Grenadier's Alchemical Weapon ability

Rules Questions

Do Alchemist's still get to add their INT bonus (as stated from Throw Anything) to Splash Weapons that don't splash?

For example the Grenadier's Alchemical Weapon ability to infuse an Alchemist Fire to a weapon but doesn't splash.

Alchemist Fire is a Splash Weapon by category but doesn't splash when used this way.

Thanks

PS I love the Grenadier Archetype, but its abilities lead to a lot of questions during my games, would love some clarifications. If you've played one beyond 6th or perhaps you designed the class (wink, wink) I would love to run some other questions by you.

I believe so. A direct hit with alchemist fire will add the damage, and since it's still a splash weapon (which is a category of items), it should add the damage.

What other questions do you have on it?

I'm designing one now and didn't even realize this little fact. But here's proof it should apply.

"The alchemical item takes full effect on the next creature struck by the weapon" quoted from the "Alchemical Weapons" ability.

Sure do. Just because the weapon no longer gets to affect an area does not mean that the splash property has been removed.

The ability tells you what is different from normal. It says no affecting other targets, it does not mention removing the Alchemist's ability to add his Int modifier to damage.

Do you need to draw the alchemical items for the Grenadier or is a Bandolier/Adventurer's Sash good enough? It seems odd that you would have to take a move to draw the item, plus another move/swift/immediate to apply it.

@Firebug: that's why having a Prehensile Tail is amazing for alchemists.

Having an area of effect is not a prerequisite for "being a splash weapon" or "getting Int to damage". If the signature ability of the Grenadier wasn't supposed to work with the relevant 1. level alchemist ability, it should have been specified, not left in assumptions about what "splash weapon" and "full effect" mean.

Also, other Alchemist abilities take the action they say they take; bombs and extracts are not drawn, then used, they are used with the action they say they take.
