I've recently created a monster/NPC generator for D&D 3.5, it allows adding HD for monsters and adding character levels, skills and stats are automatically calculated depending on a skill focus selected. The monsters can then be fine tuned (changing stats, adding feats, changing armour and weapons). This tool is free to use I would very much welcome any feed back Good or Bad. This is an ongoing project so any feedback to make it better/easier to use would be very useful.
You can have a play at
Dinglesgames
I hope you find the tool useful.
P.S. There is also a treasure generator on the site (also free).

This is useful! I personally do a lot of slapping class levels (often barbarian, but sometimes others) onto monsters! Thank you for a great contribution to the community!
Of course, it doesnt do everything, and its flexibility isn't as robust as we could hope, but I'm not saying that as a degrading remark. This program is actually surprisingly flexible, once you realize how it works!
A goldmine, sir, a goldmine! Thank you for spending the time to bring this to life!

Thanks for the comments Black Bard. I am currently working on adding spells lists, magic items, and monster templates to the generator. There's still quite a lot I need to do before I'm completely happy with it e.g. add Prestige classes, Psionics, and other SRD classes.
I've tried to keep it quite simple to use, but to also enable the DM to do quite a bit of tweaking to the monsters so you can create monsters in 2 minutes or 10 minutes.

3.5 Never Dies!
Thank you for this tool. My 5 Level Barbarian Stirges came out very nicely.
Also - is it too late to enter the 6d6 contest - looks like May 12th has passed; if the offer will be extended or if you haven't received any quality stuff. Please let me know.
Thanks again,
Pax
Hi Pax Veritas,
Glad your Happy with your Stirges. It's one of my friends Chris who runs 6D6 Fireball as far as I know the deadline has been extended he's got more information on the competion on his homepage. I'm sure he would appreciate any material you send.

Great Page
Are you going to add all the OGL monsters to this page?
Thanks Joey,
Yes I'm currently working my way through them all, and adding in more info to the current ones (Organization, Environment, Treasure, Advancement and Alignment). Done most monsters upto the letter "N" so far.I plan on using the organization and environment to create random war bands at a later date. The Advancement will be used to automatically change a creatures size when the appropriate HD is reached.
If any one wants a specific monster that I've not yet added just leave a comment to the monster Generator page and I'll set it up (probably the same day).

This Tool Is Awesome!!!
Here is a general question for anyone adept at OGL-isms...
Many books are OGL, but not all content is open game. This confuses me from time to time...
Of the following... only the MMI is in the SRD, right? What elements or whole collections (stats, names, pics, flavor text, ecologies, etc.) cannot be included in our own published material/products, provided OGL is attached with proper verbiage?
MM1 - yes?
MM2 - no?
MM3 - no?
MM4 - no?
MM5 - no?
Frostburn - no?
Sandstorm - no?
ToH1 - yes?
ToH2 - yes?
Toh3 - yes?
Denizens of Avadnu -yes?
etc., ...
just wondering if anyone knew?
Also, if it makes it into the generator, then is it safe OGL material?
Again, just wondering?

I am doing my best to stick to OGL material if anything slips through I would appreciate it if someone points it out. (I've just deleted a few monsters).
P.S. All spells will be appearing on a new "NPC generator" within the next few days.Dinglesgames

Wow! VERY handy to me! Any plans to include options from Unearthed Arcana, like flaws, traits, and so on?
Thanks for the suggestion Doc, I will certainly look into this - A good idea. I don't think the game rules are copyrighted so I should be ok using them. Does any one know if this could cause a problem?

UA contents were added to the SRD, iirc. Shouldn't be an issue to use anything in there. (oh, and adding the Celestial template would be awesome, too - would speed up me preparing opponents for my upcoming campaign...)

Your in luck I'm working on adding templates as a seperate feature as we speak. Should be available within a week on the NPC Generator. I'll make sure the Celestrial template is included.

Templates have now been added to the NPC Generator (including Celestial) Let me know what you think...

Doc_Outlands |

Celestial Creature 1-3 HD is missing. Not that it actually changes anything other than DR 5/Magic.
Also - why have the templates on the NPC Generator but not on the Monster Generator?
Also - ability stats for the Dire Rat (the only thing I've used so far) in the MonGen differ from those in the Monster Manual. I assume you used stats from the SRD and that, therefor, the stats in the SRD differ from the MM?
Very VERY useful tool! Too bad WotC didn't make feats, templates, etc OGC in all their books.

Thanks Doc,
The 1-3 template is now there (I'd set it up wrong), and Dire Rats now have the correct stats (A bug now fixed).I am creating an upgraded Monster Generator where you can select HD on the first screen for monsters with advancement, this will automatically Increase the monster size and stats when the monster is displayed. The old monster Generator will be unchanged for people who want complete flexability.

This is looking better all the time.
Thank you!
I've added it to my LINKS BAR so its only 1 click away on the PC next to my GM screen.
*blushes*
For those who know 'ol Pax, its true, I do also use a PC sometimes. Even though I'm old school, I am all about gaming efficiently, and in style.
This generator is one of the best I've seen - and I've been through a lot. I'm sharing news of this with as many gamers as I can.
Funny thing - - several are moving back to v.3.5/Pathfinder and planning on staying there - so this comes at an excellent time!
Thanks again.

Thanks Pax,
I've just added a few more templates and am now looking into the saving of your creations so you can revisit and re-edit them, and to automatically change the monster stats with the hit die (size, Str, Nat Armour, etc).I will then be comming to a cross-roads as I've just about created the NPC generator to be what I wanted it to be.
I can now start work on Pathfinder and be ahead of the field,
OR continue work on 3.5 (random encounters, encouter groups, etc) and maybe add in Pathhfinder material at a later date.
It's about time to throw the Dice
I'm tempted to risk all and throw all in with Pathfinder...
What does every one think.. Would you like more 3.5 generators or Pathfinder generators.
I am planning to add a cap limit to the NPC generator and any new generators (The monster generator will remain free) and start charging a small fee (yearly or lifetime subscription) for the full version.
I am working full time on this project and am hoping to make a living off something I enjoy doing (or until my savings run out).

I've now added in the automatic advancement of monsters by the HD as a dropdown list on the racial Hit Dice field (only if the monster advances by HD). Also if the size changes the STR, DEX, CON and Natural AC will also be updated when RECALCULATE is pressed on the NPC Generator
Dingles NPC Generator. The monster generator will remain unchanged.

I fully support digital tools to make my running of PRPG easier. If you do similar generators for the final PRPG rules, you'd have my money. I don't know about a subscription, but something to get a "full licensed version" of the generators would be more than reasonable. Just remember, if you are doing character generation and want to include setting specific things like nation names (for regional feats), deity names, etc. beyond just the basic OGL content, Paizo's community use policy (which allows these to be used freely) would no longer apply.

I can see some stuff I'd like added, just as suggestions here.
I'd love to see templates added. I need a mummified wolf, but the only choices for a wolf are to add PC or NPC Classes or nothing.
BTW, are you planning on updating to Pathfinder later?
Hope that isn't too much to ask for. :)
Hi Krome,
I've added templates to the NPC Generator Dingles NPC GeneratorBut Mummy is not a template it goes up by monster levels. You could use a basic mummy and change the primary weapon to a bite, add the Trip Special attack, and Track feat maybe adjust the some stats (increase dex) and change the speed to 40 or 50, maybe add 2 to the natural armour and you've got yourself a something like a Mummy wolf (You'll have to add the Trip special and track feat manually after you've printed it out). (All Stats can be over typed as can natural AC)
Yes, I am planning on adding in Pathfinder later.

Ahhh sorry, I use mummies from Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary, where they have templates for most of or many of the undead. I forgot the basic mummy is just a boring static monster. Yeah I like templates lol
:)
Ohh and BTW it is just awesome!

QUESTION!
Is there a place in the monsters for Spiders, Scorpions and Swarms? I couldn't find them.
Hi Krome,
I've added most of the vermin now. The spiders and scorpions don't follow the normal monster rules for size increases so I've had to create a new monster for each size catagory.Swarms don't change at all, they are just swarms (no size changes, no HD changes, no attack modifiers). So I didn't bother to add them to the generator.

Cool thanks. Only reason I was looking for swarms was for the stats to copy, which I was able to do from the d20srd.com site.
Sorry for the extra work. :) But obviously I am using it a lot! :)

No problem Krome (I've got to add in all monsters sometime). I've done all the vermin now, just finished off the centerpides.

So million dollar question is how easy is it going to be to port it over to Pathfinder once that comes out? I'm no programmer but it would seem to be a real bugger to enter all that data all over again!
BTW I LOVE that you can add classes to regular old critters like Spiders. It really makes for creating a whole new race and a great way to TOTALLY throw off players.
It's a Monstrous Spider that just cast BURNING MANDIBLES! UGGGGGGG!
Umm, what do you mean the Monstrous Scorpion just went into a Beserker Rage?
A Monstrous Centipede with Flurry of Blows? You're kidding right! Right?

I think the monster core stats remain the same between pathfinder and 3.5 I'd need to add in pathfinder skills and maybe adjust HD for undead (I'm not sure how pathfinfer does this looking at the Allip example).
Also i may have to adjust secondary attacks it looks as if pathfinder does not does not use -5 for secondary attacks (e.g. Dragonne).I'd have to change the way classes worked as well. I'd think probably a months work.

And I'd like to add that backward-compatibility was a design feature of Pathfinder RPG. Of course we'd love to see a straight PFRPG generator, HOWEVER, I wonder if Dingle wouldn't be best serving BOTH communities of players by just continuing straight-forward support for v.3.5. ???
It seems like in addition to supporting Pathfinder. The community should continue to keep popular v.3.5 and the OGL that makes all of this possible. (just my thoughts though, what does everyone think?)
That is...... it keeps the base system alive (v.3.5) and is compatible with PFRPG with minimal or little on-the-fly conversion needed. Thoughts?

By the way, this is probably one of the top most useful generators I have used. Thank you again, so very much.
I have it open and ready in every game session.
It creates a level of confidence I haven't completely felt before. With all of those stats at my fingertips in so many accurate permutations of possibility.... well, I'm simply thrilled!

2) could you drop me an email? oclark86@gmail.com (KaeYoss DO NOT sign me up for porn!) I want to see if you would be interested in sharing links from your site to mine and vice versa... the finished products will make heavy use of your stat blocks once you have the Pathfinder versions up. :)

I've added a tool to the website that allows you to add in your own monsters and templates (you need to logon to the site to do this and it will only be free for a short while).
I've also createn a D&D 3.5 Rogues Gallery / 3.5 Encounter Generator with over 700 NPC's on it

You can now also save your NPC's on line in your own library.

I've upgraded the NPC Generator to now include most Prestige classes, I've also added all the evil dragons, all age categories (I just ripped a 13th level party apart with a mature red dragon). Have a play at:

If you find and faults please let me know.
I'm now working on a Pathfinder version of the NPC generator. It should be up and running in about 4 weeks I reckon.
