Slumbering Tsar - Recruiting for new PBP (PFRPG rules)

Gamer Connection

1 to 50 of 104 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

Perched on the verge of the war-torn wasteland known as the
Desolation stands a settlement of dire reputation. Known only as
The Camp, this wretched collection of criminals and scoundrels, the
desperate and the hopeless, all eking out an existence on the far
fringes of civilization make this truly a place of new beginnings and
horrific endings. Now things stir within the Desolation and call to
heroes seeking secrets and treasures lost to the knowledge of men.
The promises of reward dare the brave and the foolish both to seek
their fortune in The Camp—out on the very edge of oblivion.

Greetings all! I am seeking a committed group of about 6 players to try their pbp hands at Slumbering Tsar, the very cool (and very difficult) old school mega-adventure published by Frog God Games. This will be a game using PFRPG rules, and characters will start at 7th level.

This is not a first-come, first-served callout, so please tell me a little bit about yourself as a gamer, and let me know what sort of character idea you have in mind. I'll pick the six that appeal to me the most after a few days of accepting submissions.

Some notes to keep in mind:

1. The adventure is very open and sandboxy. Please note that players will need to make proactive decisions to keep the adventure's momentum moving forward. Experienced players are preferred for this reason (but newcomers to the medium of pbp are welcome).

2. The adventure is very (very!) difficult. It is easy to get in too deep, and sometimes discretion will be the better part of valor. Even so, player characters are very likely to die at some point. Again, experienced players are preferred.

3. The rules are PFRPG, but the world is not Golarion. It's set in the world of Necromancer Games' old products, but if you aren't familiar with places like Bard's Gate and Rappan Athuk, it's no problem. The adventure takes place out on the fringes of civilization anyway, so geographic and historical details aren't that important.

4. Full character sheets are not needed at this time, just character concepts (the more detailed the better, though! I'm interested in physical appearance, personality, unique characteristics...as well as name, race/class and all that).

5. Material from Paizo (including the APG and Ultimate Magic once it hits) is likely to be accepted, material from third parties is likely not to be. You should also know that I hate Summoners and will not accept one. :P

6. Evil aligned PCs will be considered if they can function well as part of the larger group without party infighting. Same goes for monstrous race PCs, within reason.

If you have questions not covered above, feel free to ask away! I look forward to coming up with some good players to give this a go. Thanks!

DM

Spoiler:

How about 1 level of summoner? I promise to never take anymore!

Take a look at grusk and let me know what you think!

Does the game use Golarion gods?

Also, by very difficult, do you mean that characters need to be optimized up the ying-yang, or that it requires intelligent play?

Please consider Venedictus. He was made for an aborted pbp of Age of Worms, but his backstory is easily changed to reflect him coming to The Camp.

Feel free to check out the various pbps I've been in, including the one I'm currently GMing (Arcadia - Land of Opportunity) to see my playstyle.

Grusk,

Spoiler:
Sorry, man, it's really not going to work for me. But please do feel free to submit something else!

hey, new poster (never pbp before) but long time rpg'er here. ive role played steadily since first edition and am familiar with pfrpg. i can post at least once a day if not more and work well in group dynamics.

Syndir:

Human - Monk 4/Sorcerer 3/Dragon Disciple 1

Born to a wealthy family Syndir showed natural talent from a young age and was sent to the best schools to cultivate the powers within him. He also expressed an equal desire in martial skills but was deemed to frail looking to train in heavier styles of combat so he was taught the arts of hand to hand self defense as well.
As the wyrm inside of him began to awaken his masters encouraged him to seek out self discovery in the world beyond the city's walls.
Training in the sun's heat has left him deeply tanned. He keeps himself clean shaven and stands 5'9" at a lean 180 lbs. He is prone to eatiing lightly although he has found a new hunger for raw meat which he tends to only divulge in private.

Venedictus wrote:

It does not. A good substitute for Shelyn might be Freya. Somewhere, I have a brief document from a few years back with limited info about the Necromancer/Frog God pantheon. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Venedictus wrote:

Absolutely the latter. Even super-optimized characters will get wrecked at certain points if players make foolish decisions. Players will need to build combat-effective characters (not synonymous with Munchkinized!) and make good tactical decisions.

Venedictus wrote:

I certainly will.

Hello the names Havoc XIII as you have probably guessed by now I'm showing interest in this endeavor. I propose Sieg a human ninja, or Aleister a bladebounded magus. With an evil (at least rp wise) bastard sword.

I've been in multiple rps on this site you can check them out if you wish.

As this is headed toward being a high-level campaign, I should mention one house rule: I will limit multi-class PCs to three total class options, only one of which may be a Prestige Class.

Thought of this when I saw Syndir. He doesn't break the rule, obviously, but food for thought for others.

Liberty's Edge

I'd love to toss my hat into the ring for this if I could. I played in a very short lived slumber tsar PbP that was a lot of fun a year or so back and loved it, even though we barely managed to leave the first camp.

Me

Spoiler:

I've been a gamer for an awful long time now, touching on an awful lot of different systems. I'm normally a DM and am running one PbP on these boards, though I love the fact that PbPs let me get in and do some RP as a player.

I played through Rappan Athuk(well most of it, and probably 5 characters worth of deaths) so I have an idea of the kind of punishment we can be up for in a game like this and I love the tactical aspects that come with that as well as how it encourages teamwork.

Character

Spoiler:

For my character, I think I would likely lean towards a paladin. Rather than being the traditional uptight paladin I see him as being more of a understanding leader who rose in the ranks among men in an army due to his way with the men and found his calling there after a battle against a force that ended being backed by a clearly evil power. In leading his men to face them he uncovered a strength in himself that has guided him to confront greater evils than the squabbles over territory an army man would normally face.

Obviously this is a rough outline and once I get to know a bit more about the world and gods from the document you mentioned above I can add a bit more firmness to the fluff of it all. Also, I enjoy making characters so I'll probably whip up an Oracle of Battle as well that could play the same role but offer more healing if the party needs it.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

I can vouch for Tarlane.

Liberty's Edge

Why thank you, Chris. That was a really great game you ran, I wish we could have gone all the way through, you were a lot of fun as a DM.

Sieg is a young ninja who has come into the desolation as a final hiding place. His masters believe him to have murdered his clans men. Though it was in truth self defense the two had jumped him because of envy. He has managed to survive thus far even though in his last 'home' his clan found him and he left three dead before escaping.

Would you be willing to allow a kusari-gama? It would essentially be a scorpion whip wielded in two hand. The melee end is the kama end and the ranged end is the weighted end.

How about a

Spoiler:

Grippli humanoid/frog creature

Grippli Characters
Gripplis are defined by their class levels—they do not possess racial Hit Dice. They have the following racial traits.

•+2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, –2 Strength: Gripplis are nimble and alert, but spindly.
•Small: Gripplis are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
•Fast Speed: Gripplis have a base speed of 30 feet and a base climb speed of 20 feet.
•Darkvision: Gripplis can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
•Camouflage: +4 Stealth in marshes or forested areas.
•Swamp Stride: A grippli can move through difficult terrain at its normal speed while within a swamp. Magically altered terrain affects a grippli normally.
•Weapon Familiarity: Gripplis are proficient with nets.
•Languages: Gripplis speak Common and Grippli. Gripplis with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Boggard, Draconic, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Sylvan

witch 5 / rogue 2

I have heard whispers about Rising Tsar. Nothing that would ammount to spoilers just "My god you have to see this!" sort of thing. So I would like to.

Please allow me to introduce "Agamemnon", "Agie" to his friends.

He is an NG Free hand Fighter 7. I am not known for optimizing but if I see something nifty I may shift things to go for it.

For race I am considering Human or Half-elf. Agie is not an overly complicated character mechanically. He will be interested in discovering things and protecting the new life he has built in Camp in about equal measure. He will not be open to examining what led him to Camp. Agamemnon is not his real name and there is a reason for that. (Just wish I knew what it was.)

As for me I have been gaming since before they used color in the rule books. I tend to play smart and cautious. I am a sucker for flavor and story. This leads to suboptimal choices I'm afraid. I will gleefully nerf my own character for flavor. If I tell you that Agie was very nearly (and still may turn out to be) a Druid 1/ Staff (weapon) Master 6 you will see what I mean.

I tend to post frequently and rather expressively if I may say that about myself. If you would like a sample of what you would be getting if you choose me I would like to direct your attention to Alfonso, Creel, and Love. When I tell you that I fully expect Love to survive the Tomb Of Horrors you will understand what I mean by playing smart and cautious.
Thank you for your consideration. This looks like it will be an amazing game.

I would like to be considered for this. (I have wanted to play in this for so long!) I would propose a straight Rogue (in a similar style to Gord) or a straight Paladin. I have been both a player and DM since 1987 and have played extensively in various campaign settings. I am also very familiar with the Necromancer games world. I would propose that the Paladin character originally hailed from Bards Gate. The Paladin would probably a follower of Muir. His backstory would involve his foray into the Stoneheart dungeon as well as his attempt to cleanse them.

The Rogue character would have been mainly wilderness based, having been brought up in The Grey Citadel of Dun Eamon, high in the Stoneheart Mountains. The rogue will have taken up with several different adventuring bands in doomed attempts to delve into Rappan Athuk. Again, the backstory would reflect this.

I would not want to multi-class.. Just single traditional class for 'First Edition Feel'

I am currently running a Rise of the Runelord adventure on here as well.

Also, I have copied the Necromancer Games World 'key gods' below:

Thyr

Spoiler:
Gods of Good
Thyr, God of Law and Justice
Alignment: Lawful Good
Domains: Law, Good, Healing, Knowledge, Protection
Typical Worshipers: Humans, Royalty
Favored Weapons: Light or Heavy Mace
Thyr is the god of wise and just rule. He is normally
depicted as a wizened king seated on a great throne
holding a rod of kingship in one hand and a chalice
of peace in the other hand. His principles are Justice,
Order and Peace. He represents proper and traditional
rule and as such was once worshiped (at
least with lip service) by all human royalty. He is
the embodiment of the enlightened human caste system
where each person fairly has their place in a
lawfully ordered society aimed at the good of all
people. His priests wear white robes trimmed with
silver, purple or gold, the colors of kingship. His
symbol is a silver cross on a white field, symbolizing
the upturned cross-haft of his sister’s sword,
which he thrust into the earth to end the god’s war.
Upon seeing the blood of so many gods shed, Thyr
foreswore the use of swords and his priests, for this
reason, may not use bladed weapons. Many favor
reinforced rods, similar to light maces, modeled after
Thyr’s own rod of kingship. The noble eagle and
lion are his sacred creatures. The Burial Halls of
Thyr and Muir are also known as the Stoneheart
Mountain Dungeon and are detailed in the Necromancer
Games module The Tomb of Abysthor.

Muir

Spoiler:
Muir, Goddess of Virtue and Paladinhood
Alignment: Lawful Good
Domains: Law, Good, Protection, War
Typical Worshipers: Humans, Paladins
Favored Weapons: Longswords or Bastardswords
Muir is the sister of Thyr. Where he represents Law
and Peace, she represents the martial valor necessary
to make that peace a reality. As such, she is the
goddess of paladins. She is often depicted as a darktressed
maiden warrior in shining mail with an upraised
(often bloodstained) sword. She is noble and
single-minded of purpose. The tenets of her worship
include Honor, Truth and Courage. A great order of
paladins, known as the Justicars, are sworn to her
service. She expects self-sacrifice, humility and
charity as well as unswerving loyalty. Her standards
are extreme and she quickly turns her back on any
who fail to live up to them. Those who maintain her
standards, however, may become Justicars—a prestige
class of paladins imbued with even greater holiness.
Her symbol is a blood-red uplifted sword on a
white background, symbolizing her endless fight
against evil. Her worshipers must be lawful good,
and only clerics of Muir may ordain Justicars. The
falcon is her sacred animal. She is the tireless foe of
all evil creatures and undead, demons and devils in
particular are her sworn enemy. The Burial Halls of
Thyr and Muir are also known as the Stoneheart
Mountain Dungeon and are detailed in the Necromancer
Games module The Tomb of Abysthor.

Freya

Spoiler:

Freya, Goddess of Love and Fertility
Alignment: Neutral Good
Domains: Good, Healing, War, Animal
Typical Worshippers: Human females
Favored Weapons: Longsword, longbow
Freya is a lesser goddess of love and fertility. Freya
is also the leader of a great band of women warriors—
known as Valkyries on some planes of existence.
Freya represents fertility in all its forms. On
this plane, Freya represents the cycle of death and
rebirth. She is a goddess of the coming harvest as
well as a goddess of sexuality and procreation. Her
beast is the falcon, though she is fond of the winter
wolf and the stag. She appears most frequently to
her worshipers as a beautiful human woman dressed
in robes and a cloak of winter wolf fur, though she
occasionally appears as a hunter in leather armor
with sword and bow, or as a warrior in shining mail
and glowing sword. She can take the form of a falcon—
or any other bird—at will, as well as the form
of a huge winter wolf.

Arden

Spoiler:

Arden, God of the Sun
Alignment: Neutral Good
Domains: Air, Good, Sun, War
Typical Worshipers: Of old he was worshiped by
humans, though Arden is not currently worshiped on
this plane
Favored Weapons: Sun staff, short sword
Arden is a lesser avatar of the sun god Ra, as worshiped
on this plane of existence. He is depicted as a
hawk-headed, muscular man wearing a short skirt of
precious metals and jewels. His eyes have the power
to shoot searing beams of sunlight. He carries a staff
tipped on one end with a bronze sphere representing
the sun containing an ankh and on the other end with
a bronze hawk head. This staff is known as a sun
staff and is carried by his worshipers. They are
treated as quarterstaves. He also wields a bronze
short sword. His worshipers who select the War domain
are proficient with the short sword in addition
to their normal proficiencies. Arden was long ago
destroyed by evil deities, including Tsathogga, the
frog-demon. His remains were gathered and treasured
by his worshipers as relics. However, it has
been ages since Arden has been worshiped on this
plane.

Hectate

Spoiler:

Hecate, Goddess of Evil Magic
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Domains: Law, Evil, Magic, Knowledge
Typical Worshipers: Wizards, Women
Favored Weapons: None.
Hecate is the goddess of evil magic. She appears as
a beautiful woman flanked by numerous hell
hounds, her favored creature. The setting moon is
her symbol. She requires sacrifices on the full moon.
Her priests are normally accompanied by hell
hounds sent by their goddess to guard her temples.
Clerics of Hecate have a special rapport with the
beasts, allowing a chance to control them as they
would undead. Hecate is a jealous goddess, capricious
and quick to anger. One of her greatest priestesses,
Akbeth, is imprisoned in the Necromancer
Games dungeon module Rappan Athuk—The Middle
Levels. The Necromancer Games module The
Quest for the Sword of Air is set in a hidden temple
dedicated to Hecate. She resides in a floating castle
in the Nine Hells.

Set

Spoiler:

Set, God of Evil and the Night
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Domains: Law, Evil, Knowledge, Death
Typical Worshipers: Evil power-seeking humanoids,
evil monks, assassins
Favored Weapons: Cobra staff, Spear of Darkness,
poisoned weapons
Set is a greater god, worshiped on many planes in
many forms. He most often appears as a scaled humanoid
with the head of a jackal. He is utterly dedicated
to the orderly spread of evil and oppression. His
symbol is the coiled cobra, though any snake can be
used to represent his power. His temples are filled
with enormous serpents, always poisonous. His skin is
poisonous to the touch. Organized groups of assassins
are known to be dedicated to his worship. His priests
carry staves worked on one end into the head of a cobra.
The cobra head is normally tipped with steel fangs
coated with poison. His clerics also often carry a stylized
black spear, representing the Spear of Darkness
he carries. Many of his worshipers tattoo themselves
with serpents or cobras. An evil sect of monks dedicated
to Set and led by a vampire is detailed in the
Necromancer Games module Vampires and Liches.
He, too, makes his home in the Nine Hells.

Hel

Spoiler:

Hel, Goddess of Death, Lady of Pestilence
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Domains: Evil, Death, Plant, Animal
Typical Worshipers: Diseased and disease-causing
creatures, evil humanoids, evil druids, women, bards
Favored Weapons: Poisoned Dagger or Sword
Hel is known to spread disease, pestilence and plague
with the wave of her hand. Any living thing in her
presence withers and dies. She appears as a strange
gaunt woman of both jet black and blankest white.
Diseased creatures worship her. It is said a strange cult
of druidic ghouls and mummies worship her in a secret
temple hidden from the knowledge of mortals, spreading
their foul diseases in secrecy. Several sects of evil
druids dedicated to Hel plague the land, summoning
swarms of vermin and causing disease in living things.
She cares for nothing other than the spread of death.
Oddly, some evil bards worship her. She resides on a
plague ridden plane in Hades.

I would also like to throw my hat in as a candidate.

About Myself:

I have been playing DnD for 5 years now, with brief stints in the Earthdawn, Shadowrun, World of Darkness, Dresden Files and Legend of the Five Ring campaign settings. Currently I am playing in a Legend of the Five Rings campaign and a Pathfinder campaign (both being local groups I meet up with).

I used to do a ton of PbP back when I was in High School, but I got stopped when I went to college. Just starting back into the saddle, if you will.

I also enjoy thinking sideways, and I think my favorite thing to do in a campaign is have the GM look at me and go 'I wasn't expecting anyone to think of that'.

Character Ideas:

So, I have a couple different character ideas set up. The first idea is a Dwarven Paladin 2/Monk 5, Zen Archer. He is old, perhaps the last of his particular order, I am not sure. He loves to play games and seems to act alot like Santa Claus would, giving gifts and small amounts of money to children and the poor. He refuses to talk to anyone about his past however, seems very personal to him. His has a think, grey beard and his head is so bald, if you polished, you could see your face.

Second Idea is a Halfling Ninja(If you won't allow Ninjas from the Ultimate Combat, than this Halfling is a Rogue with the Sniper Archetype) She is very serious, and while her temper is not particularly fierce, she has been more than known to hold a grudge. She is more than happy to sell her services to the highest bidder, but she also has a code of some sort, she will refuse a contract without reason or comment. She has a wisps of red hair that fall out from underneath a green bandanna that matches her eyes, and she carries a heavy crossbow with her wherever she goes. She is currently single, and after what happened to her last boyfriend, men and women alike are happy to leave her be.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi, havoc, I'll probably have to veto the ninja, just because I don't want to run a playtest class for this game. Magus idea works though.

Good stuff! Actually, as a longtime lurker here on the boards, I remember reading along in your game, Chris! I don't know if I can live up to your standards as DM, but I'll give it my best shot.

All that aside, welcome to the mix, Tarlane.

Yep, that could work. Neat idea, in fact.

Out of curiosity, why the spoilers? Is it okay if I include your idea in a list of character submissions? (I guess that question applies to a few other would-be players too!) Are y'all being secretive, or just conserving space?

Welcome one and all to AJs Dad, Poor Wandering One, and Ganny!

Ganny, please see my previous reply for my stance on the ninja class.

Bonus points to AJs Dad for posting the god information! That's exactly what I was going to post, so thanks for saving me the trouble. :)

I was just conserving space and have no problems with you sharing my idea in a list.

Syndir wrote:

Awesome. Said list will help me keep all these cool ideas straight. :)

This is Eric, and I would like to propose Rasina Songhair for consideration. She was actually in two Slumbering Tsar games, the one ran by Chris Mortika, and another short lived one.

Tarlane I can also vouch for, he is a great player.

Liberty's Edge

Hello there Eric, all kinds of familiar faces in this thread.

Rasina and I got along quite well in the previous incarnation of the game.

Yeah, I have no issue with adding my stuff to the character submitted list, Toothless. Just trying to conserve space. Which character would you prefer more, the Halfling or the Dwarf?

I would be very interested in playing in your game Toothless Dragon.

Me
I replaced my DM for a spell in Scipion Kingmaker's PbP, where I play Corso. I play in a few other play by post (Trevor in James' Carrion Crown, Tania in Wrath's RotRL, Noche'Wa in Nazard's Arcadia). I also started an E6 PF Eberron game recently. I've been playing for a very long time now (has it been 25 years? Already!?!).

Application

Abigail Garrett

Concept:

In Brief
Abigail is a survivor. She played the game, paid the cost, in what she thought was a small town, and got access to power. She kept playing and growing, until she figured she was loosing herself. She comes to The Camp looking for her roots, for a reason to remain hopeful.
Human (could also be half-elf or elf) Wizard 7, Cleric 7 of Hecate or a mix of both.

Description
Abigail has a very "polished" appearance. Her dark hair are tied back in a bun, all the while keeping her long ears in check. She has a fine and regal complexion, with high cheekbones and a thin chin. Her dark grey eyes are even and calm, as is her smile, never expanding too far, humble, shy, enticing. She favors elegant dresses that are of a simple design, yet show a certain sophistication in the choices made. Comfort and effect, whether social or physical, are to be combined in a perfect form, as in all things.

Personality
Abigail has lost her faith in people. Yet there is a sliver of hope left within her heart. She believes in hope, in redemption, while understanding that the world is harsh and forces behavior that is unnatural. Generous, she is looking for the right way to bring people away from harshness, to a place where they can contribute to a greater good. Form and harmony are paramount in her actions, and she favors economy in movement and words. She remains calm and maintains her composure at all cost.

Background
Life in Chilkoot Pass was simple for young Abigail. "Mother" Fensworth was kind and indulging the young elf, getting her beautiful dresses, caring for her hair, teaching her the subtle arts of dancing, singing and, as she blossomed into puberty, seduction.

Life was simple, and life was good. She enjoyed the walks around Chilkoot Pass, with "Mother" Fensworth, where people were so kind and gentle to her. She remembers her walks with Mister Duncan, "Mother" only a few steps behind. Mister Duncan was such a gentleman! He was showering her with gifts.

But something felt wrong. Her training took a life of its own, and she started to feel "Mother" was playing a game of her own.

"Mother"'s play became evident as the days passed. She was selling her virginity to the highest bidder. She had been groomed and bred over the years, like a horse!

She decided to make the best of it. She extended the courtship, played hard to get, finally to squeeze out of Mister Duncan his greatest treasure: his arcane art. In exchange, she accepted his misguided love, and became his concubine for a few years. He provided her first spellbook and kept showering her with gifts. Eventually, she got bored of this life. Her Art was bringing her an understanding of the world that could not be satiated by such a petty life. So she left one night, moving West, towards the mysteries left in this world.

Hello,

It looks like I'll be getting involved with a different PbP project very soon, and don't want to stretch myself so thin I do neither justice, so I shall bow out of consideration for your game. Thank you for your time and consideration, and good luck to all with the game.

P.S. I can vouch for both Erics (Dreaming Warforged and Rasina) as excellent and committed players.

Hey, hands off Rasina! That Eric's all mine, you can't have him! :P

That should be fine. I expect that I won't announce the player lineup until Friday or Saturday anyway.

Ganny wrote:

Hard to say, I like them both actually. I suppose if pressed I might like the halfling just a bit more for this game, but I'm happy to consider both.

With that said, I'd have no trouble if any other applicants wanted to submit a second concept as well (I'd like to limit you all to two, though).

Regrettable, but understandable. Thank you for letting me know!

Sovereign Court

I haven't heard of the rising of Tsar before, but from what I have heard from this thread I am very interested.

About myself:
I have been playing rpgs for about 24 years, and I’m always up for trying a new system or Idea. I am a very social player, who loves to think outside the box and use abilities or powers in new ways. As a player/DM I strive for good story and interactions between the group and the world. I am one of those players that get very connected to his character on a personal level, as well when I am a DM I get connected to my group a little too much. I’m new to pbp and playing my first one with Tarlane and Poor Wandering one. The two of them are great roleplayers and I’m having a blast even though we haven't even got into the tomb of horrors. I vouch for the two of them as well!

Character Idea:
My character Idea goes by the name of Pavok Norwyn, a human Inquisitor of Muir, he is known as one of her forsaken guards. He is one of the goddess most devoted followers because he has taken a path where only his deeds will be honored by her. He her shadow, the one who tests the strength of devotion of her paladins has for her. He poses as an enemy to the paladins of Muir. He challenges there very honor and awaits Muir's judgment before he punishes or rewards them. But this life is a hard one and Pavok tires of always being the bad guy, as well as receiving no other praise. Pavok feels he is slipping into the very darkness he poses as. He decided to go to the land known as Desolation to see if he can bring a little light to this dark place without letting on to anyone from the church of Muir on that he is a good guy.

Please take a look at Damar and let me know what you think. This profile isn't fully complete but it should give you a good idea of what I have in mind. I'm using him in a RL campaign and he's a blast to play.

As far as my history...I've been role playing for about 10 years now and I've played a little of everything from star wars d6, to arduin, to d&d(2.0, 3.5, and 4.0), to shadow run, to pathfinder. I've also played in MANY home brew campaigns since one of my friends is a creative genius and insists on using me as a guinea pig.

If you have any questions about my gaming history or Damar let me know. I have him plotted out all the way to 20 level so if your wondering where he's headed just ask.

Let's see...the rundown of interested players thus far:

Grusk - Grippli Witch 5/Rogue 2
Syndir - Human Monk 4/Sorcerer 3/Dragon Disciple 1
havoc xiii - Aleister, Magus (Bladebound)
Tarlane - Paladin
Poor Wandering One - Agamemnon, Human Fighter 7 (Free Hand)
AJs Dad - Paladin of Muir OR Rogue
Ganny - Dwarven Paladin 2/Monk 5 (Zen Archer) OR Halfling Rogue (Sniper)

Dreaming Warforged - Abigail Garrett, Human(?) Wizard/Cleric of Hecate
Roidrage, Pavok Norwyn, Human Inquisitor of Muir
Damar - Dhampir Rogue/Assassin

Please let me know if you see any errors above.

I see no issues with what you have listed. Depending on what we need will probably vary what I will use.

Argh...sorry, posted under a different alias by accident.

Hey everyone,

I'm going to go quiet for a couple of days because I'm about to hit the road for a brief fishing trip. I'll be back late tomorrow night, so I'll catch up with you on Friday. That's probably also about the time I'll close the window of opportunity for character submissions. Feel free to take the time to continue exploring ideas, I look forward to seeing what's been proposed when I return.

I like my charcter idea but I might submit one more since you opened it up for 2 each.

Good luck with the fishing.

Thanks, let's hope the walleye are biting.

Hey, can I count on some of you guys to keep this thing bumped up toward the top of the page while I'm gone? I don't want the thread to vanish from view. Thanks!

I can help keep it bumped...if I'm in! hahaha

This is my grippli.....

witch/rogue....

Still working him up!

Question for you folks statting out your entries.

Did I miss a post where Toothless gave us the point buy guidelines?

Oh and enjoy the trip Toothless.

Liberty's Edge

I haven't seen it either, I suspect most of them are building with fairly standard point buy and will adjust depending on what is decided.

Also, since we all seem to be vouching for each other, I can say I'm in a game with poor wandering one right now and enjoyed his RP enough that I invited him into the one I am running.

Hey, hands off Rasina! That Eric's all mine, you can't have him! :P

Why thank you Tarlane. I am really hoping we both make the cut for this one. We can see how Agie stacks up against Faran.

OK. I have changed my concept from a Paladin or Rogue to a specialist Wizard (Necromancer) who has taken the Deathmaster prestige class. Hopefuly this will be allowed.

Shen Volker

Spoiler:
Shen Volker was born into a loving and close knit family that owned a small farm, close to the village of Fairhill. Shen and her twin, Cressa, had an idyllic childhood – playing in the meadows, swimming in the nearby Lake Crimmormere and enjoying hiding games in the woods. Her mother and father were both retired adventures – her father, Gastus, had once been known as the ‘Laughing Blade’, in his time quite a well known sell sword and survivor of the Dungeon of Graves. Her mother had been a spell worker of some power until her fateful confrontation with the black dragon, Calthraxus, in his lair in the Lyre valley, close to Bards Gate. The dragons breath destroyed her left hand, leaving her unable to throw spells.

Her parents had used the gold they had saved throughout their careers to purchase the farm and land and had made quite a success of things. Shen used to accompany her parents on the monthly journey into Fairhill to sell at the market there, and was always intrigued by the many different peoples that she saw there. She was 13 years of age and her idyllic existence was soon to come to an end. Her home was unlucky enough to be the target for an opportunistic attack by an evil wizard and his followers, whilst she was away in town with her parents. Upon there return they were ambushed.

Her parents were killed in the attack, defending their home and children bravely. Cressa was captured but Shen managed to hide until the attackers left. Shen had no idea who the attackers had been apart from a name she had heard the wizard being called by his followers - Vortigem. She also had an amulet that had probably been dropped by one of the raiders, that showed the horned head of a goat.

Shen grew up quickly that day, falling in with a travelling band of adventurers who happened on the farm a few hours later. Shen, having a small talent in the arcane arts probably due to her mother, apprenticed herself to the groups wizard, a man called Corian. Corian taught her all he knew, but Shen wanted more. Through her travels with the group, now known as the Company of the Shattered Shield, she learnt more of the wizard that had killed her family as well as the dark god he followed – Orcus. It was during this formative period that Shen started dabbling with the darker side of magic, as she learnt more of the ways of her nemesis. Shen decided, rightly or wrongly, that she would need to understand her enemy fully if she were to defeat him. Her companions urged her to be careful, to be aware of what she was dabbling with. Her appetite for knowledge ended up driving a wedge between herself and her master, Corian, although the dwarven warrior, Drebb stood by you, defending what you were attempting to do.

And so it was that Shen fell to the ways of a path that she had read about in a tome that had made its way into her possession in the lair of a necromancer near Pembroke; the path of the Deathmaster. Shortly after this the Company of the Shattered Shield entered the Stoneheart Mountain Dungeon on a holy quest led by Bannor, the groups paladin and follower of Muir. It was deep below the mountain that Shen finally confronted Vortigem, within his dark lair. And standing at his side was her sister.

Cressa was now an unholy priestess to Orcus, having been turned many years ago by Tavik, an evil priest of the demon god. Shen and her companions did battle with the dark wizard, but in the end he was too powerful. Her companions were slain to the man, her dark twin seeing to the deaths of Bannor, Drebb and the her closest friend, the half orc Krel. Shen was struck down defending Corian but in her last moments she saw her sister lay her mentor low with a blow from her powerful mace. Finally, the evil Vortigem stayed the hand off Cressas killing blow against her sister, telling her that it was ‘fitting that your twin should live and have to deal with her helplessness at being unable to prevent the death of her friends, in the same way she was unable to save your parents.’

The wizard and her sister left her, alone and dying, in the deepest chambers of the dungeon, but Shen prevailed, through force of will alone. Finally finding her way to the surface she vowed to go on, to learn the darkest ways of her foe and to eventually use them against him. She also vowed she would kill her sister and avenge her companions deaths. Shen travelled on her own for many months, visiting Reme and Bard Gate, before hearing word of a possible trail that might just be a link to her sister and her dark master.

And so, now a fully fledged death master, Shen once more headed out into the world, seeking answers and leads that would take her one step closer to her destiny.

Shen has long flame red hair, usually worn in a plait that hangs down her back. Her skin is pale and freckles dot her face. Shen always makes the effort to colour her lips a bright red, which along with the high cheek bones and piercing green eyes give her a fey quality.

She has an affinity for red, black and purple and tends to usually wear close fitting red leather trousers with a tight fitting black corset. She wears a hooded purple cloak clasped with a ruby brooch. Several rings adorn her fingers and an unusual amulet hangs from a chain around her neck.

(Looks wise, picture Bridget Regan from Legend of the Seeker.)

I have tried to tie in the necromancer games background as much as I can. Obviously she will be evil (LE), and I will stat her up if accepted.
