I missed out on the original RC - finances didn't allow me to do just about in RPGs back then. Probably a blessing all things considered.
After having done the Rappan Athuk Kickstarter, I think it's safe to say that I'm going to be on board for this one!
Especially looking forward to the ship-to-ship stuff for use professionally. :)
Here's hoping its open to be used in a Third Dawn Maquoran Fleetnbased adventure!
Anyway, will definitiely be saving some pennies for this as best I can. Almost wish it was starting just a little bit later for tax return time, but I will be seeing what I can do.

Evilgasm. Seriously. If this one's a success, any chance for Ebon Shroud as well? Perhaps a DARK imprint for FGG?
One may dream...
If Bill, Greg and Logue want Ebon Shroud to happen, I'm game.
There is an awful lot of dark nastiness in that one, and to be honest, it probably shoudln't see the light of day. If there's a wish to see it, however, perhaps it should slither into the daylight...
But I want a copy of Razor Coast as a perk.

Please do Ebon Shroud! While I will have to pledge to that one from my casket (my wile would kill me!), I'll do it. Of all the Logue stuff from back in those days, ES is the one that I *really* *really* wanted!

This is really great news. I had pre-ordered the original RC, but had really given up hope and asked for my money back, which Nick did. I know that Nick & Lou had done a lot of work on this one, and it whould have been a bit disappointing if it did not get released. it is good to see that they are picking up some of the old abandoned projects and turning them into quality projects.
With all that said, FGG is becoming a power house in the RP industry. Tsar & Rappan Athuk are probably the top adventures that have been released this year. Just massive works of gaming goodness.
My thanks to the FGG crew for picking up this one, and I hope that they also pick up Pett's Ebon Shroud.

Hi David,
The plan is for you to have two choices if the Kickstarter funds:
Option 1 - you can just hang in there, not spend a dime more, and FGG will send you a copy of Razor coast. It's over twice the size of the original and currently planned as hard cover, color.
Option 2 - Or you can come in as a backer and Frog God will automatically bump you to a higher level after the project closes. That higher level will include a signed & numbered copy of Razor Coast, a copy of the Razor Coast Player's Guide, and other cool stuff.
Option 2 looks great.
Are you guys happy you know who the original purchasers are? I've never been in touch about Razor Coast because I was holding out for the actual product. I still have the order confirmation email from 2009 (promising the book in November ...), is that sufficient?

One of the tasks necessary to make this a possibility included cleaning up then extracting all of Nick's Pay Pal receipts from over 3,000 Sinister emails and entering those receipts into a spreadsheet -- both purchases made and money's refunded.
That's done.
I should have everyone who purchased on my sheet. At this point the email you used to purchase or even just your name should be enough for me to find anyone's transaction record. And that's before I go back to the original receipts in case you didn't enter your name or used someone else's/a defunct email address.
One request: please hold off querying me for confirmation of your pre-order status a mite longer. I just can't possibly handle the volume of requests any longer.
However, I'm trying to create an automated solution to make it easier for all. Maybe a web page where people can put in their email addresses and get a confirmation of their pre-order status back? Not quite sure yet.
Bottom line: worry not. If you purchased it, one way or another, we know about it. As soon as possible -- so will you. :)

I missed the boat on the original razor coast release (perhaps to my own benefit), but I am curious about this. I have a couple FGG products already including the hardcovers of Tsar and ToH. I like their work and would love to know more about this product. Any chance we could get some additional details?

This was the original blurb from back in 2009, although it sounds like there is going to be a lot of other stuff as well in the new one.
The Razor Coast
by Nicolas LogueA sea of blood caresses the savage shore of the Razor. Port Shaw is beset by land and sea. Rising from the abyssal depths, Harthagoa, the bastard spawn of kraken and demon drags whole fleets beneath the waves. In the fetid Blacksink Marsh, where unspeakable horrors are sunk beneath the bog water, accursed cannibals pay gory obeisance to an ancient shark god of slaughter.
A ghostly armada, murderous pirates, and bale-sharks prowl the seas. Meanwhile foreign invaders in search of baleen, ambergris, and gold menace the native Tulita tribes, driving them from their ancestral home with smoke-belching cannonade.
Pele, The Goddess of Fire and Wrack, watches all from her smoldering throne on Dreadsmoke mountain. She stands ever ready to purge the people of Port Shaw from her domain in a torrent of ash and molten lava. You decide the fate of the Razor Coast - A Dark Vista in dire need of heroes.
Razor Coast is a 130+ mega-adventure by Nicolas Logue for 4th to 12th level characters. Using an exciting and entirely non-linear plot web format Razor Coast allows you and your players to brave wild adventures in any way you see fit. Set sail for peril. There will be blood by the bucket-full boyos.

The condensed version of all the speculation is this: if you have ever liked anything Nic has done, and/or you like pirates AT ALL, this set is amazing. Its one of the best water-borne adventures (campaigns) ever. Its got some crazy, Only-Nic-would-think-of-this type stuff, and has plenty of options for play, so you never have to play the same scenario twice.
And the Kickstarter is going to be awesome. we have some very cool goals in the works. Heck, my wife wants to throw a bunch of money in to get some of the bennies....

I do like all the stuff (I know about) done by N. Logue, and pirates are ok, but - and I hope the fanatics keep at bay - I just have to ask:
Are there options to completely ignore cannons/gunpowder/rifle and related stuff?Ruyan.
It does involve gunpowder stuff, but you can easily replace with magic or ignore as you see fit. A gunpowder campaign is not necessary for play
Thanael |
O shut up and take my money!
Lou can you set it up to send out an email to all preorderers reminding them of the kickstarter ?
Louis Agresta Contributor |
That's a good idea, Thanael. I'll look into sending out such an email.
@RuyanVe -- you can totally ignore the cannons/gunpowder/rifle stuff.
Inspired by something Owen K. Stephens once remarked, I'm considering a sidebar to explain how to replace everything gunpowder with clockwork crossbow weapons. Or magic.

Thank you, this is the sort of information i would want with perhaps updates regarding what may have changed since 2009 or has been added with FGG's plans if I am going to back the kickstarter. What I see here has be very excited. I can see why some many people jumped on board with this.

This so rocks, I was a pre-orderer, but I took the money back (thanks to Lou!). But I will be back in with great big bells on!
RC had me since I saw the Reynolds art, that shark-fella just oozes style.
Thankfully I don't even need to do my pledge on Xmas Day, being in NZ means it won't be open til Boxing Day local. I'll be putting my money down on a big box of RC-FGG evil goodness.
Now back to awaiting some other FGG boxes, bloody Pacific is too big :(

Hmm. I pre-ordered, and don't remember seeing that preview.
(That doesn't mean I *didn't* see it, only that I don't remember. It's been a long time.)
Option 2 for me, definitely.

There will be many. many reminders, posted where ever we can! Plus, you guys need to spread this around, word of mouth is a very powerful thing. We found out that getting a bunch of people to pledge is almost better then getting high dollar pledges (you can only ask for so much out of people).
So if you want the VERY cool add-ons, you guys better all get a gang together...

I'm thinking that we might need an extra forum just for Razor-Coast-to-Skull-&-Shackles-mashup-advice.
The indulgences (and Nick's other work) whetted my appetite so sharply that it could slice tempered steel. And then the wait, oh the wait...
So its now antique tempered steel and thus worth more?
