How does one get involved in play by post? Would y'all recommend?
First, you get a post. Most people will tell you that a 4"x4" is plenty big enough, but I find that a 6"x6" is much better. Then you carve your stats into it with a chisel, make sure it's plenty sharp so your writing is legible. I think you can figure it out from there.

First, join a recruitment thread. Roll up a character using the stated guidelines. If your character is accepted, post as that character in the Gameplay thread. It just so happens that I have a slot available. Here's the Campaign Info, if you're interested.

Crapmonkeys! NH, are you online?
I'm trying to level up Norathar on WW's computer and it's telling me that I've overspent my skill points. But they were the level 14 skill points I spent at your house... I haven't added level 15 points yet! What time do I need to arrive with the kids in order to do a quick-and-dirty level up for Nora at your place?

When you're finished, stat out your character in a consistent manner. You can use my PC, Jared Haesford, as an example on how to do this.
Edit: By the way, please post your character development in the discussion thread. I'll help you get your character ready.
Thankyou for all of you're advice :) but I don't think I'm going to do that. I don't particularly want to play a commoner.

America is weird. Why not measure it in like a classic measure of liquid?
I'm so confused now.
I'm going to have to google ounces to pounds and pounds to kilograms to work out how many liters of beer 32 ounces is just so that I can be nosy.
Jeez minding my own business never seemed like less work.
Liquid ounces.
A standard beer bottle in the US is 12 Fluid Ounces, or 3/4 of a pint.32 ounces would be two pints.

(1) Yes, I'm up
(2) I suspect I gave you the "Fast Learner" feat so you get both a skill point and a hit point per level, and your Hero Labs doesn't have it (Advanced Race Guide, I believe)(3) I'd just ignore the limit and go your level over (so 15 over). That would match the feat. Then e-mail/post it and we can go over it once you're here.
This morning is going to be chaos for me (prepping beyond the Star Tower, Impus Major homework, and a Costco run), but if you show up around 12-1 I can have Impus Minor help with the kids and you can double-check your stuff.

However, I do have an idea for a Starfinder campaign if you're interested in that.

Play-by-post is somewhat like tabletop gaming. It just takes longer. Here's a thread that has much useful advice. Not that I'm pushing you. As a GM, I feel the need to present information to players as needed.

I recommend giving play by post a try. The pace is way too slow for me, but a lot of people do get a kick out of it.
On greek stuff, the best telling of The Odyssey is the Coen Brothers' Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
"Uuaghmf, my hair!"

Loved it.

I tried to get it done but WW's laptop was not the pinnacle of efficiency (and this is the machine he's trying to "fix up" for me) and I couldn't manage it before we had to be at the ballet school. But I'm fairly certain where I *want* to spend my points and feats, so it should be pretty quick even for me.

Both of those milkshakes have all of the above problems at the same time. It's so overbearingly heavy and painfully sweet and disturbingly stale and blech.

And leap up in the air, displaying taut, toned thighs in little leather skirts, and miraculously not getting stabbed somewhere very inconvenient.
On another note, when are they going to make 'Nicki Minaj: Warrior Princess', eh?
Polearms are better in most circumstances, it's true.
However, earlier this year, I was fighting a Polish woman with a longsword (I had sword & buckler) and she kept doing this move where she leapt up, twirled the sword around her head and cut at me. I found it reasonably easy to deflect the cut with my buckler and then whack her when she was descending, stepping in as I did so. I won the fight, anyway.
Generally, jumping up in the air is a bit silly, IMO, as you expose so much of your person to your opponent.

Who the hell's brilliant idea was to restrict scale bars in ArcGIS Pro maps to either miles or kilometers? I'm producing a small survey map, for which meters would be the perfect scale because I'm looking at an area 250 meters at its widest. I have to use kilometers, a scale that is really not appropriate to the map. If this were the older ArcMAP 10.4, I could set the scale bar to use whatever measurement I want. But in this shiny new software, I can't change unit of measurement at all, and each scale bar template only comes in a kilometer version and a miles version.

On my course we only had one module for Greek and it was Greek mythology and theatre so for semester one we did Greek mythology and then other mythology like the Norse mythology, the mabanigyion (no way I spelt that right), Arthurian, Hebrew and Grimm tales. Then in Semester two we started with Greek theatre and ended with Arturo ui

I'd have done more on that but then I think I'd have done more on almost every module :/ except the diss prep modules, but they were something one could actually finish. Mythology wasn't really.
That module I described above was initially obligatory but the recently fused the lit and Lang course cause Lang was under subscribed. As a result it's now an elective so lit students may not do that module which feels tragic to me.

Yesterday was definitely one of those, "Seriously, people?" moments. I feel I owe lisamarlene an apology, but I don't know that I could have done much.
We were all at the house by 1:30 pm.
We didn't start gaming until 4:30 pm.
Why? Because 3 of the 6 players hadn't leveled up, nor even thought about what they were going to do for their level-ups, for the last 2 weeks.
So yes, life has been extremely busy and hectic for the lot of us. New jobs, emergency surgeries, illnesses, and the like. I'm totally OK when life gets in the way of gaming. Such is the nature of things. On the other hand, not even pondering, "Hmmm, I wonder what feats/spells/skills I should take at my next level-up" until you're there on game day is a bit disrespectful to the other players who are sitting there waiting to do something.
It's hard to vent too much, because the last couple of weeks have been crazy, but considering it was a 8 1/2-hour session that only involved about 2 1/2 - 3 hours of actual gaming, I figure lisamarlene has earned a ventfest.
EDIT: And I'll openly admit: The "oops, we released a graveknight in Magnimar and it committed a bunch of murders before leaving. We'd better go catch it and clean up after ourselves" was supposed to be an interesting, SHORT sidequest, but it ended up taking over 90 minutes of indecision before they finally decided that they were just going to go to his destination and wait for him. Sometimes, you try to throw in something "short and interesting" and it ends up being "long and disappointing". C'est la vie.

Well, there were two big problems with the session:
(1) The aforementioned 3-hour delay just to get started(2) It was one of those sessions where everyone else waits for someone to make a decision, so there was a huge amount of sitting around doing nothing while waiting for someone to decide to do something
I think my favorite moment was when Nora (lisamarlene's PC) jumped into the unknown-pit-o-doom just to do something, and even after they determined that she had survived and it was a viable way to get to the next level, they spent around 45 minutes trying to NOT do that.
I appreciated the very cautious, sensible roleplay. "Just because she made it down doesn't mean it's safe. Let's be careful."
But after hours and hours of previous delays there was a huge part of me that just wanted to say, "OK, you're down! Now get moving!"
But enough of them were enjoying the "puzzle" that I kept my mouth shut.

Tacticslion |

No, you're cool, my dude! I meant that it changes the tone of my post - you need feel no shame in editing!
I understand how those kinds of sessions go.
Intimately!
In our one-on-one game, last night, I (rather innocently) asked her about a potential course of action to my wife. She (already exhausted from a really long week of late nights and early days) fell asleep debating what to do about it. Twice. I finally just suggested she not, this morning, and went ahead and described the scene as if she didn't.
The problem was, I'd thought my question was an easy, "yes" because it seemed like she'd been doing that thing the whole time; she took a very different view, though, and thought that I was suggesting she do something really out of character, and had been puzzling over doing totally in-character action (it was surprising to me, though now I understand her reasoning) which made the idea not even remotely sensible to her, or following the GM's "suggestion" (which, in my view, was, "the same thing you've done every time; I'm checking as a formality/to remind you just in case you've forgotten since our last interruption"-thing). I'd have been surprised but perfectly fine if she'd said, "No." - in fact, that's easier on me. But because she thought I really wanted to do thing "A"...
And, you know, I've done effectively the same. Though my problem tends to be over-bearing tenacity - if I've established a thing as, "I can do this!" for whatever reason, it seems really hard to allow myself to be unable to do that thing, even if it's revealed that it's beyond my ability, in-character. (Ex: "I can totally take on this lich: Mano-E-Mano; solo; all by my lonesome! Yeah, I'm level seven; so what?!")
Players can get really strange things in their heads, trying to inhabit the head-space of themselves and their characters and trying to be character authors, while they interact with a rules system - it can be a mess.
I'm sorry it was disappointing!
* Our game sessions are often interrupted by our kids, after they've gone to bed, or texts from work or family, or bathroom breaks, or unconsciousness - look, we play when we can...!

Well, with Whingey Wizzard actually having a QUASI-LEGITIMATE EXCUSE for not having leveled up for the first time ever, I more or less expected that part of the delay.
But the sheer number of times I wanted to scream, "WHO CARES! WHO CARES WHAT THE RANDOM SPELL YOU'RE CONSIDERING ACTUALLY DOES! YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO USE MAGIC MISSILE, GLITTERDUST, OR SOME KIND OF FLIGHT SPELL ANYWAY! JUST PICK ONE AND LET'S GET STARTED!"But the food was good enough to keep my temper in check.
The main reason Nora jumped into the pit was because she was feeling a bit ineffectual. It was obvious we had to go down there, and if the AP calls for us being down there, then there was a pretty decent chance I was going to survive it. And if not, well... I was bored. But it was a total rookie move to realize on the way down, "Oh, wait, I had a rope in my pack."
Nora needs a ranged weapon that actually does, oh, *damage*.
The worst part of the fight with Slimer's Embarrassing Uncle was knowing that (a) I wasn't going to do more than irritate him like a tiny mosquito unless I closed for a melee attack, and (b) that was very likely going to kill me. And Nora suddenly realized that she had unfinished business and on reflection wasn't quite ready to die yet after all.
