use any type of infusion spell like for example ''true strike'' or ''targeted bomb admixture'' and deliver it has a touch attack with the poisoners gloves? or does it have to be restricted to ONLY ''range touch'' spells in order to deliver them with these gloves?

(2).Jason, Ring of sustenance pretty much lets me craft an extra 6 hours a day because I only have to rest 2 hours a day, if you were a DM, would you consider this has completly '' manipulation of the rules''? if you were a DM, would you bann the ring of sustenance so I can't get extra hours for crafting potions inside of it? Is it overpowered or not intended to work this way?

(3).Jason, when Ring of sustenance was reworked and reworded, did you guys knew that crafters were gona gain advantage of it? are you guys considering of ''nerfing'' or ''fixing'' this ring so crafters can't get advantage out of it?

(4).Jason, if you were a DM, would you restrict or completly bann ''Bag of holding'' + ''Life Bubble'' cleric spell combo so I can't craft inside a bag of holding? do you think its overpowered? would you bann the bag of holding or restrict it so ''NO LIVING THING'' can enter inside of it?

(5).Jason, At 10th level, a beastmorph’s mutagen grants him three of the abilities listed in the beast shape II spell, which persist as long as the mutagen. He may select three different abilities each time he creates a mutagen.
Does beastmorph archetype from the alchemist gives me to choose from the stat bonuses below the chart? ''Tiny +4 size bonus to dex'' or only the upper abilities like fly, scen, darkvision, borrow, etc?

(6).Jason, Journal of the Beast Within (Level 10 Alchemist) says that it gives you an extra +2 bonus to DEX when using a mutagen, what if I have Cognotagen instead? would it work with it has well? or its pretty much restricted to ''Mutagen only effect''?

(7).Jason, has an alchemist, how would you make a familiar usefull? is he only good for scouting and thats it? is there anything else he can do? what would you personally do with a familiar?

(8).Jason, Fiendish Heritage feat says that it gives 2 diferent options, one take a Tiefling variant from the first table which give you diferent stat bonuses and the second option would be to choose or roll randomly from the 100 diferent abilities from the second table.
So my question is, once I pick this feat at level 1, can I stick with the original Tiefling stat bonuses(+2 dex/+2int/-2cha) without taking any of the 10 demon variants heritages but still take one of the 100 variant abilities offerd in the second table?

(9).Jason, can I enchant a celestial armor? if you were a DM, would you let your players enchant a celestial armor?

Thank you for your time, have a great day!.

Wow... that is a lot of rules questions for a thread that I am not sure I want to devolve into a lot of rules questions.

If folks want answers to rules question, they should really start them in the appropriate forum. If I start answering them here this will become a nexus of rules questions, and there is no way I could keep up (nor could anyone else find the answers easily later).

Sounds like your sinister rules master reputation is catching up to you...

1) You already mentioned some monsters you like, but I think they were from Bestiary 1...what are some of your favorite monsters from Bestiary 2? How about 3? I would ask about 4...but then I would probably be smote.

2) Are there any archetypes you think were particularly fun/clever/flavorful? A few favorites...

3) You said you like to play wizards...so I'm presuming you must have a few favorite spells in the game...whether just because they're good, useful spells...fun experiences or memories of unorthodox uses...or just the roleplaying they allow...care to share a few?

4) Which of the planes...outside of the easy Material Plane...is your favorite, and what do you like about it?

5) Got any favorite magical items? Care to share which, and why you like them?

6) Do you read a lot of books for research purposes, like studying building layouts or real world cultures or history or statistics or other things like that...if so, what kinds do you read, and would you recommend any of them in particular?

7) Is a wizard an effeminate pantywaist if he uses prestidigitation to make hard alcohol taste like a fruity drink? Is he still one if it's really terrible rotgut?

8) What's the silliest character you've ever played in a game?

9) Have you ever been forced to the terrible extremes of having to throw cheetos at players? Did you regret it afterwards, or did you move on, never looking back?

10) What's your favorite way to eat eggs? Scrambled? Boiled? Over easy?

Jason on which forum are the appropriate? Ill make the questions over there. Thank you.

In your mind, what's the canonical source of a summoner's magic? Is it his imagination? Where does the eidolon come from?

If you just want to write whatever you want about the non-rules aspects of the summoner, that'd be sweet too :)

Yeah, unfortunately, we do not remotely have enough hours in the day to ask all the rules questions that get posted to these forums, if we did, we would never get any work done on our upcoming books. This thread is really just for fun, giving folks a chance to ask us oddball questions.

1. B2 - Ravener, B3 - Graveknight.. I have a thing for undead.

2. Hmm.. so many. Well, my favorite archetype, and this is a bit of a dodge is all the sorcerer bloodlines, which is kinda where I got the idea for archetypes in the first place.
3. You can never go wrong with disintegrate.. the wizards catch all problem solver.
4. I am gonna go with hell, the structure of the various levels has always been fun.
5. Not particularly.. depends on the character Im playing.
6. When designing Pathfinder I went back and reread all of the books that inspired Gary and Dave, so lots of Lieber, Moorcock, Vance, and Howard.
7. Yes and yes.
8. Back in my Living City days I played a cleric of Nerull that had escaped Grayhawk through ravenloft and had a swarm of undead chickens... he was silly.
9. Cheetoes no.. dice yes.
10. Omelets... I make a mean omelet.

If you just want to write whatever you want about the non-rules aspects of the summoner, that'd be sweet too :)

The initial idea for the summoner basically came from the following statement "wouldn't it be cool if there was a character where you get the play the monster". There were a lot of references, but many of the mechanics came from the concept of letting you build your own monster pet.

When I was a teen, I came down with a horrible infection that was slowly causing my throat to close up. Round after round of doc visits and various meds had no effect. They thought I had a cold or strep, but all the tests came back negative. They finally gave me full spectrum antibiotics and it cleared.. but it was really bad by then.

Turns out my immunization to Hemophilus influenzae type B did not hold when I was a kid and I had caught the bug. Probably would have killed me if it had run another couple of days.

Yeah, I am not sure how James finds hours in the day to maintain that thread.. its crazy.

Most of the time, you can get rules questions sorted out here on our boards, when they can't come to an answer, they get hit with the FAQ flag, which brings them to our attention. Its the best way to get them solved because the answers end up in one central FAQ location. If I start answering them here, they will eventually end up lost, and the same questions then get asked over and over.

Its the only system that works to get answers out to folks in a more permanent fashion. So.. while I can certainly answer questions here, I dont want to get folks in the habit of expecting them in this thread, because its not a very good resource in the long run.

Are there any animals you would not approve of lycanthropes based on?

titan were-rocs!

Jason, have you ever seen the show Black Adder? if so, what did you think of it?

Jason, what is the reasoning behind monstrous cohorts being so much weaker than a level-equivalent NPC? The example that comes to mind is the CR 3 unicorn requiring a cohort level of 8.

Hey Jason, maybe you should change the thread title with your moderator powers to be " >>Ask *Jason Bulmahn* ALL your (non-rules) Questions Here!<< " ?

Couldn't they all do that?

Dark Archive

On the one hand, this being the Off-Topic Discussion forum and not the Rules forum, it should be implicit that the questions and answers will be non-canonical, for the most part.

On the other hand, the title does say 'ALL' your questions, and not 'SOME' of your questions... :)

And a question for Brewmeister Buhlman;

1) Honey mead. Like it? Make it? Not so much?

Monsters tend to get abilities that the PCs could not normally access, so we tend to restrict them to balance things out. Just look at the unicorn's spell like abilities for example.

It does say "all", but as I said, if we make it all about rules, it will quickly become quite the mess.

As for Honey mead, I like it, but not so much as to inspire me to brew it.

Well... not really, but anything I write has to be a fit for the game, which gives me relatively wide latitude.

Hey sweet, my suggestion spell worked! Thankfully there's that 'very reasonable suggestion' clause :)

Thanks for all the work clearing up spell-like abilities yesterday. It was previously a fairly complicated system, and it seemed like all of my top questions I wanted to see answered were related to spell-like abilities.

I was telling a coworker about the changes in, and we were giggling at all the possibilities it opens up :)

Eh, what's that Cheapy? Can you link to what you're talking about?

Pendin Fust wrote:

The first link. The main mindblowing-ness happens about 2/3rds down the first page.

The related FAQs. Just search for spell-like abilities.

Basically...before yesterday, there were a lot of divides between SLAs and spells. Yesterday, many of them were smashed into itty bitty pieces.

As I mentioned, we work on the FAQ whenever we have time to devote to solving up some issues. That one finally made it to the top of the pile.

The work continues...

Thanks Cheapy and Jason!

Wow and the item creation stuff! Yay!!

Hello Mr. Bulmahn, I was wondering how to get clarification if, if a faq requests gets answered with the Staff response "no reply required"?

Redward asked the developer of hero lab (in January), why the courageous weapon enhancement didn't improve the bonus from rage.

He got this reply:

Quote:
Increasing the effectiveness of every other morale bonus on the character would be an incredibly large benefit, and would be worth far more than a +1 enhancement. My reading of this ability is that if anything else grants a morale bonus to saves vs. fear, that specific bonus gets improved, which keeps this enhancement useful when someone casts bless.

I send another ticked some days ago, and asked for a reevaluation of the issue and got this reply:

Lone Wolf Development Support wrote:

I'm sorry, but we're still hoping that Paizo clarifies the way this power is intended to work. Before we spend many hours finding every ability in Pathfinder that grants a morale bonus, and altering it to change the amount of its bonus if the courageous power is active on an equipped weapon, we'd like to be certain that we're implementing what will be the final rules for this power, and we won't have to undo all that work when this item is errata-ed.

So my question is, what is the correct way to resolve this issue (considering that the first faq request didn't resolve the issue)? Should we try to faq it again?

To end on a happier note, I am very exited for the mystic rules and hope that gen con won't delay my subscription shipment this time. ^^

Actually, he now mostly only answers really simple ones or design/campaign ones like about world building. JJ refers many to the Rules forum. And, that's good.

I'm a little confused. Why doesn't courageous work with rage? I've never seen that as an issue.

Lone Wolf thinks that increasing the bonus to rage is too overpowered, so they do not think that it's the intention to do so.

I see. That doesn't really seem like an FAQ required thread. More like someone making an assumption about a rule, instead of a lack of clarity.

For the record, I don't think it's overpowered.

I remember quite well, when people started to receive their ultimate equipment and postet the first spoilers. An amulet of mighty fists with courageous was one of the first powerfull ideas posted.

It might be a quite a bit of work to implement this, after all a barbarian with a bard in the party and heroism. would get quite a bit of power from his +2 furious courageous greatsword (+2 on pretty much everything).

For what it's woth getting a simple "yes, it increases every moral bonus" from someone at paizo might be enough.

This should not trouble me all that much, but when I started to prepare NPCs with while raging... well it's a bit untidy to add the bonus manually.
