I'm still mentally dealing with what work is going to look like with two people leaving, and a third looking at the door. Said third is going on vacation tomorrow. I dont know if she will be coming back.
A couple years ago I had every IT technician in the healthcare division either get promoted or quit for other jobs all in the same week.
I almost quit without any backup plan at all due to the stress. I had a few weeks where I was handling all the issues and dealing with the projects, but I lined up an interview with a guy who was already an employee of the company. He had been working part time for us (not in IT) and going to school remotely (for IT) while raising a baby. He had no job experience in IT at all, but after his interview I thought we could take a flyer on him. He turned into my best technician. Also another two weeks after that one of the people who left for another job found out that the greener pasture actually was greener because there was more manure to step around than what we deal with.
Eventually the team was rebuilt, and I think it's actually better than it was before.
You have a different situation since it's your direct higher up that's the cause of the issues in the first place. You probably are not in a "fixable" situation.
In fact...the only way it might get fixed is if you leave and make it widely known as to why. That might be the tipping point to get changes made. I know the very idea of that goes against your nature, but I'm looking at it as forest fires and pinecones.

Indeed, this is wise nudity.
I have encouraged one of the people who is leaving to speak to my boss boss about why- in fact yesterday I told all of my staff to please speak to my boss boss if they have any concerns in this time- I would not take it negatively if they went over my head in any way. I dont know if they will, but I have encouraged them to do so. The night that things were going insane and I reached out to my boss boss she was surprised that I was upset to the point that she wanted to meet with me and my boss immediately- I am sure she would listen to my staff just as readily.
A good friend of mine said a mass walkout would send a powerful message, and I think that is true. I just hope my staff informs people during exit interviews as to why they are leaving.

OK, on the one hand, I understand that I'm a senior technical lead. I know things, Lilly.
On the other hand, working with PM and docs to try to get them to fix the documentation for one of our product features has shown me that neither the docs team nor the PM have any idea how the feature works. And said feature has been around for NEARLY TWO YEARS NOW.
This morning's conversation (which spurred this tirade):
Docs: You're obviously wrong, NobodysHome! I changed a bunch of settings on this configuration page and nothing happened!
NH: As written in your own documentation, you need to set which pages the configuration will apply to first. Here's the link to the doc that shows you how to do it. And be sure to deselect the Default checkbox because otherwise you can't edit the list of pages.
Docs: You're wrong! I can't edit the list of pages!

Variations of this are my general every day existence. Actual issues (what I consider to be actual issues, to be fair) maybe take up 5-10% of my team's time.

We'll take that and double it!
Albany's supposed to hit 93°F today. Considering how hot it is already, I don't think 96°F is out of the question...
I would gladly trade if I could.

Exit interviews are fine, but they sometimes get buried. Or they don't happen at all.

Deal!
The difference between working outside and inside.
Working inside, I can always turn on the heat, no matter how cold it gets. Working outside, you have to bundle up in a stupid amount of clothing, making movement and bathroom breaks all the more annoying.
On the other hand, I've got no AC, so once it breaks 90°F outside it just gets unpleasantly distracting trying to work. Working outside you've got air flow and you can dump water over yourself and it's really not so bad. (I still remember my "bicycle rule" in Davis: "If it's over 106°F, don't drive the car. Take the bicycle because it's much more comfortable!" The combination of the air flow and the evaporation from perspiration made it quite tolerable.)

I've never known anyone who had an exit interview. I don't know that they happen in tech.

Which means he had no bad habits nor had he know better than to seek that line of work...

I had a moment of panic today, when I thought that I might had lost sense of taste (which is one of moderately common COVID infection symptoms). Thankfully, two pieces of chocolate later I confirmed that I was wrong.
It seems that the issue is that because of all that constant washing hands my skin became even blander in taste than usual losing its vestigial saltines.

Never had one either.

So I'm going to take the plunge and start up that pbp idea I had a few pages ago, some time this weekend probably. For those who missed it: It'll be based on the CastleVania video games (and the animated show on Netflix, which likewise was based on the games), though familiarity with them isnt necessarily required to play along.
Any FAWTLfolk interested? Want to give you guys and people in Cal's thread first crack at participation before I open it to the general public.

I usually just reply with a screenshot of the screenshot and then that one item circled and a big arrow in red.

Sympathies. I can hold a reservation for you, and you can jump in whenever you're feeling more up to it, if you like =)

What system will you be using? Pathfinder/2e?

I love pronouns.
I'm trying to do my weekly status report.
"A student tried to do one of the, 'Please do not do this' practices. I had them flagged for removal for the next release."
And I realized I'd just flagged the student for removal...
Antecedent basis is a b$#*&.
But I would argue that absent relatively recent pronoun trends, this was at worst ambiguous and not a definitive flagging of the student for removal.
at least as far as I know, them is still permitted to refer to things.

Aaaand... after all that Global Megacorporation just announced that any time taken off on Election Day to vote is paid time, and will not count against your vacation nor sick leave.
D'oh!
Could have taken some paid time off to hang around in the blistering sun with a bunch of complete possibly disease-ridden strangers!
Oh, wait...

Not inaccurate heh. But yeah, it'll be PF1, possibly with some 3.5 content allowed (I know definitely I like to use Magic Item Compendium and Spell Compendium at a minimum, probably Tome of Magic and Book of Nine Swords as well).

Good job! That's worth 5 course credits - 15 if you finish the job using a stuffed minotaur head.
