Assuming that the warhorn schedule is complete, we have a full schedule of GM's. In fact there are a few waitlisted GM's. But, if you are really interested in volunteering, there might be GM's willing to give up their slot to you. I never want to stand in the way of a GM seeking five stars.

Tracy,

What "slots" need a GM still for either location? I will be in town Wed and may have an afternoon free. I don't follow the message-boards very much so I'm late, but if you still need someone...let me know plz.

Also, if anyone's doing any hotel gaming. I'm looking for #4-01 to play before I have to "eat" in on Sunday, if we can't Slot 0 in here.

Tiamack

You can take my Midnight Mailer at Scotty's if you want. I just volunteered to make sure the slot was covered while all the VCs are at the dinner.

On 4-01, I would love to play it or even GM it as a slot-0 with others running it at Gen Con. I'm currently set to play something at Scotty's Wed afternoon, but would gladly do 4-01 instead. I could also be convinced to do it late Wed (in our room?).

Liberty's Edge 5/5

I would check with Mike before doing a slot-0 of 4-01 though. Not sure they want it going out publicly like that prior to its premier.

IIRC Tracy was clear that the GMs for Scotty's were not to run any scenario being offered up at Gen Con.

A few of the rooms downstairs are fairly large and a suitcase or 2 would probably not get in the way, as long as you didn't mind storing them in a room that you might not be playing in.

That is definitely an alternative. My awesome VC has also provided me with an option as well. I signed up for City of Strangers Pt. 2 so I think I am all set. God I love PFS!!

I posted last page and heard from Tracy that everything was full, but if there do turn out to be any potential openings, I'd be happy to fill in and GM one of them.

Already checking on that. The suggestion was as a hotel game, so it wouldn't be public anyhow.

The whole reason behind Slot-0's is so that a GM may play it before running it as it often ruins the playability for most players if they know what is to happen (as it is w/ me:(). I understand the non-public aspect as it's a premiere, but to make a table some players that may only ever be players should be allowed...IMHO, or atleast that's the way it used to be handled. It's not supposed to just be to play it before everyone else, but to get the potential GM's ready to GM it better while not spoiling it for themselves.

I appreciate your offer and just need to check one major thing before I accept. I'll let you know in the next 24 hours though if that's not a problem:)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would expect that any GM running an adventure at GenCon would have read it beforehand, so slot zeroing at Gencon so you can play it before reading it, does not compute. From experience, waiting to read an adventure at the con never works. You think you will find a quiet space durng a dinner break or one of your open slots, but there are no quite spaces and someone always manages to find you and start a multi-hour conversaion. A person reading quitely is like waving a sign that says, "TALK TO ME NOW!"

Now if a GM wanred to play it in order to become even more familiar with the adventure, I'd buy that.

Don Walker wrote:

This is my reason for wanting to do it. I figure it would be a good way to work out the kinks, particularly with the switch to 6-player difficulty, more open-ended faction missions, and just wanting to do an awesome job premiering the new season.

Mike Lindner wrote:

This is of particular interest to me. Since the last scenarios to be made available (season 4 & special) to GM's before GenCon are the ones with the new 6-player format, I am just a bit concerned about the time frame to properly prepare said change and/or maybe have an opportunity to play-test.

5/5

Play-test?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

Kyle Baird wrote:

As in run a table or two before the con to get accustomed to the change in power/challenge of a "standard" PFS scenario with respect to the PC's. That increase in NPC/BBEG challenge is likely to impact how a GM approaches preparation, action integration, and application of tactics as written. My default GM'ing style tends to be minimalist with respect to opto/power gameplay. So, if the CR of an encounter is being adjusted up from four players to six (50% increase), I may need to approach encounters differently than before.

I'll sign up on Warhorn and gladly run "Midnight Mauler" as I'm confirmed that I'll have the time.

Blaudy, blah, blah, blah.....LOL. Everyone will have their take on Slot-O's and what they mean to them, but they used to be very important as someone usually had to eat them in previous Living Campaigns as you couldn't play it once you'd ran it.

I simply would love to play it BEFORE I read it...run it, as it then ruins it for me as a player. Now the getting to know the module better or w/e you want to say is ALL very good and is so obvious that it need not be mentioned. But, for me, I'd love to play it before I run it and thus the question to see if anyone's going to do anything as such.

The way we do it here in Indy is that we have a gaming group of some of the PFS GMs that meets up every other week and we use it as our Slot 0. Most recently we used it for a Free RPG event we staged at a local store. I'm not 100% sure what we're doing for Gencon yet, but we'll probably do something comparable.

Personally I've come to a point where I'm pretty ambivalent about playing before running. Somebody has to bite the bullet, plus who really has time to play and run a game when there are a million other scenarios out there? I just got my 3rd guy up to the 7-11 tier and there are tons of scenarios in 3rd season alone that I haven't played or GM'd.

Two weeks to go and two seats left at my table for Dawn of the Scarlet Sun @ 12noon. We've got an "extra wide" slot (thx Tracy!) so it should be a good time at Scotty's...

Are we there yet?

LOL I have 9 players signed up for Rebel's Ransom! This will be my biggest TPK ever! ;-)

Ha! Send some of them over to Arsenal. I'm sure I can kill, uh, I mean "entertain" the rest of them with Haunting of Hinojai (only 1 player signed up for it so far too).

Don't worry Glen. I'm only running a table of 5. :-)

For those of us (me) who are new to Scotty's, can someone post the address? According to the website, there are a few Scotty's in Indianapolis.

Kyle and Tracy,

I'd happily volunteer to switch from playing midnight mauler to GMing a second table of Rebel's Ransom, assuming there is room.

5/5

1 Virginia Avenue # 100

This is the only one I could find downtown, and the Arsenal is straight down the road, so that ties in too. It's just a couple of blocks from the convention center it looks like.

Except you cannot take Virginia straight southeast until you get to Arsenal. Virginia does a weird jog when southeast bound, right before passing under a parking garage, so that you have to turn back north on Delaware instead. To travel from Scotty's to Arsenal, leave Scotty's headed south on Pennsylvania Street (it runs one way southbound along the west edge of Scotty's). Go south to Maryland Street, turn left. Get in the right hand drive lane, and watch for a right turn immediately after Delaware Street (the next street). Virginia breaks off to the right there at a 45 degree angle and passes under a parking garage. Then proceed down to the Arsenal.

LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!! Hurts.

So are the brave souls (including me) that are playing the 11pm scenario actually going to play? Also, where is that going to be? Unless Scotty's or a place is open to 4 am, I'm not sure where we can play.

Dark Archive 1/5

Isn't there a bus stop right in front of Arsenal Game Room? If so, I believe Bus 14 will help take you to most of the hotels in downtown Indianapolis...if I am right.

I'm still into play! And it sounded like Scotty's is indeed open late.

5/5

1 week from right now, we'll be nearly 2 hours into Rats of Round Mountain Part 1. For those who've played it before, they'll likely be in the middle of the first difficult encounter. Come by and cackle with glee!

I am running Dawn of the Scarlet Sun at Arsenal from 6-10pm. If anyone needs a ride, I will be leaving the JW Marriott probably about 5:20 and coming back after my event. I have room for 2 or maybe 3 if you squish in the back with the toddler seat.

5/5

1 week until I'm sitting at Eric's table getting ready to play Red Harvest and still grinning over the massacre that happened in the morning. :D

5/5

Well if you are an out of towner, the IndyGo bus system is pretty good.
Indygo.net

Alternatively google has a better search option for bus routes.

Looks like a bus trip will be 1.50.

So if you are traveling from the convention to scotties, this may be a good option.

Consider record breaking temperatures have been hitting Indy as well as a drought. A quick ride on a bus may be good if you plan on having allot of bags.

Yes, all those dead monsters and NPCs.

(double checking ... have enough PP to recover body and raise dead, check)

Perception check ... look for box to jump and hide in ....

You sir, will be finding out the sharp and pointy way that the VC giving the mission has "Angel of Death (Su)" in his stat block.

Tomorrow's the day! Most of our games our full with the exception of the 9am slot. If you want to get a game in, but the game you want to play is full, make sure to check out our alternate venue at The Arsenal Game Room.

Both venues have great boons for GMs and players and awesome prize support (buff decks, condition cards, flip mats, etc).

Scotty's will open "a little before" 9am, so I plan on being there at 8:45am.

See you all tomorrow!

Well, technically first on waitlist for Rats, but playing for Part 2 either way. Still will be there at 9 and go nap at the hotel if I can't play till noon. heheh.

Either way, do I get higher or lower chances of survival for being from Georgia but having met Joe Caubo only once?

Due to the rumors of the deadly nature of this adventure, combined with the deadly nature of the GM, and the current party APL of 9, I think we'll be playing down. Now if Kyle changed your status from waitlist to 6th player, I think we'd have to play up.

Hmm. That could go either way.

I'm not opposed to a 6th player for this group, especially if it forces you guys to play up. >:)

I would not be opposed to a 7 pregen (sadly, my only other closest character is lv 6) for part 1 to help the table make.

Warhorn shows you as a Bard 9. That's what I based my comments on.

Silver Crusade 5/5

If you are on the waitlist as the 6th player, I will do all that I can to make sure you are seated! I capped the tables at 5 just in case there were seating issues and for easy overflow.

I hope that reads that your APL will be higher and Kyle will indeed TPK during the 9am slot.

Looking forward to splitting time between both venues tomorrow. Scotty's is great and one of last year's best memories was playing We Be Goblins, singing at the top of our lungs while people gave us all strange looks!
