I feel like I need a hug but played a pathfinder game in a skirt yesterday.
I always feel bad that American dudes are excluded by societal expectation from wearing skirts. They're the best. (Same with purses. Seriously, awesome.)
Also, along the theme of needing a hug, I felt pretty crappy last week, so I went and bought a pile of yarn to crochet my way through and get my mind off things. Guess who has a new, super-ridiculously-bright rainbow-striped throw blanket and hat now? :D
And, congrats on your major step in figuring yourself out, Jen. “This above all: to thine own self be true."

It's amazing what a relief it is just to get that out in the open, isn't it?

Definitely! There's a really interesting article - What Kink Can Do for Boardgaming - that I'm definitely looking forward to reading. The whole book is edited by a scholar whose work I've been following for a while; he work has to do deal with identity and gaming.

Oh yeah.
And tomorrow I'm out to my students, and then I'm really out to everyone. Hopefully I'll be able to post in this thread now that I don't have to worry about them cyber-stalking me and finding out before I tell them. (I wish this was theoretical, but some of them found my 3PP work last year after much sleuthing, which was pretty impressive.)
Thanks for all the congrats!

Jen,PM was sent to you, hope it wasn't too obnoxious.
Congrats on taking one of the hardest steps on such a journey, and remember even if things get dark there's a buncha folks here pulling for you!
I saw the PM, I started typing a response, then realized that I don't have one of my lesson plans for tomorrow. That's kinda taking priority. :p

Yeah. The rest of those are pretty dang dark. Hatchworth's little diatribe in the middle of the Stars was absolutely adorable, though!
lol Poor Hatchwortch. And Rabbit's aside glance during it was perfect.
But yeah, those songs are sad. Fire Fire in fact really gels with Dead Space even.

I just wanted to share some good news on my end with everyone:
I just got accepted into one of the top pharmacy schools in the country! :D
For the past two years I've been in the midst of a career change, leaving behind a ten year career as a cell biologist and going for my PharmD. So back to school to finish some prerequisite classes for different programs, take the PCAT (and got 99th percentile!) and then working in retail for the first time in my life as a pharmacy tech.
Despite crushing self-doubt on my end through it all, I ended up getting accepted by every program that I applied to. I'll start school next summer. Wish me luck!
Good things can and do happen, even if the road has been somewhere between rocky and a total train wreck at points prior through it all.
Understandably, my freelancing will go down to a minimum for the next four years, with the amount being adjusted based on how difficult I find the class load and what things get offered for me to write. :D
I'm still giddy over finding out the other day from my top choice.
