I watched it subtitled and am currently watching it dubbed on Toonami... I like the dub mainly because I can focus on the action taking place onscreen better. I find that there are things that I didn't pick up on when it was subtitled, so I can understand somewhat. That said... there's alot more emotional content in the subtitled version that just isn't present (for me, at least) in the dub. I could feel Eren's wrath in the sub... I have to convince myself that it's there in the dub.

I usually watch dubbed stuff because I have too many distractions around my home to be reading subtitles all the time.

Maybe I've just been blessed to miss the awful dubs, but I've always preferred dubs to subs. I find a lot of the Japanese vocal mannerisms to be quite annoying, and I think the majority of the females all sound exactly a like.
I've watched non-english stuff from other countries before, and I've never had the same issues I do with Japanese vocal products.
There are plenty of good English Dub actors, so I always hold out hope for a series until I actualy watch it. Always a fan of Lisa Ortiz and Hillary Haag
In Sweden we have a company called EuroTroll that does most dubs... And it is always the same six or seven voices. It feels like commedia de l'arte or something. Bleh and double bleh.

I normally watch subs, though I'm not a purist about it, so I don't really have a good handle on how good or bad dubbing tends to be these days.
I honestly don't know... I usually avoid dubs and if pressed I can recall some bad dubs (professional bad dubs, not amateur); most of them from the late 90s to mid 2000s. There are exceptions... I prefer Naruto in dub over the Japanese voice actors ... Cowboy Bebop as well.

Bandwagon? Hipster? I'm sorry, you'll have to speak up sonny. The volume on my hearing aid is set to just over 9000 as my ear was teleported into another dimension at the time.

To me they come across as Firefly's browncoats or the all-too-common stereotype of the country music fan (with the attitude of anything other than country is crappy noise pollution) which actually turns me off of the very thing they are so insistent upon promoting.
My best friend is dyslexic and really can't watch subtitled stuff effectively, he can watch either the dialogue or the animation, but not both. My wife has a serious crosseye, and has lesser (but similar) problems herself. I tend to zone out when reading so I will always find the dub preferable unless the voice acting is so terrible it comes across as completely flat (unless the character is supposed to be that way of course). That being in addition to the two people I watch anime with being unable to really gain anything from subtitled stuff.

I just watched Blade Of The Phantom Master, and I have no freaking clue what the heck I just saw.
It's Korean... so take that with a grain of salt.
I watched it last year and while I loved the action, the plot was more than a little muddled.

Don't hold it in, man. My actual initials are JEM, and after a while, I stopped fighting it and just went with it.
Plus I'm also trying to convince my friends to do a gender-swapped Glam-Punk cosplay of The Holograms (have been for years), so it's all good.
So far Blood+ has been an amazing anime series. I am up to episode 21 or 22 right now. Netflix has it online to watch.
Ntflix has picked up a lot of interesting stuff.

I was just going to bring up Psycho Pass. I'm halfway thru season 1, and it's an instant classic! Good animation, interesting [and non-annoying!] characters, dystopian futuristic setting, a well-paced plot with a bit of action...it really doesn't get any better than this for me!
Highly recommended to anyone who likes any of those things. :)

I've heard good things about Tokyo Ghoul, but I have an aversion to things zombie-like... unless it plays against type (Is This A Zombie?) or it gives me some pretty cool action (Highschool of the Dead). Has anyone here seen it? I know someone mentioned it before, but I don't recall if anything else was said about it. If it's good, I'll watch it with Psycho Pass.

Dub vs Sub definitely depends on the series and person in question. Cowboy Bebop, I agree had very good actors on the dub version. I also really liked the dubbed version of Ghost in the Shell. In general, I prefer subtitles thou.
However,I also have a few friends that have tremendous issues with subtitles. One of my friends with said issues got hooked on Fairy Tail (thanks to me). He simply would not watch the series of a dubbed version was not available. Now, I prefer the sub version for Fairy Tail but I can definitely hang out and watch the dubbed version with him.
Dubbing increases the range of your audience. The actors may vary in quality but without dubbing, anime would be watched by fewer people. Since I like the shows and want them to be successful, I am fine with a dubbed version being available.

The Ghouls aren't exactly zombies. They are fully human in appearance and behavior for the most part but the only thing they can eat is Human Flash...and coffee. This means they can blend into human society with no problems. They have an extra organ in them that creates a sort of solidified Blood Weapon they use for fighting.
Story is about a university student who nearly gets killed when he gets attacked by one. The attacker gets crushed by falling I-Beams and both get taken to the hospital. Doctors can't save the Ghoul (who they think is a normal person) but they use it's organs to save the guy.
Needless to say Ghoul organs in a human body don't exactly combine well. Poor guy finds all his favorite foods now taste disgusting.
The only things left to him are Coffee...and human flesh.

Story gets pretty interesting and yeah it has a lot of action in it. The main character's evolution and development of Ghoul society ends up being more complex than you would think.

I just started watching GITS: Arise last night and I'm... intrigued.
Not sure I like this incarnation of the Major, but I'm interested to see how it works out.

edit: (for the paranoid) It's got some popups and advertisements but I've never gotten a virus there. Also one of my friends says the videos buffer alot for her there but I've never had any problems.

So... I've been binge watching Fairy Tail for the last several hours and I have to say I like it. I think Hiro Mashima's work probably lends itself better to an anime format than manga, especially with all of the wacky hijinks.
Also, at the same time, it's a little weird, but that's got everything to do with the Voice actors. This isn't the first time I've heard everyone's voice by far, but, I have to say, it's a little odd how many voice actors Fairy Tail shares with Kenichi. I wonder if Funimation just really likes using those same voice actors over and over or something.
All right, currently watching episode 30, which will be the last episode in my 12 hour long binge I think. I'm tired.
While not anime, I wanted to let people know the History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi Manga has ended. :(
Maybe the anime will get restarted and continue on where it left off?

I've heard about a few of those, but I can't really seem to find them either dubbed or subbed. I've seen some of them on streaming sites with no subs (pretty sure they haven't been dubbed yet), so I've been unable to watch them. I'd prefer dubs if they existed (got a 2 year old and 4 year to keep my eyes on), but I'll take subs if I have to.
The manga ended on a positive note though, it concluded it's story. The last few chapters were kind of confusing though, lots and lots of action that doesn't translate well into manga format. I'd love to see the whole series animated.

I also binge watched fairy tail while originally catching up. The Tenrou island arc in particular kept me gripped to the screen all the way through. Still, the show is a lot of fun.
I have tried to get into manga a couple of times but so far no luck. Even series that I really like the anime for just do not seem to work as well for me in manga format.
Fairy Tail takes awhile to find it's legs. If you can make it through the first five or so episodes into the first major arc it gets far better.
I shall have to re-check out Fairy Tale. Right now I am re-watching season 1 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Season 2 and the Disapearance of Haruhi Suzumiya will have to be watched online.
