I have to tell you how great my London experience started: Saturday morning I took a quick stroll through the neighbourhood of my hostel and found a "Second hand book shop - aid for animals" I decided to check it out and about twenty minutes later went out with
D20 Dragonslance Dragons of Krynn
AD&D Planescape Planes of Law Box
Warhammer Grudgelore
D&D Journey to the Rock
MERP The Necromancers Lieutenant
Rogue Trader The Frozen Reaches
Dark Ages Werewolf
- all in great condition!
for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 15 pounds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!rule Britannia
oh, and the best thing is I saved some cats with that...I gave a 5 pound tip and still felt bad.... especially when the old lady running the shop was like "thank you, thank you, you are so generous...."

Hahaha,so very nice! The Dust Tactics Revised Core Set Allies, ZZ. I really prefer the Axis side, but that is just me. Some of the Allies have pretty cool models, but I had a terrible, wonderful idea for painting up the zombies given my assumption the Waffen SS is responsible for them. I also like that the Allies have looks like a Metal Slug walker.

I love it when I get the chance to make Bree misunderstand something due to her lack of social skills and having been raised by street urchins.
In other news, my toe is feeling mostly better. I can walk without limping now! Yay!

Yeah we're going to watch it in 3D too. I hope we get there early enough to get good seats though. We watched another movie 3D in seats that were too close to the screen and too off to the side, it made the 3D more annoying than cool.

I enjoyed the first one more but this one had still had a bunch of cool elements. The interactions between characters is still right on target. Seriously Bones, Spock and Jim are spot on in their roles. There's definitely a dark aspect to it. Seems much more gritty than any previous installment of the series.

Same. I don't really like much of their stuff, I have seen a few of the 'normal' ones but they just weren't all that. I can appreciate the cheeze and corn of the Shatner era ST, but that's only due to some kind of retro-endearment, like Old Skool BSG (which was still better)
New BSG was awesome.

Both of the new Star Treks have made me smile, and that's coming from a fairly long standing trekkie as well. It's got the heart of the original series - and I think most of the bah humbuggers would complain no matter what they do.
It's not really that 'dark' by modern standards though, on par with the earlier films just updated to suit modern sensibilities.
On another note - any Eclipse Phase fans in the audience around the campfire?

Hey folks, so I'll be leaving for Germany on Friday, and I'm not sure what the internet situation will be for me this summer. I'll let you all know when I arrive and figure out housing, but if you don't hear from me for a while, don't be too surprised and feel free to RP me for a bit.

FYI, my posting is going to get more regular, yet less frequent. I won't be able to check the site from work anymore except for lunch breaks due to tighter security/screening, starting tomorrow.

I remember a time about two years ago when I would get up in the early morning hours, post every free minute during the day, and then stay up til the late hours of the night getting in an extra post. I would even wake up in the middle of the night to sometimes check and post. I was posting as much as I could and still having trouble keeping up with the campaigns. They were intense, exciting times, but my work and family life suffered terribly. My problem was that I was so hooked on the story lines that I could not stop myself from checking. I also felt like I was letting everybody down if I didn't post every couple of hours. I think I am a lot more balanced right now, but I remember those times fondly.

Yeah Happy Memorial Day - not that we have that one downunder!
I hear ya DMHW, I think there is always the temptation to be a post monster, and I think you and I are probably slightly on the naughty list in that regard, but for me I struggle to maintain interest when things drag out too long - waiting several days to make a three line post gets kind of makes it a bit meh. I'm actually starting to hate the combats, as they just take sooooo looooong to resolve and when one starts it now gets in the way of storyline, which is concerning in a game largely devoted to sword and sorcery :P

I have been a little slow the last few weeks as RL has taken some strange twists, but still try to keep up as best I can. Probably still averaging somewhere above 20 total posts per day, but not quite as creative as in the past.
I have stopped trying to carry slow campaigns on my back. There are several which I check when someone else posts, but if nobody else feels the need to post to keep a slow campaign moving, I am not going to keep trying to keep it alive. I have enough good solid campaigns that stressing over those in which several players just do not seem to care is not something that I have the time for.

Well that has been a contributing factor to my withdrawing from at least one campaign; on one hand I felt I had to keep pushing and keeping it going, and then on the other the suggestion was that I was hogging the limelight/being OP. Happened a few of times, the first time I just pulled back, which left the thing crawling along, Now I just leave.
I am liking the GM hat though.

Well hopefully mine aren't too slow for ye :P
I've had the busy joy of babysitting both my chidlets today while my wife is at a conference... though it is a reasonable size one.
I know my DM pace has suffered as my work kicked back in, but I'm hopefully at a happy medium where peeps aren't getting too frustrated with me. I know I've my flaws, but I do try.
Player wise I've also settled back into picking and choosing which campaigns I take an active role in driving forward. Though it's easier for me to player post, so I'm reasonably quick acting there ;)

Likewise, my DMing has slowed a little for my one campaign as it takes a much larger block of time to get the maps ready and then reconcile the party's actions. Most of my campaigns are still going at a reasonable pace. The campaign that was running at about 100 posts per day has slowed to 20+ at this point. A few have started to really lag, but I will wait and see if they pick up, if not, c'est la vie.

It's not 'babysitting' if they are your own children... it's just being a parent :P
@ZZ- feel better soon!
