Musical Interlude - covering the 80s edition
Edit: D'oh!

The 80's was all about nudity!
Seriously -- in the 80's if an R-rated film didn't have at least one scene of full frontal nudity, you were being ripped off.
Ah, the good old days!
Waxes poetic, leans back in his rocking chair on the porch, and dreams of full frontal nudity. Seriously creeping out his neighbors...

We already have that one, or did, saw it when she was four or five.
It's a great suggestion though. :-)

... though Grave of the Fireflies might not be the best to share, unless you like hating everything and depression. Also watching kids die of starvation.

Helpful!
Or lower them.
Also, I'd like to thank CY for this response, which helped me avoid another joke that came to my mind when I read the statement above...
Bad Drejk! Bad!

Eight days and the Christmas tree still stands. I'm starting to think that the cats actually approve of this one.
And we have discovered our new favorite holiday dessert. Hot chocolate floats. Take a normal mug of hot chocolate (preferably made with milk of some variety) and add a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream. It is sinfully delicious.

It is a shame that you are not closer, CY. I would just drive over and drop off a "few" anime titles for you to watch.
It turns out Hulu has a large library of anime, I've recognized a bunch of titles mentioned. If Pea Bear gets into it I can always find it around town I'm sure, one of the perks of living in a diverse college town like Madison. :-)

Frell? We're just making up swear words now?
I claim hassenfeffer.
I'll figure out what it means later.
In point of fact, frell is from the great TV show Farscape. It was a generic curse, sort of like how they used frak in Battlestar Galactica.
And hasenpfeffer is a German rabbit stew. Not sure about hassenfeffer.

~looks through Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime~ wow... There are lots of shows that I haven't watched. I guess if I want to watch them then I should not play as many video games. Oh well, I will think on it. ~goes back to playing Skyrim for the 6th time~
I wish I could do that. I think i've seen everything I care to see that is out.

Really! When we had the rabbit farm my parents told me it was chicken!
Those a~$#%~@s!
this is actually true, I found out when I was eleven and my brothers told me the truth as I was about to blow out the candles on my birthday cake.
And that was my worst birthday ever.
Over a hundred and fifty rabbits were butchered for hipster douche bags chasing the latest trendy protein in those dark four years, until our rabbit suppliers tried to get my dad to make them silver bullets so they could hunt him because they became convinced he was a werewolf.

Now Ghost In The Shell, Hulu has the original movie, the twenty fifth anniversary edition, and 2.0 which is evidently a director's cut?... So, which is better. :-)
...There was a director's cut... and I didn't see it?! I have failed as a Ghost in the Shell fan. Now I have to show up on my ex-boyfriends doorstep and see if he has it and will let me watch it.
PS: of the two anime I recommended Moribito ranks as one of the best anime ever made. It is a fantasy feudal Japan setting with a strong female protagonist and well developed characters.
PPS: Rideback also has a strong female protagonist and very well developed characters. The plot is extremely character driven. The setting is an alternate reality very near future where thought controlled robot motorcycles have been invented. If you can ignore the absurd premise that a mercenary group could take over the world (the only thing that holds it back in my opinion) then it is also a great anime.
PPPS: I wouldn't recommend Sword Art Online for a 12 yo girl. Nor would I recommend Glass Fleet to anyone.
Glass Fleet is a fun watch... till the end. Where the sick evil bad guy wins, rapes the strong female protagonist, kills the only man she loved, and then forces her into marriage to unite the empire.
PPPPS: As an alternate to Sword Art Online try Log Horizon instead. It is well made and has a similar story to SAO's much acclaimed first story arc.

Does anyone else think that with this picture, and the headline, "British Antarctic research station to be moved due to deep crack in the ice," you get the impression that the station is going to walk away, or is it just me having been awake for more than 24 hours?

Actually, watch Ghost in the Shell yourself first to estimate if it's right for Pea Bear. It's something that is intended to a, well, bit older viewers than 12 years old. You might decide it's fine for Pea Bear but it might seriously vary for her friends. And even if they are mature enough to watch it themselves, their parents might object, with some nudity and a lot of brutality... head-bursting explosive ammo and all.

Yeah, Aranna nailed why we cannot stomach SAO past Season 1.

second season of Sao seemed to come out of nowhere, and the villain was nonsensical, though actually evil, as are a lot of villains in the show. I would recommend skipping it,as the third season is a damn interesting mystery.
I had heard of glass fleet, but I had not seen it.

SAO was very up and down in writing quality, that was for sure. That last arc tho.
