Wolf Girl Black Prince, I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying, Twin Tails, Hi Scool Seha Girl, When Battles Become Commonplace, Karen Senki, Cross Ange, World Trigger, Terrformars, Parasyte(I LOVE THE MANGA!!!) and especially Gundam Reconquista have my attention.
I watched the first episode of Cross Ange, I was expecting somthing more akin to Chika or scrapped princess....needless to say I wasn't prepared for that episode, especially the ending...still going to watch it though.

I'm glad you liked it, but it's one of those anime/macho-action scenes that I find very disturbing. We have a protagonist just trying to do his part for the greater good, who finds himself completely robbed of rights and dignity due to something he can't control. And then a 'good guy' kicks the crap out of him, while an audience looks on and does nothing...after which the protagonist is told "Well I had to do that, you understand, don't you?"
And the protagonist agrees.
This is one of those scenes fairly common to anime and macho action/military flicks that betrays humanity's frightening capacity to not only turn on itself, but for the individuals involved -- including the victims -- to then rationalize the truly horrible actions of the oppressors.

I would hesitate to call Levi "a good guy", honestly.
If he were a protagonist, I'd probably call him an antihero. But in any case, he is clearly part of team Humanity -- and not as a corrupt official, or a hysterical priest, or a greedy businessman, or whatnot. So within the context of AoT, I feel comfortable calling Levi a 'good guy,' with an emphasis on the air-quotes.
Also, I just don't like Eren.
Eh, I can't say that I really like Eren either.

I watched a bunch of first episodes with a group. We managed to get about five minutes into that one, and unanimously decided "nah". So we watched something else.
I went back later and watched the rest, and in retrospect, I SHOULD'VE STUCK WITH "NAH".

I like Levi... in much the same way that I liked Scar from FMA. I see the same potential to become more than what we see of him. Unfortunately, the first FMA series didn't carry through with that (yet another reason why I love Brotherhood), but hopefully we'll get this with the second season of SnK (especially if they're delving into his past).

Aranna wrote:Jiggy? Why wouldn't you show it to children? One Piece character's have a sort of child like mentality, are drawn in a child like fashion, and seem to be made "cool" in the way a child would make them cool. The violence is pure cartoony and I didn't notice any adult situations, language, or nudity in the various episodes I have seen. Heck I haven't even seen any romance or even teen drama in the show. I would say from what I have seen that this show is solidly marketed to young children.Hm, you haven't seen much then. Aside from thematic elements like murder and torture and racism and whatnot that might go over a kid's head, there's also blood spurts, nudity, flashing for money, fist through your back and out your chest, dismemberment, and even a borderline rape scene.
It starts out looking like maybe it's a kid show, but before long it becomes clear it's not. Though it does keep the goofy stuff as well, like fart jokes and whatnot.
Yeah.
I mean, the main crew are a bunch of doofs, but that's kind of the joke. They're "pirates" who don't do anything except sail around and do their best impression of superheroes...until the Marines try to stick their faces where they don't belong and get them chewed on for their trouble.
But a lot of the side characters and villains past the first few arcs? They can be as brutal as most anime you care to watch.
Just off the top of my head we see people get dismembered, frozen, burned, beheaded, pierced through the chest, electrocuted, disintegrated, drowned, and blown up.
And that's just bodily harm. Motivations can be pretty complex as well, and adult themes abound.

Greylurker |

This is true. The backstory we are getting onDon Flamingo right now is turning out to be brutal. At first they gave you the impression he was just a spoiled brat but then you find out what he actually lived through. His father may have had noble intentions but people nursing a lot of hate and resentment can be ugly

Can some people do me a favor? Those who have seen the Key to the Starry Sky arc of the Fairy Tail anime, go back to Episode 131.
If it helps, the timestamp on my video was right around 19:12, though it could be different for others.
This would be much appreciated.

At least that's what the subtitle says.
Wrong scene, I think.
At around 18:30, we see Lucy under the control of Mary Hughes and Mary forces Lucy to start taking steps towards her.
Then the show cuts to Guildarts and Byron fighting and Guildarts asks Byron why they are after Lucy and Byron says they're not after Lucy, strictly speaking, but that Lucy has something they want. Then Byron moves forward to attack and Guildarts ducks then tries to uppercut Byron with his magical punch but Byron uses his elbow to deflect it.
Then it cuts back to Natsu vs Sugaboy and Natsu says something to Sugaboy almost immediately after the cut.
This is the line I'm curious about.

Episode 131, Time Stamp 18:59 ** spoiler omitted **
When it cuts to Natsu and Sugaboy, Natsu says, "Let me hit you----" and this is my issue. It sounds like Natsu is saying, "Let me hit you, you faggot," but I'm having a hard time thinking that what I'm hearing is actually what's being said.
Is it possible he's saying 'damnit' and I'm mis-hearing it?

You marathoned it, eh? Hm. May just watch this..
The power of streaming. Plus it's easy to marathon a series of 12 1/2 hour episodes, especially when you take 2 days to do it. It also has it's own Abridged Series as well, and most of the stuff that gets that treatment I tend to like.

Marvel announces crossover with Attack on Titan.
This will obviously get animated at some point. Thoughts?

for some character's it's a non-issue. Thor fights giants all the time. Wolverine...not much different than taking down a Sentinel
Deadpool might get eaten, regenerate and then pull himself out of a pile of Titan vomit

It's only going to be in Japan and it's probably a manga. As a What If...? (it's like DC's Elseworlds, but Marvel did it first) idea, it's not bad. The creator for AoT has said the idea behind the 3D Maneuvering Gear came from Spider-Man, so getting Marvel on board for a Japanese crossover is a very good marketing move for both parties. AoT is very popular, after all, and Disney can always use the goodwill in Japan. Can't say if it'll be any good, but I guess we'll find out in 2 weeks.

A good friend of mine recommend that I finally watch Soul Eater. I was pretty pleasantly surprised despite really hating both the Blackstar & Excalibur characters. I had originally watched an episode that featured Blackstar and got turned off of the series. However, on my try this time I found both Maka and Death the Kid to be great characters. Those two characters made the series enjoyable for me.
Other than that, I have been mostly just watching the weekly Fairy Tail episodes and watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood with a friend.

SAMAS |

So, we've hit the halfway point, and I'm long overdue for a seasonal report:
Log Horizon, Gundam Build Fighters, and Coffin Princess Chaika have all begun their second seasons, while Majin Bone and Marvel DISK Wars: The Avengers are still going on. Quick Recaps (WARNING, these are all very basic):
Log Horizon -- Players trapped in an MMORPG try to (re)build society. Deals a lot more with actual MMORPG mechanics than other series' of this growing genre.
Gundam Build Fighters (TRY) -- Kids play a holographic battle game with real live Gundam Plastic Models. Second season takes place six years after the first with a new cast. Lots of cameos from Gundam characters.
Coffin Princess Chaika -- A young girl with a big gun hires a pair of Rogues to help her retrieve the remains of her Evil Overlord father from the heroes who slew him.
Majin Bone -- A young man finds himself bonded to the physical manifestation of the planet's lifeforce and joins a group of armored warriors fighting aliens trying to take it. Intense CGI fighting.
Marvel DISK Wars -- Loki seizes control of a scientist's human digitization project and uses it to imprison several Marvel Super Heroes and Villains. The scientist's two sons and their friends help the Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Wasp) find the captured heroes and battle the bad guys. In the current arc, the Red Skull gets involved and powers up the villains, forcing the Avengers and their partners to find a way to keep up.
And the new stuff:
GARO: The Animation -- GARO is a darker, more adult live-action Toku series about a golden knight hunting man-eating demons. Like Kamen Rider, but bloodier. This anime is a prequel taking place in Medieval Europe.
Cross Ange takes place in a world of magic-users, where those few who are born without the ability to use magic, called Normas, are persecuted as sub-human. The princess of one country is suddenly outed as a Norma and is shipped off to an island prison where she is forced to pilot a mech and battle dragons invading from another dimension. Pretty decent, but some of the fanservice (and disservice) can-be off-putting.
Dang, I ran out of time. Will have to be finished later.

Still need to finish log horizon and akb48 so I can Gundam build fighters myself to death. Although there is at least one fight that I am diametrically opposed to - GM Sniper vs Kaempfer Amazing. That was some bullshit. GM Sniper should have snipered to victory not BE snipered by some Zeon mobile suit...

SAMAS |

Anyway, more series':
Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins) is about seven powerful knights who were accused of treason by the Holy Knights who themselves have seized power in the kingdom. Ten years later, the princess escapes from the Holy Knights and seeks their help to free her kingdom.
With Naruto finishing (I'm kinda surprised Hinata got 'im, but I ain't complaining!) and Bleach apparently a zombie, It seems that NnT is a contender for the next big Shonen series. But it's pretty good so far.
Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Blushing Dawn) is about a Princess of a Fantasy Not-Korea who is forced to go on the run and become a hero(ine) when the cousin she's been crushing on since she was a child kills her father and takes over.
Madan no Ou to Vanadis is a story about a young noble who is captured by a beautiful commander on the other side of a war, and given an exorbitantly high ransom so she can keep him. Then his own side tries to destroy his fiefdom, and things snowball from there.

I've become rather attached to this one, not sure why...it's good, but not spectacular, it's got a really strong Romance of the Twelve Kingdoms or The Mysterious Play vibe. It's fairly slow paced so far, and the characters are a bit typical of the genre. The comedy bits are kinda jarring as well, it'll go from somewhat serious war/treachery/survival story to an SD joke bit and back in less than a minute. For all that it's one of the shows I'm most looking forward to each week. ..odd, I'll reccomend it though...sometimes taste is inexplicable.

Today's episode of Akame ga Kill....
I have no words.
Oh... a friend of mine who is reading the manga, explained something to me in regard to Lubbock.
He was captured along with Tatsumi and tortured in some very gruesome ways. So gruesome, in fact, that apparently they aren't allowed to show it on TV. So they had to come up with something else entirely, leading to his death in the way that we saw it last Sunday.
