OK, Imagine you are in an interesting position - you are CEO of Paizo - You have decided to mix up the Superstar competition, so have taken 8 golden tickets away from the judges.

You think the judges need to feel some of the pain that they inflict to bring a new level of sensitivity to the reviews :P

So in order to get their golden tickets back, what tasks would you set for each judge and why?

E.g. If Neil were judging (which he isn't hence I can use as an example)

Neil, I will give both tickets back if, for all items reviewed for the remainder of the current round, every single review is less than 200 words. And no, you cannot post multiple times to get around it.

Why? So Anthony's word count can catch up :P

I'd slap them with a glove or gauntlet and throw it on the ground.

That's a classic.

Come on, you can do better than old meme.

How about...

d300 to get a page in the NPC Codex.

Put the NPC's they rolled in an arena in the PF online game and have them duke it out PVP style.

Winner (as in last NPC standing) gets all 8 golden tickets and can distribute amongst the dead, if they so wish, or they could keep all 8 as victory spoils.

Dedicated Voter Season 6

Print all top-32 items ever made onto playing cards and duke it out in an old-style card vs. card game.

Judge A: Clockwork Conscience for 22,000 gp!

Judge B: Pahhahahahaaa, eat my Feywhisper Crown for 60,400 gp!! And you voted for it :-p

How about 12th level PCs with standard wealth by level, but limited to items from the top 32 for the last few years?

Or better yet, make a party of PCs made with the above rule, then have them go through a dungeon with the top 16 monsters?

He He

How about - The judges write the most difficult adventure proposals thier mind can invent in under 2,000 words.

We the public vote on them.

Then, when the winner is revealed, the judge with the fewest votes has to write the winning adventure proposal!

AND THEN have it publicly reviewed by Neil Spicer! :D

By the way guys n gals...

7 DAYS to the Voting opens

FIVE to get your entry in - I would treat that as FOUR to be safe!!

(just time enough for me to get a couple more songs done :P)

Submit a wondrous item (anonymously) and get in the top 32 of public voting. They could then swap the spot they won with a golden ticket item.

I have often said, and I will say it again, I could NOT win RPG Superstar. I just don't think I'm good enough to bring it every single round. I don't know if people realize how hard that is. :) I don't think Ryan could either since he is more producer than content creator (not to diss his content creation). Sean, Erik, Wolfgang, they could all win. Neil has already won, of course, so he could do it. I bet Lisa could win it, too. :) She tries to seem all business-ey, but she is a serious gamer and super-creative. You know James could. Jason for sure. Wes most definitely (I am so impressed with him, in fact I might put my money on him to win an "all Paizo" superstar among all staff and normal freelancers, I think the top 4 would be Wes, Erik, James and Neil. Sean would probably get voted out early due to revenge all the freelancers would take on him for all the years of product turnover, imagine their glee!).

I will say this for myself, I would hope after all these years I could create an item that could make the Keep folder.

I think that would be so much fun for Paizo's fans... Like an all-star edition of Chopped or Iron Chef.

Measure the pain our reviews cause, then multiply it tenfold, and you will begin to understand the amount of pain we experience dealing with the Bottom 32. ;)

IOW, you don't need to punish us more than we already bring upon ourselves. ;)

Humble apologies.

I did not mean to cause any offence.

This thread was supposed to be pure light-hearted fun and was meant in a good natured way. I feel so bad it didn't come across that way.

Again, very sorry.

Oh come now Anthony, the man smiled :-)

Don't dis his sense of humor, I'm fairly sure all the judges have it in abundance, or they would have gone mad long ago. And besides, since you and I both know our items rock this year, they'll be in the forgiving corner soon enough eh? :-P

I wasn't sure and mum always told me if you think you have caused upset, be man enough to apologise.

Anyways, getting away from the meme's, how about de-railing this thread entirely...

Deciding that the competition between the judges should be fun for them, and widening it to an inter-company free-for-all to give everyone the holiday bounce, you are changing the rules...

It will now be an It's a Knockout series of events with Teams formed as follows:

Team 1: Anyone not in teams 2-4
Team 2: Designers, Writers, Interns and FreeLancers
Team 3: Paizo Sales and Management
Team 4: RPG Superstar Judges and Winners

If you fit in more than one team, you go to the team with the highest number!

Now, do try to come up with original It's a Knockout style events for these teams to play.

The events MUST be based on Pathfinder classes, Golarion setting gods and organisations. No event can replicate previous events choices, so with Round 1, no body else can do Cavalier :P

So I will start with the Jousting Tourney based on mounted Cavaliers...

Each Team participates in a random draw to see who's team meets who in the first round, the winners going on to meet in the second round.

Jokers may be played in this event.

Two people from each team make a horses head and rear in the usual 8 foot tall foam rubber comedy horsey.

The cavalier gets on, wielding Styrofoam lance and wearing padded foam armor - their helmets sporting a 4 foot tall colored feather representing their team (and also to provide comical balancing issues.

They joust in pairs until the losers are unseated (whether by being knocked off or their horse collapsing - its the same thing)

Then the winning cavaliers joust to determine the overall winner.

Now... give me the next events (and show your imaginations)

That's why its break dance fighting not game design...

But if that's not enough throw in mud wrestling with a team of 3rd party designers (though that would put clark in a moral dilemma)

So you're pre-filtering the submissions for more than just outright wordcount / IP violations? I kinda thought that was our job to do for you, this time. It's probably a mercy, though I'll own to some morbid curiosity. I guess I still need to target 'guest judge' status one year to get the full tome of eye bleeding horrors effect.

You can also be DQ'd for "Submission does not conform to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game." So if the entirety of your item is something like this:

"It's a spherical ruby, and by speaking the command word it summons an elemental. And the type of elemental is random each time."

... then it's a goner.

Yes, that is an item I made up.

Wow way to invest time and effort. That's like showing up to a job interview 3 hours late in ripped jeans, flip flops and an offensive T-shirt, while hammered.

S'funny, for all the horrid stuff you can read on this forum, I still have a feeling this round is never going to be a pushover. In many ways the public voting is a blessing - makes the wait slightly easier to endure to have something to do!

Last year you got an item of 1,000+ words. Has it happened this year or anything close to that?

Bad Mother Fraker Wallet

Caster level - your mama
Aura - overwhelmingly awesome
Cost - blood sacrifice
This is a brown leather wallet that says "Bad Mother Fraker" on the outside. The wallet takes 24hrs to attune to its carrier, once it has the wallet can sense when combat has begun and act in the surprise round. The wallet protects its user by making them and up to 1 adjacent ally ethereal for 1 round. Typically the wallet does this when the wearer is surprised during the surprise round, the wallet can do this only once per day.

Next round:
Snakes on a ship fighter (Ranger Archetype)

What, no hubcaps of shame? No walk of the thousand four siders?

Ok, then. An apology contest. That's right, an old fashioned apology-off. Most sincere apology wins 1 Golden Ticket.

Round 2: Roshambo?.... what, no memes allowed?

Ok, Round Two: Beard Growing Contest: three days to glory and golden ticket #2

Round Three: "Seven Minutes in Heaven" with a roper, roper decides the winner.....

Gosh, this is hard :P
