Yeah, considering the insane number of new demons that the Worldwound book and WotR are about to bring to the table, here's to hoping for some devil/daemon love in the inevitable upcoming not-yet-announced-because-Paizo-loves-to-tease Bestiary 4!

Editor-in-Chief

Devils? Yeah.

Me. :)

Here's a bit of proof:

Book of the Damned Volume 1: Princes of Darkness

Kobold Quarterly: Barbatos

Kobold Quarterly: Dispater

Pathfinder #30: Mammon

I also wrote up a new devil for the Bestiary of every Pathfinder in the Council of Thieves Adventure Path, which have been leaking into hardcovers ever since. And the Hellknights, who are also my babies, probably also at least tangentially devil related.

Mark also did a devil in Pathfinder #60, the drowning devil I believe.

So yeah, lots of love for those guys out there and you can bet that any time we do something big with a planar theme they'll be involved.

As for more divs, kytons, asuras, rakshasas, etc, I love, love, LOVE planar adventures, but I know that's not everybody's cup of tea. So we try not to over do it, but restraint isn't one of our more prominent virtues, so 'm sure you'll see plenty more slip in here and there over time.

Pathfinder #60 is the only one I'm missing hah. Clever. I'll have to get it.

Drowning devil? Uh...

*checks on d20pfsrd... Exhales relieved*

Thankfully it is different than my Wayfinder 8th's sea wanderer devil...

More qlippoths, more kytons, more psychopomps, more qlippoths, more asuras, more rakshasas, more qlippoths, more demodands, more oni, more qlippoths, daemons, more proteans, more qlippoths!

Also, more qlippoths.

and rakshasa/asura amalgam! or asura/oni amalgam!

LOST? LOST??? Those overused dragons from the first bestiary are sooo less interesting than those you just named, but I think Lead should be replaced by Mercury. And aren't Iron and Steel a bit too a-like?

Adamantine a Lost Dragon is a bit strange, its the most powerful of all dragons if created. :p

*GAG, CHOKE, GASP* No... more... color... dragons *DIES*

*UNDIES* Some of those metallic ideas are pretty cool, though. And I did always like the mercury dragon.

I'll have to put these on the list for the dark future.

My suggestion almost killed an Editor-in-Chief? Oh my, did I hit a nerve or something?

Sorry about that :P

hehe... Schneider said undies.... ;)

More crystal themed monsters of varius types such as constructs, magcial beast, aberrations, plants, and elementals.
-made of crystals.
-covered in crystals
-transform/imprission people into/in crystal.
-can fire crystals
-create crystals or csydtal structures.
-can control crystals and/or crystal like creatures.

More light themed creatures or creatures made of light.
-can control light.
-can create solid light constructs such weapons and armor.
-can become light energy.
-eats light and/or drains color from living things and objects.
-natural attacks count as brillant energy weapons.
-can create bridges/pathways out of light.

There will never be more Demodands, its already said.

And I really think devils get enough love already, see demons VS devils in the first bestiary, most devils are so much better than the Demons.

Vrock VS Osyluth = Easy outcome, a skeleton scorpion humanoid torturer cop vs a Vulture Demon, while Vrocks are cool too they are blown away by the awesomeness of Osyluth.

Succubus VS Erinyes = Fallen angels for the win, while my username may be about the male version of the succubus, paizo kinda spoiled my fandom of succubi by creating a very cool Erinyes and Pairaka, now I don't really like Succubi anymore, and then there is also erodaemon.

Imp VS Quasit = Imps are famous, Quasits are wannabees.

Hamatula VS Hezrou = Is very close call, but I like the spikey devil somewhat more, while I love the hezrou's cool abilities to polute the entire environment, in looks Hamatula wins far off.

Glabrezu VS Gelugon = Tie, both very cool looks and abilities, if I have to choose Gelugon would win.

Balor VS Pit Fiend = Balor, Pit fiend never had my attention at all and Balors are one of my all time favorite demons.

Cornugon VS Marilith = Marilith, while the Cornugon is cool too the Marilith is one of my favorite monsters overal, and my favorite demon.

Dretch VS Lemure = Lemure's are from greek mythology so they win this round, they also look much better than the boring Dretch.

I think the artwork in the first bestiary made the devils look really really awesome so I think they GET the attention they deserve, my friends don't really like monsters but when they saw picks of the Hamatula and Erinyes they really liked them.

There can never be enough devils for me tho, so let them come in endless waves!!!

"Rainbow monster"? I gues the silver age batman comics had some trippy stuff in them.

More sound based monsters
-creatures that control sound.
-creatures that nulify sound.
-creatures made of sonic energy.
-creatures that reflect/redirect sonic attacks.

More gravity based creatres.
-creatures who use gravity as a weapon
-creatures who are immune to gravity.
-creatures made of or from gavitational forces.

What, who said there weren't going to be any more demodands?

I suppose now is too late but nevermind. In the next bestiary I would like to see high level mosnter that are not like the say monster in the other bestiaries tend to be(you know, huge or bigger incredibly High CMD, Very high Fort save low will save).

Interesting...

as long as you are skimming through posts, I just want to put my support for more neutral and good outsiders, as well as more Kytons, Qlippoth, Asuras, Rakashas, and kin. Demons and Devils, and to a lesser extent Daemons, have gotten a lot of love. I would like to see the other outsiders fleshed out more.

Kytons (beyond Daemons) are especially my favorite evil outsiders

Demons get all the love :(

Undies? That's what one does to become undead, right?

Step 1: Steal underpants.
Step 2: Become undead.
Step 3: Profit.

A CR20+ creature that is small size or smaller would be awesome.

Last I remember, I asked mr James Jacobs if the Demodands would get there own CR2 improved familiar type creature. He said "no" because there would only ever be three types, but I gues things have changed since then.

I forgot Low Touch AC in that list.

I think 3 demodands are enough, why all races/groups of creatures should be large and expansive? Some are very rare like the demodands, it all makes sense.

I wouldn't mind more evil/neutral outsiders but they aren't in my wishlists, also the daemons got most love because they really blown away the boring D&D daemons by creating the 4 most awesome of deamons ever: Purrodaemon, Leukodaemon, Meladaemon and Phasmadaemon.

One thing I really think is done enough are head monsters, chonchon, doru and vargouille, Demilich and all the flying medusa heads, really enough yes.

I'm so off topic here it's not even funny:
I TOTALLY want to steal this for a homemade Cards Against Humanity game. I can think of a few people who would pick it as an instant win. :D

I am not a fan of demodands but I wouldn't mind seeing a familiar option for them though like all the other major outsiders have.

More familiar options such as..
-a phoenix like one that can revive itself from death once a day and otherwise is a tiny/small size CR 2 version of a phoenix
-more tiny dragons like ones that looks like an imperial dragon, one that looks like a linnorm, one that can change into animals it size, one that breaths laughing gas, etc.
-an intelligent ooze that is safe to touch, doesn't use acid, and is hard to hurt physically.
-Flying snake/winged serpent with magical powers maybe like a familiar version of a couatl.
-Flying monkey...enough said.
-More fey type familairs and lets add Atomie and Grigs to the familiar list plus some aquatic fey.
-More construct familiars like a robot, tiny/small actual golem type one, and some alternative versions of Homoculi.
-Some tiny monstrous humaniods would be interesting.
-a Ghostly animal familiar option with ghost touch natural attacks instead of touch attacks.
-Some aberration type familiars of varius alignments.

SOmeone forgot to see the Coral Capuchin (flying monkey) entry in one of the Pirate AP's Bestiaries.

And why have all tiny versions of all creatures that have already been done? I rather see some very new ones that don't look like anything we have already.

I'd like to see a monster that reverses lycanthropy. Once a character in my group became a wereboar during a random encounter just outside a small town, and a few townsfolk were bit as well. The DM took the next logical step from that, and the townsfolk wereboars made a few more wereboars, and soon there were several dozen wereboars in that region. One prolific lycanthrope can create a lot of lycanthropes, and any number of those will make a few more. So I'd like to see a lycanthrope vampire of sorts, who steals the lycanthropy from others.

In Pathfinder, only a natural lycanthrope can create infected lycanthropes.

Liberty's Edge

Well, I did have my own idea for a Pathfinder-based Beholder substitute that also does its own thing, and I might be entering it in the next RPG Superstar competition.

Is one allowed to post those sorts of things before entering them, and if so, would you like to hear my idea?

Stuff that's too close to WotC IP might get disqualified on the "infringes copyrights" criteria, FYI.

Liberty's Edge

Well, It is pretty majorly different.

it's called The Handyman, and it looks like an 8-armed humanoid in Monkish (As in the D&D eastern-style monk) dress with a giant hand for a head. Curiously, all the creature's hands look like left hands.

It'd have a few monk-like Special abillities, as well as a different special effect upon a hit for each of its 8 arms (So far I'm thinking one poisons, one blinds; deafens and dumbs, one traps you in a Forcecage, one sets you on fire, one freezes you solid, one causes the hitee to erupt in ally-hitting lightning, one causes bad luck, and one sends you flying). In addition, any spell fired at it has a 50% chance of being "caught" by the creature's hand-head and thrown back at the user.

Society-wise, they're basically a bunch of Lawful Evil monks, following their own personal philosophy. Of course, given that they are aberrant creatures, said personal philosophies are often nonsensical, contradictory and often downright insane. They despise all those who don't follow their own warped personal philosophies. And since no two Handymen's personal philosophies are the same, they all pretty much despise each other.

It's supposed to be the rough equivalent of the Beholder in that it's a weird looking anatomy-themed monster with lots of different ways to hurt you and with an insane xenophobia and hatred of others. But I do hope it does enough new that it works as its own creature as well.

Grand Lodge

Not sure if it's been said yet, but Fir Bolgs. Giants from anceint Celtic mythology. Since Paizo likes drawing from real world mythologies.

Yes the Fir Bolgs have been said but the more people who ask for them the more chances of getting them.

The Coral Capuchin are more based on sea monkies in appearance then the flying monkies from Oz.

I would love to see some non-undead incorporeal creatures.

Creatures that hunt/eat/destroy undead.

Creatures that are the natural enemies of Lyconthropes would interesting.

Some more magic eating creatures.

Some more warrior bane monsters such as being immune to slashing, blugeoning, and/or piercing.

Another + for Firbolgs.

The Huldrefolk from Scandinavian folklore would be pretty cool. They are the cursed, fey-spawn of Adam and the devil Lilith in the stories, and live off of human society like leaches using powerful illusions and deceptions. They like stealing human infants and replacing them with their own voracious changeling offspring.

I like the 4th edition D&D version of the Fir Bolg, i'm not a big fan of the real myth Fir Bolg as they are just giants... We have Hill Giants already.

I think people get all hyped and excited when they hear Fir Bolg as they see the D&D and Warcraft versions of the Fir Bolg before them, but the real Fir BOlg legends state they are just large Woodcutter folk.

Fomorians get a +100 from me tho.

Huldrefolk actually show up (I think?) in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings CS book

Also +1 for Firbolgs and Fomor

Cool, they are in there! That's a nice surprise. I just bought that book but haven't yet read it.

By the way, what do you guys think of my idea for the Handymen?

tbok1992 wrote:

While the idea is not bad I don't really like the name + giving it a hand for head sounds too comical. :p

At least its better than a giant woodcutter called Fir Bolg tho. :D

tbok1992 wrote:

It could work. You could stick its face in the middle of its chest, and then have the eight (nine? one on top?) arms arrayed around its body.

A humanoid with a face in its chest and no head was called a Blemmyas by the ancient Romans. Medieval mapmakers sometimes drew them on their maps to fill in the unknown bits of Asia and Africa.

The Fir Bolg were giants and the original rulers of ireland before the celtic gods kicked them out. Personally I would like to see them as fey that just look like giants that can change into humans and/or animals.

tbok1992 wrote:

The idea isn't bad, but yeah...calling them the handymen might be a bit jokey. Somehow I seem them working better as some sort of Aeon than a aberration

I'd like to see the Hecatoncheires from Greek mythology. I'd also like to see the Gas Spore, but WotC might not allow it. And as far as I know Pagan Publishing makes all of the Mythos creatures they own the rights to available for licensing, so any Mythos creatures Paizo thinks are worth it should be available.

well...I have good news. The Hecatoncheires are in Bestiary 3. So that is one wish you can cross off
