'New' Third Party Warlock: The Invoker

One of the most popular requests for classes has been an updated version of the warlock from 3.5. Due to the popularity of the request, and the lack of fanfare about it, I thought a post about Little Red Goblin Games' Invoker would be warranted.

Remember how the 2nd edition Evocation school of magic was called Invocation/Evocation? I always liked the word Invocation. Have you looked at the material?

I don't see any reviews for this product....or much discussion on what it's like......can anyone give opinions ?

I started reading it last night, but got distracted by a cat. I'll probably finish reading it tonight.

That looks interesting. Any reviews you could link as to the quality of the Invoker? I'd love to have a good Warlock substitute/update I can point people towards rather than the incomplete Tome of Secrets warlock.

I'm probably the "odd man out" as I'm not really interested in a re-make of the 3.5 warlock "blaster".

I'm more interested in something that runs like a spellcaster with a bit of binding involved....

Let us know what you think Cheapy....I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

First impressions after reading a bit of it is that it could've used a harder hit with the Developer Stick. The focus on pacts is a bit stronger than the 3.5 version, and you can choose who you make a pact with (which gives things like a bloodline), but the main bit is still the blasty-ray. Pact Magic Unbound might be more up your alley nighttree.

Still, better than the ToS one.

That said, it's not bad so far. It's 26 pages of content, and it's definitely not Paizo quality. But I haven't run away from it in terror yet.

I think that the Diabolist prestige class is pretty close to what I think a Warlock should be and it's from Paizo so I don't see a need (personally) to create another 3PP class for it...

Liberty's Edge

I recall seeing an archetype somewhere that you applied to a 6th level or above spell caster that took their casting away but gave them blasting and something else, maybe witch's hexes? That's been my favorite take on it so far, but I don't recall where I saw it.

Hey guys, just as a heads up we did some errata for it a while back (Not sure if it stuck on paizo.com). It's actually been one of our more popular classes. We have an update coming for it slotted in on our dev schedule.

I like the different pacts flavour, but I'd hold to the idea of making a Warlock as a spontaneous witch in regard to spellcasting.

That would seem like an important thing to know. . .

Paizo limits us to 1 file here. If it's not in the PDF I'll post up the extra PDF with the errata as a separate file.

Liberty's Edge

Is there not some way to just download it and see what it is? Or to upload the new file in place of the old one?

I do multiple files for a product all the time especially for the Fantastic maps line.

Interesting, it's removed my previous upload when I tired to update it. I will talk with Liz about that. We will see what we can do when we are in the office tomorrow. We are prepping a revised version at the moment as we move to print as well.

Are "patron's rewards" at 7th and 13th level additional pact boons gained? It's not specified in the text.
I'm trying to build a character replacing incantations with spontaneous spellcasting from the witch spell list, plus lists of pact spells and Arcane Blast as a bonus feat as 1st level in place of the Mystic Blast power. It seems a satisfying warlock.^^ I'm also trying to devise new pacts (Nature or Celestial pact for neutral/good characters, Grave pact for undead-themed warlocks).

Is the update out? I noticed some issues about the Star Pact.
There are only four boons, and a taboo seems a little wrong. It says "as if the invoker were chaotic" and "if the invoker is chaotic", but the Pact requires her to be', so what?

Thanks for bumping this! Might have to look into this.

The Devilish pact has only four taboos too...

Also going to add that the Fey pact boon "Fey Spirit" ends with the line "and all invokers with the fey pact as though they" leaving it unfinished.

Hey guys sorry for the thread necromancy but the new and improved invoker is up on DriveThru and submitted to Paizo (not sure if it's updated. We submitted Sat).

Thanks for the feedback! We will be offering more support for this class in the future!
