Oh - I'm in Tark's other CoT, we're full up with a Witch, Inquisitor, Cleric, Tower Shield Grunt and Wizard.

The Rebels group has Shifty in it, so he can speak to their need.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

A cleric of Rovagug? Lol, I guess he's wreaking havoc all the time?^^

I think this scene sums up that character rather perfectly.

As to what the group requires that's entirely up to them. You're replacing a Magus.

They currently have an Urban support druid, a cupport cleric, a barbarian and an urban ranger made of kill. So take from that what you will.

I am thinking about a Sylph Wizard/Rogue. Will try to put it together later today, depends on time and work. Let me know if this would be a no go, and I will save the time. (Interesting, Sylph gives the same +2 Dex/Int, -2 Cha as tieflings.)

Just keep in mind you'll be facing many of the same troubles bloodless has. Tieflings are such a varied and mutable lot that most people in westcrown assume that a strangely shaped human is a tiefling first. And Tieflings are second class citizens in Westcrown even more so than a half orc.

He's a teddybear.... honest...

Well, my inquisitor hasn't seen him do anything specifically evil yet at any rate. Plus I mean they are kindred spirits of a sort.... I mean Rovagug is imprisoned and Milani is against imprisonment isn't she? ;)

I can always go with elf, just gets boring playing the same races. Let me think about it.

I can put a vote in for witches. They can be rather fun to play.

Oh and ZZ, HOM is puttering along nicely. It is strange seeing characters known from the books showing in the game but I am rolling with it.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ reggie: Have to admit that I found that strange too :)

Ha! I do not believe that auntie ran off after the whipperwills but with Wilber along we at least have a counter-hostage. Not that Regie would think that way of course. At least not yet...

of course using out-of-game knowledge Wilber may be more jailor or assassin than hostage, but Reggie is gleefully unaware of that.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Yeah, Wilbur...might not be the harmless boy he appears to be *_*
I wonder if Grmbln has read the book, because he was so overly interested in the iron door :)

I'm looking forward to HoM most days (if not that is more a matter of those days then of the campaign...), so yeah, you are doing great.

I think a thick iron door in a place like that is interesting enough ;), then, of course, I did read the book...and I am playing (GMing) CoC for about 15 years now...

I don't know if I'm able to post tomorrow, even if things move on, I'm on a rather tight shedule, since I will be watching an Edguy show tomorrow night.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

I just noticed that Charlie had posted...sorry, didn't know everyone was waiting for me...-__-

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Feytharn are you buying the German books or the English ones? I have a collection of ENglish ones but I recently paged through one of Pegasus' and I have to admit that they are far more quality.

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

If possible, I buy the German books. They are simply outstanding. Though I have some books (Cthulhu Invictus, Shadows of Yog Sothoth, some of the "Secrets of" books and of course Delta Green) in English. I also must admit that I am not a collector of everything Pegasus/Cthulhu, sadly my cash and my space are too limited for that...

The Lovecraft County series (Arkham Sourcebook/Adventures, Insmouth Sourcebook/Adventures (Kingsport is coming next year)) are exellent, btw.

If you like the quality of the German Books, try to get your fingers on some of the boxed sets, whether from pegasus (sometimes found for a few bucks at conventions) or from Laurin (sadly very expensive, but "Ägypten" is worth every dime ;) )

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Geez, sounds like I have to spend a lot of money...found some cheap books, but most are really expensive (orient express box, auf den inseln box, nyarlathotep box etc.)

If you want to sell some of your stuff, just inform me :)

Ha! This may not play me in the best light, but I would hope that you know me well enough to know fairly decently my level of intelligence. When playing the plethora of characters I played with my ex, I found a larger problem playing characters that were smarter than I am than I ever did playing characters that were less intelligent. It's really frustrating when you know that your character is more than smart enough to solve the puzzle in front of them but you take 3 sessions to finally figure out the first part.

Of course, it can also be frustrating (but liberating) to play a character with a child-like level of intelligence. It's the hardest to avoid metagaming in that situation I think.

Zyren:
Thank you for your sympathy. It was a rough night, indeed. The only input that I really have for my campaign is that I still think it would be nice to have other female characters in the group. Geez, what kind of a lady must people think Bree is :P

Bree wants more female characters in HORI. I think, I still have an AD&D deck of many things somewhere. If I remember correctly there was one card "change your gender" - any volunteers :)?

If the Orient Express Box is complete, it contains three books that were sold seperatly! That one will be worth (almost) any price!

But you won't get mine, they are mine, all mine, my precious...

The "Hexer von Salem" books are neat as well, and a bit different (pulp story Cthulhu ftw) (despite my dislike for Hohlbein), and since the price binding was released a few years ago, I saw the main book for under €5 and the adventures for under €2 a couple of times.

Never read the Dunwich horror but have read a few other Lovecraft stories. And that wasn't what spiked my interest in the door at all. Just thought it was odd to find a gert huge iron door on the second floor of a family home and odd is always interesting.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

yup, that are some of those I got cheap. Also orient express III (I guess there are four books in the box?!), Großmacht unterm Sternenbanner, Niemandsland, Bleicher Mond, Jenseits der Schwelle all for about 10€ each.

On playing smarter characters.

My trouble is playing more charismatic characters. I can do smart vs not so much but I can not be charming to save a kitten.

My I present Aerieth Deventis. Female Elf Rogue/Wizard. Will likely got Arcane Trickster and/or Arcane Archer in a few levels.

Let me know what people think, if you want I will post in your OOC thread so that people can decide if she will fit.

I think that my background fills in most of this but:

1) I am in Westcrown as it is near where I grew up and due to some past "indiscretions", the elf village has not allowed me to return to live there. I have a job making and repairing fine bows and arrows in Westcrown.

2) Life is about freedom and while I am not as opposed to the rule of law as are many elves, the absolute nature of the devil government in Cheliax needs to be overthrown. A return to the days of political intrigue and deceit, not the word of the devil is law.

3) Other then the occasional witty remark and bad attempts at humor, I offer decent offensive fire power, some moderate thieves skills, ranged damage and in a few levels, arcane trickery and archery.

4) She will always be quiet, it is her nature and an outgoing player with a 7 charisma is kinda out of character. Mechanically, I plan on a few more levels of wizard and rogue followed by a bunch of Arcane Trickery. If we make it that high, she will probably finish off with several levels of Arcane Archer at the end.

5) I remove my hood and politely say: Sir, while I have done wrong in the past, I do not believe that I am guilty at present. If you plan on administering justice, please use the left side of my face, that way I will have a matching scar. On the other hand, if you would like to have fun, you can take me home and I can scare the crap out of your teenage son - he will not be chasing girls for months after seeing me.

The Orient Express Box came with the forth book, so basically it contains only one book, but there are some who sell the complete Campaign in the box.

The other books mentioned are great, Niemandsland particularly. Jenseits der Schwell and Bleicher Mond are Adventure collections, both present rather unconventional Cthulhu adventures (that is probably why those two books are to be had cheaper then other Cthuloide Welten books, but they are well worth a look

Spoiler:

Bleicher Mond (BM) gets the characters to the moon and adds a possibility to have the travel to another era or another universe at the end.
König...Reich...Unten (BM) plots the characters against a kingdom of rats under a town in Vogtland.
Flüssige Finsternis(JDS) is a rather conventional adventure set in Germany connecting nicely to Cthulhu Mittelalter.
Der Herr der Winde(JDS) presents a chthuluesque look at Tolkiens inspiration for the Lord of the rings.
Die Plantage(JDS) I haven't played yet, but it seems rife with Deep South mood, while
Das Schloss in den Bergen(JDS) is a classic Dracula like vampire story (with a cthulueque twist) even set in Transsylvania.

Sometimes you find the old America Box cheaper then the book, if so, you might consider it. The Adventures in the box aren't the best they've done and the new book has got a little more material in it, but if you have a collection of Chaosium books, chances are you've got enough stuff about the USA anyway.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Voodoo: By now I have sent some characters below zero hit points (three or four times actually) but alway a healer was nearby. However, the Foxglove Mansion is so hard to master that I keep my fingers crossed for the Runelords party, they might actually all die...:)

@ Feytharn: I'd really like to get the Auf den Inseln Box and the Deutschland BOx, but I heard this one is reprinted soon, right? I have some Chaosium books about America (Arkham unveiled, compatc arkham unveiled, kinsport, dunwich, new orleans, new york, san francisco).

Zyren:
As you expect, Zyren, I am having a wonderful time! All three of the games are rather different and with my three characters they all have a different flavor. I am feeling very comfortable with Solaric and Kyren. Both of those characters have been really fun to play and the relationships with the other party members is great. Even Solaric and Pitr have seemed to work out their differences. I am having a much harder time playing Celestra. I am having a love/hate relationsip with her. Sometimes, I feel that she is having a difficult time making friends with the “boys” but then great moments still happen. I am still working out her manners and I am trying to find a better character hook than simply drinking in the pubs. I am also trying to be in more of an assistance role instead of the party face. To be honest, this is not easy for me. I have not always known what to post with her. I am still having fun with her, but I need to work on her as well.

In terms of your DMing, you continue to do a super job! Characters, maps and story are all super! Your frequency of posting is always superb! I feel bad that I have not been able to post as much this year. I hope you are still pleased with my level and quality of posting. There are times when I wanted to post more and have been unable to due to time constraits. Keeping balanced as a teacher, musician, spouse, and father has been challenging at time. Well, keep up the great sessions!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

DMHW:

Next year I'll also start a new job at a different school and I guess my posting rate will also suffer, anyway, you're still one of the most prolific players, so, no worries.

I'v noticed that celestra is hard for you to play. She is a bit torn between cheery/naive/resolute, I'm really looking forward to seeing her development.

To be fair I did ask up and down about it and got no response. When someone said they were going to do an oracle I figured we'd be alright. I kind of wear the "not a healer" tag on my sleeve. Next to the blood stains.

Heh - miscommunication there, I thought you were going to take some healing, which is why I went with 1 level of fighter to start. Figured 1 healer would work. I will take Oracle next level. Of course unless someone speaks Abyssal, nobody will understand Jez in battle.
