I just wanted to share some good news on my end with everyone:
I just got accepted into one of the top pharmacy schools in the country! :D
For the past two years I've been in the midst of a career change, leaving behind a ten year career as a cell biologist and going for my PharmD. So back to school to finish some prerequisite classes for different programs, take the PCAT (and got 99th percentile!) and then working in retail for the first time in my life as a pharmacy tech.
Despite crushing self-doubt on my end through it all, I ended up getting accepted by every program that I applied to. I'll start school next summer. Wish me luck!
Good things can and do happen, even if the road has been somewhere between rocky and a total train wreck at points prior through it all.
Yay!
Understandably, my freelancing will go down to a minimum for the next four years, with the amount being adjusted based on how difficult I find the class load and what things get offered for me to write. :D
Noooo!

Awe. Some.
Now, I can validate all of my friends' Tracer/Zarya fanart C'MON THEY WORK SO WELL TOGETHER IN-GAME
*cough*
Although I'm hoping they confirm Zarya gay as well, they probably won't and keep it rather ambiguous, due to Russia coming down on FIFA, of all things, for "spreading gay propaganda." They would get absolutely furious if Zarya was seen kissing a girl.
Holy s@~~, is that Reaper staring at his family?
*feels intensifies*

** spoiler omitted **
It's actually for that reason I can see Blizzard doing exactly that :3
And yeah *sniff*
... did you notice the Widowmaker one? ;_;

Yeah. Gawd, really gives them some humanity. Didn't help that Turn Back the Clock was playing in the background while I was listening to it T-T Although, if Widowmaker was emotional enough to visit her husband's grave, you kinda have to wonder if Talon's hold on her is slipping...
A lore question: if Jack and Ana have aged so drastically since the Omnic Crisis, and Tracer was part of the original Overwatch, how come she hasn't shown any signs of aging? Is it a side effect of the Slipstream experiment?

Something to be noted: I hardly play Overwatch at all. It's a great game, don't get me wrong, but I'm generally too busy, and in the rare occasions that I have time to play some vidjagaems, I prefer to spend them trying to make some progress in single-player games. But I absolutely love the characters, the lore, the worldbuilding, etc etc., so I read the comics and try to absorb as much media about it as possible.

Honestly, I've always been terribly fascinated with how little the plot/backstory/fandom of Overwatch has to do with the actual game itself or vice versa.
Blizzard: Here's a bunch of cool women (and some men in culturally stereotyping Halloween costumes). You can either draw heartwarming fanart of them all being super queer, or play this game where they all shoot each other in the general proximity of a car loping about at 5 mph.
No particular reason for the two activities to intersect at all.
Today's announcement was very nice though either way.

Okay, woke up, good.
Oh and the pretty much defacto main character/mascot of one of the most globally popular video games currently out who appears on all of their advertisements and endorsements is, not teasing, but officially queer. Even better.
*offers hugs to anyone and everyone that wants or needs one*

Dammit, Blizzard. Dammit, Russia.
Ugh, this sucks. But, I don't think that even in the hate-haze, Russia is going to be stupid enough to ban Overwatch. There would be riots in the streets.

Well we had at least one good day before this...

I'm still giddy over finding out the other day from my top choice.
Woo-hoo! Congrats! As someone currently fighting the grad school dragon, my advice is to focus deeply on your studies (of course) but to also make sure you keep time for yourself/other hobbies/places where you can feel successful. Grad school dragons are really hard to slay and I've often felt like a failure (even when doing *fairly* well). Congrats on getting into your top choice!
