Either way. There is a thread about Rappan Athuk Level 7B in the Paizocon message boards with some character info.
I will be providing lots of 6th level pregens, as I just got the finished level from Bill, and I assume you're all going to die. Its classic Bill Webb (Lots of death, lots of treasure, lots of horrible death...lots of treasure,oh, and a really horrible death....)
So what you're saying is: Let the body count rise, betray party members, make off with all of the dead/current characters' stuff and the loot.

Just kidding...

I'm really trying to justify upping my pledge to the $250... I know it's a ton of stuff, but it's the finances aspect more than the value. It's totally worth the price.
I may just have to suck it up and do it...
And hey, that would offset Ravenmantle's reduction!
Yeah, I'm struggling as well. I really would like the screen and possibly the mat. We're not playing often enough to justify the extra levels.
Maybe the survey Blonde Frog was mentioning will allow me to order a screen and a mat in addition to my pledge, without having to up it to 250.

Think of it this way. You only have one shot at getting this content. It is not going to be for sale a couple of years from now when you say, hey I would like to run those other levels they did when the RA kickstarter was going. Unless you want to by a copy from me later at a much inflated price...

I justify it as 'I am getting a huge collection of dungeon levels to insert into ANY campaign I like'.
That's how I intend to use Slumbering Tsar and Rappan Athuk. It's so packed with awesome stuff that, even if I won't be able to run the dungeons themselves (my players aren't fond of megadungeons), I can pick of choose the stuff that fits my game. So even if I won't be able to play the entire megadungeon *pouts* these books are still tremendous tools for my games.

+1 to this. My players aren't all that interested in megadungeons either, but I can drop in levels from these as side quests, as places to visit when the players go off in a direction that I had not planned for, etc.

What is the planned release order for all of the RA stuff? Is RA releasing at GenCon? Sooner (hopefully not later)? I'm hoping you guys get all possible pdfs (at least RA full and the Players Guide) uploaded to the Bytes Interactive site prior to you all heading to GenCon, where I'm assuming the dead tree version will be available. I can live without the paper copy shipping to me for a (little) while, but I'd really love to get access to the pdfs as soon as you guys can make them available to the Kickstarter contributors.
This question might seem a little premature, but we're only like 6 weeks away from GenCon and July is gonna be here and gone before we know it, so I thought I'd throw it out there...

RA print will be at GenCon, we've been killing ourselves to meet that goal. Dont know about the pdfs.
Chuck?
The print copies and swag will most likely ship AFTER GenCon to everyone. there is just so much that has to be packed, and some of the bonuses are not finished (yet), it'll be real close.
Id rather have all the flames and vitriol now, and have it get to you early, than have people disappointed.

Our plan was to try to have it ready for GenCon. Chuck is working on it furiously. *cracks whip* :-)
We will not be attending GenCon as a company. Greg was planning on going, but something else came up. Though I do believe Soulstealer - I mean Blonde Frog will attend. She won't be selling our books.
If we get the book out in time, I think that Paizo will be selling it at their booth. Also there is another booth that sells old school game materials and has sold our books at GenCon in the past.

You won't hear any flames or vitriol from me, buddy. You guys are bending over backwards on the whole RA thing; I think anyone who has been following the KS process and this forum thread should see that.
I'm mostly just hoping for any pdfs that can get uploaded and released before GenCon to happen. I'm going to love my paper copies of the KS swag that we contributors have coming, don't get me wrong, but it's the pdf versions that I'm truly craving. So anything that can speed those getting released for KS contributor download gets my support 100%.

So, for the $40 pdf option you can get the following:
$40 Pledge - PDF of "Bill's 100 Lines", wallpaper artwork of Rappan Athuk Cover Art, special tribute illustration, Name in Book, PDF of Player's Guide, PDF of pre-generated characters, Orcus Button, PDF of GM Screen, and PDF of Rappan Athuk (1 version).
See the Kickstarter for an explanation of some of these items. I wonder how much it would cost to mail that 1 Orcus button?
Zarathos |
This didn't get added to the FAQ yet. So, I forgot the following extras you get since KS made it to 200k.
"All of our backers who pledge $10 or more will now receive the PDF of The Libram of Fortunate Happenstance players booklet PLUS We will add a PDF windfall booklet for the GM to respond with their own windfall parchments.
All of our backers who pledge $10 or more will receive an Orcus Decal."
So, at the $40 level, the only physical nondigital things are the Orcus button and decal.

That should be fine, OOTS Kickstarter sent me a magnet and a patch for silly amount.
Books tend to be costy on shipping (darn you, USPS!). And boxed sets...are a stuff of nightmares, since they get hit by customs fees and VAT. My adventure of buying (ironically) Necro Games' City of Brass was somewhat harrowing :)

I was wondering if there will be any possibility that the GM Screen(not the pdf version) will be available after the funding either from FFG or at the survey for extra cost?
I believe we are looking into this.

DR JF- that certainly wasn't a shot at you about the fire and acid. I just know how interweb people get when they want something, and are tired of waiting for it. Heck, I can bet you NO ONE wants to see this in print more than me. It will be the completion of approx 1 year in work. I wants me a finished product!

I think pledged buys count as gifts for customs...
Question is, as what will they it declared on the shipping invoice?
My copy of Slumbering Tsar was detained in german customs, I had to provide my copy of the PayPal transaction, argue that the cryptic acronym really meant 'Slumbering Tsar'... and then still pony up some money (VAT on books here is at 7%; not much, but still annoying)

Yep, mine too.
If FGG can stick a declaration of contend with worth in USD ON the Box (like Paizo does), german postal service will be able to process this without sending it to customs.
@ FGG: For international shipping you might want to check out shipping with M-Bags. That might be a less expensive option:

I take it, that it will be by USPS rather than Fed-Ex or other carrier? As I have managed to get a friends military address and it works differently for different carrier companies.
EDIT: Sorry about all the questions, it's just I have never backed a Kickstarter before. But this is too awesome to pass up. After pledging Amazon didn't give me the opportunity to put in an alternate address, does this happen after the completion date?

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: When the Kickstarter is complete you will get a survey asking for your relevant information (T-shirt size, Orcus or Tsathogga miniature, mailing address, etc). If I remember correctly, this is when you will be asked to pay your shipping costs.

I just wanted to put some perspective on the two projects' (Rappan Athuk and Traveller5) totals right now.
Current Rappan Athuk total pledged — 215,981
Current Rappan Athuk total pledgers — 814
Current Traveller5 total pledged — 239,185
Current Traveller5 total pledgers — 1,708
So that's $455,166 (U.S.) by 2,522 individual pledges for just TWO different gaming books.
This is incredibly staggering, I know that I'm proud to be involved in one of the two companies and I think that it's an indication that tabletop gaming is FAR from dead and is a small, but thriving industry that's going nowhere soon.
Things like this show us that we should keep doing what we're doing, and I love it.

I can't believe I almost missed this KS. I don't know why, but whenever I saw the post on the little messageboard ticker sidebar thingy I thought of Slumbering Tsar. If I hadn't gone idly browsing Kickstarter earlier today, I wouldn't have even known about it. I gotta start reading these posts more closely!
