Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Hmm, OK who is REALLY interested in playing a D20 Cthulhu campaign?

Male Human Weapon Master 6 ~ Inv. Rager 4 | AC 24 T 13 FF 22 | HP 129/129 | F +14 R +6 W +7 | Init +2

are there seperate books for it Zyren? or using the Pathfinder core book with a Cthulhu setting?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

There is a separate core rulebook for it- looks like this Cthulhu D20

But I'D change some thing that I like better in pathfinder.

I might be up for it. I'd probably play a right coward.

Male Halforc Ranger 5

I'd definitely be up for it. Really like the whole Cthulhu Mythos and played Cthulhu D20 before. Probably play some form of massively sceptic scientist, refuses to believe any of this nonsense is happening until he has seen peer reviewed articles describing it kind of guy.

I'd be up for it. I'm joining another PbP here in a few days, but the one I really wanted to get into I didn't and that means I'll have more time on my hands. I've never looked into the system, though, so that might take me a bit to research up on.

I love Cthulhu. Did anyone ever play the Call of Cthulhu game for the original Xbox? Scared me so bad I had to stop playing it a few times.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Good afternoon everyone.

Sorry to all those I play with, life suddenly got hectic for me. I should be returning to my normal amount of posting tonight.

Two things: Yes, at your house. And the game is on sale on steam right now. Like eight dollars, I believe. I'm sure your computer could run it.

I'd be up for Cthulhu.

I played 'Dark corners of the Earth' and 'Prisoner of Ice',I missed 'Shadow of the Comet' though.

I'd play, but will need a little help with character creation. Any Noir detective types?

VC - Sydney, Australia

@DMZZ - One of my favourite rock acts (happen to be Australian) playing in Berlin tomorrow - http://www.airbournerock.com/ I've seen more than my sare of live rock acts, and these guys have it down to a fine art.
They are the AC/DC of the future...
Proof.

@BBB Yeah Noir detective was what I was thinking too, I have my English crime boss in the other London based campaign :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Mornin' everyone:

1) Short heads-up: Won't have internet access most of the day.

2) Anyone who is willing to join the Cthulhu thing: I'd like to see a character concept, consisting of: background, motivations, aspirations, personality traits etc... everything but rules. And a reason why your character is on the chevy bus from Boston to New York on the 12th of July 1927.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Since the game knows no classes you can be mega-inventive with your characters :)

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Morning, Zyren.

Male Wandering Nomad 3

I'm working on it already... auheauhea, been reading the rule book and I like it a lot. Do you want a completed character sheet, or do you want just the concept?

EDIT: Just read the "everything but rules" part of your post again. Forget my last question :P

Will try and get something together later tonight. I have BBQ to hit later so it will give me some thinkin' time.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I was thinking ex-NYPD plod come Private Eye who moonlights as a contributer/freelancer to the Boston Globe and its parent paper NY Times covering 'crime related stories' and other such lurid bits of titilation.

Male Wandering Nomad 3

I'm working on a young investigative reporter, working undercover as a small time criminal trying to uncover the structure of the mob from the inside, and not getting very far with it (uncovering the mob, not working on the character, for clarification).

VC - Sydney, Australia

Well that would have three of us with tie-ins...

NY based G-Man (FBI Agent) tasked with researching mysterious diappearances and murders. Having seen some crazy things during WW1 as intelligence agent he was a natural when he returned home from the front. But, the demons stuck with him and he has a alcohol/herion problem. He sees things sometimes, but is not sure if he really sees them or they are drug fueled hallucinations. He was reporting back to NY after being contacted that this happened"
More than a century after her death, a sealed box, owned by Joanna Southcott and said to contain her final prophecies, was opened at Westminster.Inside the container was a pistol, a nightcap, some coins and other personal belongings..." (Really happened 11 July, 1927. But nothing mysterious was found in the box. Thought it made for a nice bit of fluff though.) I will work on this fella a little more later. Got go for now. Ciao.

Hm... maybe I could tie in with you, Shifty? If you're freelancing for the Boston Globe, I could maybe play a cowardly editor hired there, and who's...I don't know, the friend who recommended that your character tried freelancing for BG?

Just brainstorming.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Some interesting thoughts here already. I wonder with what elso you come up and how you want to flesh out the characters.

Though I'm suprised you all came up with so many similar ideas.

I really had expected a vodoo trumpeteer from New Orleans, a native american shaman, a business man, a professor, a starlet etc. :)

Now we have a bunch of reporters and cops^^

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Good Morning everyone. For those of you in the USA, Happy Independence Day. Don't blow yourselves up, and if you're grilling, don't burn the meat.

Most of the time human, angle left, devil right Manager/1

I am interesting in Cthulhu too. I will try to develop a character concept by the end of this week. Maybe some sort of a comedian, a magician (I guess there are spells right?), or a author, or or or....

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

There are spells, but you need to read tomes about the cthulhu mythos in order to get them. So, in the beginning you could be a "normal magician" like Sigfried or Roy, but no spells in the beginnint ;)

Is it safe to assume the spells also have a bit of a risque factor about them?

I need to read up on the necessary material if I'm to make a character. What should I be looking for?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Yes, since spells don't have levels like in normal D20, they damage or drain your abilities or sanity...pretty risky, but very powerful.

The core rulebook is a good start for reading, the changes I will introduce will mostly be skill changes like listen+spot=perception.

Male Half-Elf (Taldan) Bard (Archivist) 7 Drow Stats 51/51 hp;AC 19/T 14/FF 16; F +2/R +8/W +3; Int/Wis Skills -1

Looks like fun. I am too busy to deal with other rulesets currently, but will follow with interest.

Male Halforc Ranger 5

I shall now ruin the trend by introducing a disgraced scientist to the mix. Kicked out of his research fellowship for conducting odd experiments with very little commercial application or basis in scientific knowledge, seen as a bit of charlatan by most of the scientific community and so has become a pariah, unable to get funding for any of his research. Has come to New York out of desperation for some vague job offer he got in the mail. Highly intelligent and knows it, looks down on most people and particularly on the religious. Staunch Atheist (which should be fun when all the weirdness starts going down).
I'll write him or her up in detail in the next few days.

I think the thing with Cthulhu is that normal people, unsure of their skills, don't tend to go poking their noses into trouble, especially when the bodies start to pile up! I would have considered the whole Voodoo angle, but the Boston/NY link is outside that area. Starlets are only good for feinting at the sight of anything, no fun posting [/ooc]Still unconscious[/ooc] each round... :p

I probably would not play a combat-efficient character. I mean, it'd probably be something amongst the lines of...
Round 1: throws up
Round 2: cowers in fear
Round 3: wets pants
Round 4: "AM I ALIVE D:"

I'm back from a long weekend of Larp! How was everybody's 4th of July, for those who celebrate it?

I'll jump back into game as soon as I figure out what exactly Sable and Korax are up to. For now, assume they've gone daffy and are slow dancing to whatever Golarion's version of "My Endless Love" would be.

He could always be out looking for other snipers.

Mornin'

@ Sable:

Good to see you back! You could either be toegether with Kabal in front of the mission or upstairs with the others.

@ Shifty:

One could also be the bus driver ;)

@ Kanyk:

Sounds cool, of what kind of experiments did you think?

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Good morning, Zyren.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

I'm headed to bed, it's been a long last few days. *Sigh*. Goodnight everyone, merry gaming.

I'm heading to work in some minutes, busy tuesday, so no posting till evening.

Well it being the 30s/40s they could have been something to do with the effects of radiation on the human body. Oh wait! Schrodinger came up with the wave equation some time in the 1920s and the Copenhagen interpretation got firmed up in the 30s. Some kind of ridiculous practical application of quantum theory would be cool. Teleportation or instantaneous communication or something similar. Or if we are getting proper ridiculous, controlling an object or person remotely by somehow quantum entangling all of the particles in their body or somehow controlling them with a quantum computer. Oh the weird possibilities are endless.

Perfect way to accidentally make contact with things you don't really want to make contact with too.

Oh if you want to go full mad scientist he or she could have been trying to show that large objects can be diffracted by firing live animals at a double slit out of a cannon.

*blink* *blink* Now THERE'S something you don't see every day!!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

And something you really DON'T want to see every day!

Ayup, not something you'd want to see. The whole interference shown in more massive objects thing is really cool though. I mean people have shown interference with fullerenes and one of my professors is trying it with microscopic polystyrene spheres, which are crazy huge in the quantum regime.

Well, lemme tell you . . . 7/4 marks the end of Celebration Season for me. I get a lot of high-powered celebrations concentrated in a few weeks:

Late June: School ends. Means my wife (teacher) gets to calm down a little.
6/21: birthday (40 this year!! yikes)
near 6/21 (sometimes on): Father's Day
7/1: Anniversary (16th!!!)
7/4: Independence Day

so yeah, things are finally winding down. now it's just "summer."

anyone else?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

I have a pretty big summer project...cataloguing my rpg library and sorting out things that I won't use anymore...then selling it all on Ebay -_-

Looks like I'll have to keep a close eye on bids ;)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Hah! I guess shipping fees are too high too make that attractive for you :)

Besides that: Used RPGs are much more expensive in Germany that in the US or GB.

D&D 3.5 Players Handbook is about 110$ here usually.

My Character idea for Cthulhu will either be
- antique dealer
- Boxer
- Pilot
- Architect
- Tax investigator

But I will make up my mind by end of this week

or yourself maybe?

Anyone remember Dr.Lizardo?
