Depends on which Link you're talking about. Most of the time I'd say go straight fighter. Your feats are good choices, but don't forget that Link had a good amount of ranged ability. Point blank & precise shot are both necessary. I'd probably also venture into the Vital Strike series, since Link is a very mobile fighter. Cleave is a good representation of his sweeping attacks. Some of the shield feats would be warranted, too.
If you're talking Ocarina of Time you could easily justify a few levels in bard, because link was actually creating magic with his music. Epona shows up quite a few times throughout the series, so classes with mounts (cavalier, ranger) would be good for that aspect. Thinking more on that, ranger would be a very good base for Link.
Honestly I never found link very rogue-y. I'd probably swap levels in ranger & fighter, with an even split of ranger 10/ fighter 10.

depends young or old link? id say old had some good strength (how would you charge a sword in dnd? power attack? vital strike?)
Just have enough dex to get whirlwind attack, not like link was known for his backflips and strafing.
I'd also suggest having him wear armor but fluff it to be his awesome shield

Power Attack is probably a good choice for that. It depends on how much you want to imitate the game versus just get a similar effect. To bad bards don't get magic weapon. I would like to see a ranger/bard/fighter Ocarina Link.

Definitely fighter for the weapon training with dip in alchemist for bombs. Go sword and board (obviously), probably put evil-bane or axiomatic on the sword. Don't forget enchanted arrows if you're going N64 Link. Belt of giant strength is a must, modify it to be an arm slot (bracelet) of course. You probably want light or medium armor- Link jumps and moves a lot. Put some ranks in acrobatics, as well as swim, handle animal(horse), perform: ocarina, ride, survival, profession: fishing, and profession: gardener. Do NOT put any ranks in linguistics (hyah!).
And don't forget to say, "Well excuuuuse me, Princess!" at every possible opportunity.

Ranger, all the way. S&B with a few archery feats, no weapon focus but rather more general feats that affect a lot of weapons (Link, at least in OoT, uses a longsword, a greatsword, a Large warhammer, a bow, and the hookshot - and these are just counting the adult weapons).
Decent strength, high dex, low Int (yes, link's pretty stupid... I mean, he has to take advice from an OWL), ranks in acrobatics, climb, ride...
I'd peg him, if created as a character rather than a build, at about 3rd level when he becomes grown-up, 4th level after water temple, and 6th level right at the end fight.
Some abilities has to be custom-made for a perfect fit though, like his spellcasting. Sanctuary represents one of the spells, but the others are harder. I remember a spell that more or less created a fireball centered at yourself in 3.5, don't remember the name though, that could represent Din's Fire. Farore's wind wouldn't really be appropriate outside of the video game, it's a little too powerful ability that isn't really needed for the link character. He only dabbles in magic, after all.

I would say ranger (skirmisher variant, no spell casting) with the sword and board or archery combat style. Make him an elf or half-elf (in Legend of Zelda, Link was a Hylian, which was distinct from a human which also existed). Maybe multiclass into fighter for some feats. Your Animal Companion would be Epona. Get leadership and get some sort of fey as your cohort if you really want to go all out.

Link didn't always have spells.

However, especially the enchanted arrows he uses in Ocarina of Time are stylish... maybe one level of Bard to qualify for Arcane Archer in which he takes at least 3 levels for the elemental arrows. (It´s somewhat crippling his melee capabilities but hey, we don´t minmax right now)
Basically I´d say that Link is an Arcane Ranger with a switch hitting strategy
(Link would make a funny base class ^^)

I think paladin wouldn't be a bad fit at all, though not the stereotype fullplate variety, I dont see the ranger stuff much even though he dresses like one.
What else is the mastersword but a Holy Avenger ?
Link is a LG sucker all the way, smiting evil where he goes
Probably has some ranks in UMD and perform
I am not sure we really need any other class here.. we just need a load of magical items, speaking of which he needs a high charisma and diplomacy to sucker people into giving him all those handouts.

Oh, sorry. I'm too stuck in the OoT, probably because in my country (Sweden) that game is the most iconic zelda game, even more than A Link to the Past, which seems to be thought of as THE zelda game in a lot of other gaming circles.

Good call! Ranger was mostly because he's quite skillful, but I guess if he went with Human paladin would fit nicely too. I don't see him as very bright exactly, but a human paladin could gain 4 skill ranks per level.
Paladin spells also seem to fit more nicely that ranger spells, and his magic attacks could easily be thought of as "smiting". He does lack healing ability, though. I don't know if he's very charismatic, but people seem to trust him incredibly easy so I guess he has to be.

Umm, not the Link in the games I have played. He often steals treasure from people's houses, walks around destroying clay pots the villagers have painstakingly made, and destroying the environment by hacking down plants and throwing bombs everywhere. Who knows what role the skulltulas play in the ecosystem? He has committed genocide against those poor spiders, just for a small personal gain. Have you ever actually seen him feed or take care of Epona in any way? He presents an opportunistic attitude, using people and creatures to finish his quest with no thought to rewarding them. In Spirit Tracks he shoots dolphins for health! Fun loving dolphins hurting no one, just swimming along side his boat and jumping for joy.
I definitely think he is chaotic neutral...

Stop demonizing Link you bastard ;)
Unless you care to count the actions per pot he breaks his good and lawful deeds far outweigh the bad and it is all for the greater good !
Link is practically an idiotic toddler with a knack for solving puzzles and some modest musical ability, he sure doesnt seem very bright, but he got spirit !
Well I think we will have to take liberties with the healing ability, captured fairies and potions, I actually think he could heal with magic at some point too.. still paladin seems the best fit, maybe add a few ranger and/or fighter levels

If you think about it, things would have been a lot better in Ocarina of Time if Link had just done nothing, since he was the one who opened the door to the Sacred Realm that allowed Gannondorf to steal the Tri-Force...

Neutral Good Half-Elf Ranger
Ranged weapon fighting style
STR 16
DEX 16
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 12
CHA 8 (for a guy that doesn't say anything, ever, this is only fair)
Lv.1 Power Attack, Skill Focus (Acrobatics)
Lv.2 Rapid Shot
Lv.3 Quick Draw
Lv.4 Animal Companion (Epona!)
Lv.5 Cleave
Lv.6 Deadly Aim
Lv.7 Great Cleave (Use this to simulate the spin attack rather than whirlwind attack)
Lv.8 Whatever
Lv.9 Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Boomerang) (Might want to get this sooner!)
Remember to put a lot of skill ranks in Acrobatics, Climb, Swim and Perform (Ocarina!) If possible, try and convince your GM to give you a weaker version of the alchemist's bomb ability. You could for example give up your favored enemy and favorite terrain or your spells.
Just a quick idea on the 10 levels with some optimization while sticking to the concept.

Lots of people put up some interesting ideas about how to choose feats for Link so I'm thinking about what magic items he needs. I really like the Pegasus boots so to make an item like that I would make boots that allow you to gain extra movement while making a charge attack and being able to deal more damage from a charge attack. I'm sure lots of people can come up with good ideas for the master sword so all I'll say is it needs to be holy. For his shield I think it should have some sort of energy resistance (fire) and reflecting. His bow should also be holy (for the light arrows) and have flame and/or frost too (for the fire and ice arrows). I'll think of how to translate some of his other items later.

I was wondering about how i could make a link wannabe character in pathfinder.
i was thinking dodge mobility spring attack combat expertise whirlwind
Spirit Ranger and Skirmisher with the Weapon and Shield combat style from the APG.
I agree with your feats. Definitely Whirlwind!
you also need a Big bag of holding because you need to carry a raft and a ladder.
Don't bother putting points in climb.
Tumble need to be maxed out.
Perhaps appraise so you can tell how much rubies are worth.

Fighter with items that let him cast spells. It is the only way to get all his abilities. Albeit at around level 20 But still.
I actually have him built as a Half-Elf Fighter/Bard. Perform(wind instrument) since the Ocarina is technically a real life type of flute.
I made the OoT a Minor Relic. His spells came from special crystals he collected that melded into his body and granting him special effects.
Though a Magus wouldn't be to off for some.
And OoT is one of the most iconic to me. Though most modern gamers lean towards Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword...

I came here hoping someone had written up Legend of Zelda as a Pathfinder adventure. I know the internet did not intend to deceive me, but I am now sadly disappointed.
Anyone want to write up stats for an octorok?
There is a Legend of Zelda d20 out there somewhere, all i remember form it was hating the illustration work and that it had a lot of authentic races from the games as player races.
That came out wrong, i only hated the illustrations, not that it had so many races.

I'm with Remco on this one. Link is the Hero of Courage (Paladins are fearless) The Master Sword (The Blade of Evil's Bane) = Holy Avenger. Epona could be the Companion Bond.

Yeah, I'm into him as a paladin as well. Remember the original adventure? He had a cross on his shield. Charasmatic? Yes, just about every girl had a crush on him and he was always popular with the fairies. Also, a stunning diplomat. His signature speech was just staring at people with his beautiful blue eyes until they gave in.
He might have dipped into bard for OoT, but he did cast spells in Zelda 2 Adventures of Link (which many people don't like, but I don't mind).

There are multiple Links. So how you stat him is going to depend on which one you're talking about. The one from the first two games? The one from A Link to the Past, the Oracles games and Link's Awakening? The one from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? If so young or old? There are still more Links than those three as well...
However, I think that any Link will have some Mythic Tiers at least.

You might be talking about this d20 Zelda source. There's this one too.
He was a hylian (human bonus feat with elf abilities) fighter/ranger/bard/rogue. The Master Sword was a +5 evil outsider bane holy longsword.
With the Races guide, you could easily rebuild his race for Pathfinder.

Pegasus Boots - Gives Link the powerful charge ability and increases his speed by 10 feet while charging or running.
Magic Cape - Ring of Invisibility reslotted. (Honestly, invis on a cloak should be the norm, not a ring).
Hookshot - Can be used to pull Link to any surface within 60 feet, or to pull objects or enemies to him from 60 feet away. To pull enemies, Link must make a combat maneuver check against the creature with a +5 equipment bonus. The Longshot version has a range of 120 feet.
Fire Rod - At will, spark, 3/day scorching ray, 1/day fireball
Ice Rod - At will, ray of frost, 3/day chill touch, 1/day cone of cold
Bombos Medallion - Ring of Retribution, unslotted. Might take a bit more finagling.
Ether Medallion - ...I got nothin', sorry...
Quake Medallion - Probably a spell for this one, too, but I don't know.
Magic Hammer - +3 Dispelling Warhammer of Impact
Cane of Somaria - 3/day creates a 5x5x5 cube of force.
Cane of Byrna - Magic Circle Against Evil...?
Link wears chainmail, or at the very least a chain shirt. Sword and board fighter with moderate Str/Dex.

I had a friend who was basically trying to play Link in one of my campaign. When he got around level 12 I finally allowed him to earn his Master Sword. I made it a +3 evil Bane Bastard Sword and I also gave it the ability to act as a "reach" weapon when he had full life to duplicate the master sword from the game.

I actually thought about this recently, as I was contemplating running a zelda-themed campaign. I came to the conclusion that Link would be a Half-Elf Fighter 9/Magus (Myrmidarch) 4.
Fighter 9 gives him weapon training in 2 areas: Heavy Blades and Bows. It also gives him Armor Training 2, and as Link is usually designed (in more modern games, anyway) wearing either a chain shirt or chainmail, I felt that this fit well enough. Feats could include the Whirlwind chain, mounted combat, shield focus, throw anything, point-blank shot, and other appropriate feats.
Magus (Myrmidarch) gives him a couple iconic abilities. Spending arcane points to increase his weapon's enhancement is quite akin to "charging" his sword, as is spellstrike. In addition, Ranged Spellstrike allows him to use fire/ice/light arrows (you will recall that, in the game, the fire/ice/light arrows were an ABILITY, not a special item, as they drained your mana bar).
When it comes to Link's musical magic, I don't think something like bard would cut it. This guy speeds up the passage of TIME. He teleports all over the place with his ocarina. In wind waker, he controls the weather and conjures tornadoes. These are not the powers of a bard. It's obvious that whatever instrument he might be using (as he has not always had one in the games), it's an artifact.
In terms of bombs, I think alchemist's fire works a bit better than dipping alchemist for bombs. Not only do alchemist's bombs not really fit the flavor, but Link stocks up on bombs by either finding them or purchasing them. He doesn't craft his own equipment.
And that's about it. I also think that PF is a great system for Link, as it so heavily focuses on magic items, and most of Link's iconic powers come from his magical equipment.
...Catch Phrase,
-Chris

I honestly don't imagine Link having any class that actually grants magic spells or magic abilities. I think in all the games Link's "magic" can be explained by his multitude of artifacts or sword skills. Granted many LoZ games feature Link utilizing a mana bar but I don't think that would actually represent a pen and paper version of the character. In LoZ2, Link learns learns to drop lightning bolts but in a Link to the Past he earns the ether medallion which functions the same. You could basically say the same thing about Din's Fire and the bombos medallion.
I would actually make Link almost a pure fighter with a splash of Rogue only because of the evasion abilities and sheer amount of skills. I guess that I could argue that Link has an innate ability to find weak points on his enemies that could function like a "sneak attack". As a fighter I would focus on heavy blades, and bows/arrow.
I can understand some peoples belief that he should have a splash of ranger. His connection with Epona would be a perfect animal companion and his feat tree I would focus on either Sword and Shield TWF or archer.
Overall I would probably say most of Link's abilities come from his massive amounts of major magical items and artifacts.
