What happened with Magus Broad Study?
Is it no longer ANY Wizard spell, but just a broader list of them than the Magus had access to before?
But they can only memorize so many of these `broader` spells... or what?
That was something people had concerns about re: the Magus...

(keen scimitar crit range + calcific touch can be scary)

That sounds absolutely frightening. I hope neither of my DMs see this.

This is what people are getting that from..

Ok I went back and read each one more carefully. Two of them one for wis and one for int, does indeed. It is buried in the text and I didn't notice it by skimming over them.

I haven't seen anyone ask about it yet; anything interesting about the Oathbound Paladin?

Oh, thou dost tempt me into evil. Might you reveal any of the replacements involved?

So what's the verdict? Do you think we'll see as many sorcs piling on that option as we do human sorcs rushing for favoured class bonus?

Probably depends on what specific Bloodlines allow that option,
and what other abilities / spells they offer besides the ability switch.
WIS can also be quite a powerful stat given Will Saves, and Monk / Cleric / Druid / Inquisitor multi-classing.

BUT WHAT ABOUT MY QUESTION? What happened to Broad Study???

Oaths are a little like Archetypes. In that different oaths replace different powers. So a paladin can have more than one oath. There is 9 oaths.

The Wis one I think might be a bit weaker. The Int one is pretty good, is it the best? Not sure but it isn't bad.

I'm very interested in the new Qinggong monk abilities. Are there some neat ones? :D

Broad Study is still there for the Magus.

Somehow, I don't think there are any monks that were made in Numeria.

How did the Magus change from the playtest version?

We've obviously seen a couple of the abilities from the blog post earlier, but what else sticks out at you as being particularly cool / not cool?

That is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to get my book.

It really didn't. There are some minor language changes but outside of the previewed changes it's basically the same.

Language was clarified but it's basically the same. You would be minimum 13th level before you could pull it off. I dont remember much about the concern that was raised during the playtest but I'm not sure it is such a huge deal. They would be able to cast the spell twice a day? Powerful, but not game breaking.

I finally got it!

Reading over the Magus archetypes it appears that you can actually stack all four of them on the same character. None of them replace the same abilities at all. I don't think anyone would want to do that because you wouldn't get the best use of all your abilities. For example, you can't use a black blade, a force athame, or a quarterstaff all at once and your black blade would have to be a dagger or sickle. Though, you could do a convincing Bladebound/Hexcrafter/Spellblade. Another problem is you have to be careful combining the Bladebound with any of the others since his arcane pool is way less than a magus of the same level.

Abilities replaced are:

Bladebound - 3rd level magus arcana (and can never take a familiar) and you get less arcane pool points.

Hexcrafter - spell recall and any magus arcana you want, if you want.

Spellblade - spellstrike.

Staff Magus - martial weapon prof., medium & heavy armor prof., and fighter training.

I really like the Quigon monk. Though it looks like the lvl 8 abilities get skipped due to when the Monk gets the powers that are being swapped out.

i cannot figure out if i am reading it wrong.

However i want to make a monk with scorching ray now

You are correct. Page 51 explains it in the paragraph that begins on the bottom left column.

The wizard archetype kind of reminds me of the "Read or Die" anime.

The sin eater archetype for the inquisitor makes me think of a video gamey Jonah Hex.

The sound strike archetype for the bard reminds me of the Dune movie from the 80s with its "weirding way" and the way that movie represented those powers (which were not the same thing as what was in the book, BTW).

Oh yeah there is a wizard archetype, scroll master or something...
Any spoilers on that?

It's confusing...

You use scrolls as weapons (insert paper cut jokes here) and as a shield. To be honest I don't quite see the use case. Maybe some kind of Eldritch Knight build?

*shrug*

Oooookkkkk, i guess what it's left of me to say is:

"That just means that i can beat him with both scrolls at the same time"

It's mainly the spell list that got expanded.

There's a 3rd-level Magus-only spell that gives him a one-time >=40 -ft.-reach 'pounce' in combination with Spell Combat... nice.

Since my hubby ordered the book from Amazon, it's gonna be a while before I can enjoy all the goodness you folks are talking about,

So...a quick (I hope) question re the new Channeling options; I have the Rite Publshing Secrets of Divine Channeling pdf. Do these new options resemble the ones in that?

Any new equipment? Magical or Mundane?

Also read some plae there are two new craft feats...what are they?

The Blade of a Bladebound Magus is limited to One Handed Slashing Weapons, Rapiers, or a Sword Cane, does anyone know why they limit it to that? Is it fluff? is it balance? Anyone have any ideas / thoughts?

John Kretzer wrote:

Create Reliquary Arms and Shields - lets you create items that can also serve as a holy symbol / divine focus.

Create Sanguine Elixir - lets you transfer uses of your bloodline power into potions, which can then be used by anyone.

About the Bladebound archetype:

1) How reduced is his Arcane Pool ability?

2) What does the Black Blade gain and/or grant as the Bladebound magus levels up?

F. Castor wrote:

1)1/3 levels +int.

2)Becomes more slashy(up to +5)gets more int(which is important,because blade uses it's own arcane pool(1+blade's int mod).Grants mostly alertness and,at high levels,SR.

1) 1/3 + Int Bonus. Not sure if I'm allowed to give an exact number, if so please edit / delete this.

2) The Blade is like an intelligent item / familiar. It does have its own Arcane Pool that it can use for various effects, like changing its element or increasing its damage.

Does the book have racial altarnate favored class bonus for the magus?

No, a example is

Air - gives a bonus to acrobatics and flying skills for a bit, as well as healing.

Thanks. Nice to know I didn't buy something Paizo was about to do anyway.

Not that anything in Divine Channeling is a waste. ;)
