Even high expectations can be exceeded

5/5

In my opinion, this is the best opening to a Pathfinder comics story arc yet.

I am a big fan of Red Sonja, Valeros and Erik Mona, so I went in with high expectations - all of which were met. I don't think it would matter if you are unfamiliar with either Red Sonja or the world of Golarion. I think this series is going to be an excellent introduction to both.

There was always a risk that the "transported to another place" element was going to be too obviously just an excuse for a crossover. For me, I barely gave it a second thought - the comic begins with a bang and immediately opens up questions and mysteries for the hero to solve. I found myself wondering along with him, rather than being pulled from the story. I started curious about how it was going to work and ended up thinking only about the story, with a dozen questions, theories and guesses - eagerly waiting for the next issue.

There is lots of action, lots of story and lots of personalities introduced. Exciting battle scenes, genuine humor and a cliffhanger ending - what else could one want from a Pathfinder comic?

The only minuscule issue I had was with the opening - I felt like I'd just missed out on another cool story....Then again, I'm always happy when the sole complaint I can find with a product is that there wasn't enough of it.

Erik, Red Sonja and Valeros remain solidly as a few of my favorite things. If you're even mildly curious - buy this comic. It's awesome. :)

I wonder what Sonja will do when she meets Ezren and Seoni?
She has a great dislike of wizards and sorcerers.
Will she try to kill them at first sight?
In 2 weeks we will know.

Having read Gail Simone's run on Red Sonja, the question I'm most interested in is, "How limber is Valeros?"

Does anyone know where I can find this version of this issue of Worldscape as a PDF?

So far you apparently can't. I know I want it in pdf format as well. That said, Erik Mona said he'd see what he could do about getting Dynamite to do it up in that format.

I hope Erik is successful. One of my two daughters lives with blindness but loves to play Pathfinder. She can't enjoy any Pathfinder material though unless it's in PDF format. :(

Dynamite have made all of the other comics available on comixology. I don't know if there's a delay or anything, but I can't see why they wouldn't do the same with this one.

EDIT: Here it is available on the 19th October, by the look.

Fantastic comic, Erik. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

Really, really good.

Not sure if Erzen is even in this. It's possible he got Harsk'd.

Looks like the line-up is the original 4: Valaros, Merisiel, Kyra and Seoni.

I kind of wish Erzen and Harsk had come along but so far I like the pace in this book.

Sometimes the plot of a book gets bogged down if there are too many characters. Add Red Sonja, Tarzan and all the others to our beloved Pathfinders and you could have a muddled mess.

Sadly that does not help my daughter as she is blind and therefore cannot access a PDF on a tablet or android phone as she cannot see them. She uses a special labtop with a special Braille keyboard. :(

I got an email from Dynamite about this issue in relation to blind customers. I'll let you know what I learn when I learn it.

I'm looking forward to picking this up at my comic store, the previous pathfinder comics have been fun reads with good art which is a win win for both to be good.

By the way,if anyone wants to use Red Sonya in her current write-up, she should have a bit more oomph. As far as I can see, the enhancement bonuses to attack and damage of her weapons were not included in her sheet.

Thanks Erik. :D

So my comics just arrived, this one and the limited edition.
Comics are awesome, but the posters in both have a minor flaw, both the same. Upper left segment has something that looks like an irregular fold or pressure line right through Red Sonjas face. Kind of a kink. Anyone else experiencing that?

Didn't have that problem with my copy Hayato. Maybe it has something to do with how it was shipped?

Delivery was in the standard Paizo white paper cover, didn´t have any problems there before.
This looks much more like a production thing, especially since both posters have the same flaw.
I don´t really mind for the normal edition, but the ultra-limited edition one is a different thing^^

Grand Lodge

With the Sword Devil archetype they made for Red Sonja, i'm wondering what archetypes they'd give to Kotar Sojak or Tarzan.

Yeah, I did too. I got two of the limited edition covers, the four regular covers (including the paizo exclusive) and another spare copy of one of the regular covers. All of them have the same 'crease' (slightly curved, an inch or two long).

My spare 'regular' copy was from my local comic shop, so it's not just those that came from Paizo.

Just picked this up. I really like the archetype, finally a spelless Ranger that I feel like I would actually use.

Also, the variant cover that's an homage to Death of Supergirl is great.

So, uh, I've noticed something about Red Sonja's stats. Her Challenge Rating is not accurate. Her ability scores are beyond what can be purchased with a 25 point buy and her gear is equal to a heroic-level PC instead of an NPC. So, yeah, she should be CR 9 instead of CR 7. Just putting that out there.

I found problems about sword-devil.

Ranger's camouflage and hide in plain sight ability need to be used in the favored terrain, but sword-devil archetype's slashing fury ability replaces the favored terrain ability.

So these two abilities become completely useless?...

Silver Crusade

You can take other archetypes to trade them out.

There are no other archetypes that you can mix with this one.

Silver Crusade

Hmmm... (yet anyway)
