Is snapleaf a single use?

Reading through the ultimate equipment I came across the slotless item snapleaf that does not say anything about having to break it in order to activate, one of my players also caught on to this and being able to activate feather fall and invisibility as much as you want? seems overpowered but it seems like it is a single shot item. Anyone answer this for me?

If common sense, game balance and 'too good to be true' doesn't work, you could post the text of the item for those of us without books handy.

This crystalline carving looks like a hand-sized tree leaf. It is usually work around the neck on a strap so it is within easy reach, but can be affixed to a belt or clothing just like a badge. Activating a Snapleaf is an immediate action and gives the bearer the benefits of Feather fall and invisibility. The durations of the two effects work independently; ending one early does not affect the other. The item cannot be activated to provide just one of these two effects; they are always activated simultaneously.

I totally thought the thread title said "Smugleaf".

I expected something quite different.

Unless it's in a section of one-use items or something, then as written it doesn't seem to be one use only. It's clearly intended to be that way, though.

Maybe when they fix it they'll include a caster level so you know how long the invisibility lasts.

Wow that entry is full of editorial fail...
For that price it has GOT to be a one use item.

Let your player know that that is how you are ruling it and if he has issues, have a goblin Snatch it and be done with it.

it is a caster level 5th. Well it is under slotless items sections so it is a bit hazy but the way it reads it seams like you can just jump 10 feet and now your feather falling and invisible, and for 750 not crafting it, when a ring of feather falling costs 2,200gp and a ring of invisibility costs 20,000gp

Wow, and it doesn't list an activations per day limit? Cripes. If it was 1/day, I could call it reasonable. But like this? Oy.

Even 1/day is too powerful for the cost. I'd rule it a one time activation, like a feather token.

If I recall, the snapleaf was an RPG Superstar entry originally. Lemme see if I can't dig it up on the boards...

Yep, I was right. 2010 RPG Superstar entry. Thread here.

Funny thing is, the judges were discussing the same thing. Looks like the editors dropped the ball on this one. I actually commented on this one. Last thing I wrote: "The item description definitely needs some editing and polish."

Though that does say "single use".

By golly, you're right. Guess they polished it right out of the description.

The Exchange

they did which is why I am thinking either they accidently left out the fact that it is one time use in the wording or it is really the cheapest form of invisibility and feather fall which I think is kinda over powered for what seems an unlimited use item.

Even as single use it's kind of cheap.

They also changed the invisibility duration from the Superstar entry version. It was 5 rounds from landing. Now I assume it's by caster level, so 5 minutes?

As it was, it was a neat item, incredibly good in limited circumstances.

The unlimited version, at this price, is a must have.

Its made of crystal, leaf shaped and called a Snapleaf. Anyone who thinks it isn't one use needs a whacks with a cluebat.

I was going to say it much more gently, but yea...

It's called snapleaf. It's a single use item :)

Liberty's Edge

I'm sure RAI are clear...but I've been hit with a RAW bat a few times so currently it isn't a one use as written.

So, at minimum it needs to be errata'd.

Other wise, wow. Immediate action to activate, "You're gonna hit me? nah I go invisible.", whenever you feel like it.

I feel dirty, but I gotta argue RAW over RAI we are in the rules forum, not advice. And obviously house rule this to one use until fixed.

You certainly can argue RAW but this item would be a one-use in any but a Monty Haul GM campaign.

Single Use only

if my players didn't want it to be single use, I'd produce entire armies using this thing. The legendary paratroopers, the Invisible Legion would tear cities apart with these items, no armor and Blindfighting (or some other easy feat to help them guess where each other is)

Thanks Cheapy.

Liberty's Edge

Obviously it was needed, but now it's official. Excellent.
