Yeah, I've noticed that for some reason 2020-21 seemed to be big egg-breaking years for a lot of folks, myself included. I'd say I'm not sure why, but I have at least a couple theories :p

*waves* from Mastodon

Is Mastodon taking off? I thought it had a slight bump and then kinda petered out.

108,000 new users in the last week, apparently (now >9 million users)

There were 2 massive (10K+ new users per hour) influxes at the end of last year, so yeah it has slowed down a bit.

It's a bit harder to find your place in the fediverse at first, but it's way nicer than twitter, because of the way the server instances can control who they connect to.

For the folks in this thread, it's likely to be orders of magnitude better

Of course not. You're definitely not a recognizable personality on the boards that would have stood out for having a slightly different name and made me click.

No, seriously:
How'd you get the rename? I have two aliases that need renamed off my deadname.

What, and give up my Dex/Int boosts? How am I supposed to be a mischievous little scamp without those?

I don't know if you remember me from before, but when I changed my name I simply sent them a message asking them to make this my primary. It took about a day.

I had a paladin of Arshea back in 2013. I had an angelic bloodline bloodrager who followed Arshea around the same time. I was an ostrich-sized egg.

Did you know that the kiwi is the only bird that lays an egg larger than itself?

That's not possible, but it does lay an egg that's about 15% of its body weight.

It's something I enjoy telling people when kiwis come up because it's funny and easy to disprove just by thinking for a second. :P

Starting a sequel campaign to the one we did in 2020 on Sunday, and I can't be more excited! This group has explored over 400 years of this setting's history in various snapshots, and I'm giddy about getting to the next era. It turns out five neurodivergent trans women can play tabletop very, very well!

After having touched on Microscope, Beam Saber, Scum & Villainy, Armour Astir: Advent, and Kingdom 2e, we're now hopping into Songs for the Dusk (which is an *incredible* game), which is a real joy to run.

Wish us luck!

I'm still in an ongoing game where I'm playing a trans wizard who got turned into an ice elemental because of touching cursed things (we knew they were cursed but wizard had to know the *specifics* of the curse and also it was very shiny). And honestly, being an ice elemental is pretty cool. :P

Huh, okay. Mods just deleted my post that was expressing happiness that Golarion is queer and that bigots wouldn't feel welcome here. I reworded it to be even less baity (my original post referenced anti-SJWs pejoratively), and I'll see if that one gets taken down, too, but it's... a bad sign.

Hey they took down my posts too, but I was more acerbic regarding 5e and such.

I am quite curious if Hitomi will see any consequences for that "I prefer to pretend everyone in my settings is straight" comment. Like, I would have rathered be able to question it and maybe try to educate them, but since that got nixed, I'm kind of just left with a "yikes".

That we all can't be straight was one of my earliest and most painful lessons.

The practise of explaining why posts were deleted should never have been abandoned, imo.

I know it makes more work, invites arguments, charges of hypicrisy, etcetera.

It makes the community better though if there are clear rules. And nothing underlines those rules better than visible consequences for breaking them.

It's funny when people say "I'll fight for you when you're being oppressed, just don't bother me in my favorite media" as if queer visibility isn't very obviously a part of the fight for our rights. I mean, he probably knows that on some level, he just doesn't care.

Anyone saying "I'll fight for you when you're being oppressed" is already implying you're not being oppressed now, so they're either oblivious or disingenuous already.

I don't want to prematurely sound any alarms, but this post just got deleted. I think we might want to consider the possibility that a new Paizo leadership policy, as they welcome disgruntled 5e players, may be to try to pivot towards a new, less progressive community that will allow them to get away with more.

I don't know, and I'm not allowing myself to jump to conclusions. I can't recognize any good reason to delete the post I made, unless you see "I'm glad there aren't bigots in this space" as baiting?

By the way, ketfiu, I haven't been sending the mods a lot of emails because I still haven't gotten any replies on the ones I've already sent, including a "thread is in wrong forum" request from a week ago. I emailed them on this one, though.

That's really not encouraging.

I do sometimes get overly carried away with things, especially when I'm hyperfixated on something. I'm, like, trying to not completely make a scene like I usually do. I sent an email to both CS and Community, and I'm waiting on a response.

I don't foresee this being another "KC posts a ten-page thread" situation, even if it's confirmed. I honestly doubt I have energy for that, and I doubt I'd help matters. If it gets confirmed, I'm just gonna leave.

It does look like most of yesterday's derail with DLH disappeared as well, so at least it's not one-sided.

I made a post linking to the forum’s intolerance policy, a TDOV blog post, and a Pride blog post, all official Paizo communications, and it was deleted without comment.

Super curious what rule “sharing Paizo’s support for queer people” breaks.

I do kinda read that as baiting.

Okay, I'm taking ten steps back from the forums for now, because it all got to me pretty bad and I need to take a sabbatical. That said, I want to give an update--I got some replies to my emails today, and they seem to be taking it seriously.

The justification for deleting my post wasn't that it was baiting (I strongly do not think that opposing open bigots should be taken as baiting, for the simple reason that it should be considered a baseline that open bigots aren't here). As it turns out, it was that it was off-topic. I'm guessing that's also why your post got targeted, keftiu.

I kind of disagree, and my new version of the post is heavily clarified as to how it's on-topic, but we'll see. I'm just a little tired, and increasingly guarded. I don't want to make innocent people's lives more stressful, but I'm wary of apologizing to people whose intentions I really don't know.

That said, something I really try hard to practice is pausing before posting and thinking carefully about how to read the other person's behavior in good faith and how I could best approach an issue without escalating it. That's not what I managed to do today in response to the deletions. I pretty firmly came out guns blazing assuming the worst. Hence the ten steps back. I need a break from posting.

I wish I had your wisdom.
I tend to keep posting in places until it makes me sad. Wish I could see that coming and quit earlier.

Take care of yourself (happy to talk about some of the answers Ive been getting privately, if youd like. They are encouraging). <3

I can only ask that you do not leave, as the energy you bring as well as the points you make, are important to all. This is a Chaotic time- we need the lawfulness of kobolds to balance things out.

If cis folks won't speak up, we have to. That's how it usually goes, unfortunately.

When you don't push back on the people being queerphobic, they act like they run the place. I wish it wasn't always me and the same few folks.

I can’t edit now, bur I shouldn’t just say cis folks - my complaint is more with silent allies than any other queer people.
