Dodos, turkeys, ostriches, middle fingers...
I wonder if this joke might not translate well for readers whose native language isn't English.

Penguins, Ostriches, Emus, cassowaries... There are lots of them. But they aren't that easy to flip.

I would just like to point out that wild turkeys can and do fly as I have had more than one close call involving said bird using the road as a runway.

I prefer to not flip kiwis.
And yes turkeys in the wild can fly. It's the domestic ones that can't.
In any case, I'm thinking still Belkar might be in over his head.

Turkeys can definitely fly.
And it's freaky as hell to have one come out of a tree 10' above your head in the dusk. Those things are way too big to suddenly fly down at you.

I am not a native English speaker, and I'm wondering why the inhabitants of Ankara and Istanbul can fly, but all others humans not. :P

Giving/flipping someone "the bird" is slang for sticking your middle finger up at them, a derogetory gesture for f**k you/off.

I think there's a British equivalent but it eludes me atm.

I'm guessing you're referring to the Nobel Peace Prize. That is handed out by the Norwegian parliament's Nobel committee.
Peace Prize - Norwegian parliament
Literature - Swedish Academy
Chemistry - Swedish Science Academy
Medicine or Physiology - Karolinska Institutet (Medical University in the Stockholm area)
Physics - Swedish Science Academy
Memorial Prize for Economics (not a Nobel) - Swedish National Bank

Cheers,
Usually 'the Vs' or 'the finger' in my part of Blighty.
In my experience, it's retty rare among adults: the kind of things kids do when the teacher's back is turned.

New York is west of Carthage! You guys always get so technical. This is exactly like the time in college when I was road tripping to Rome, New York, and I spray-painted "Hitdice was here" right before I started a dumpster fire. My friends were all, "What in god's name are you doing?" I was like "Isn't it obvious? I'm a vandal in Rome!" Everyone got real quiet then, until my history major roommate (a real egghead type, let me tell you) said, "What you're doing lacks any historical context, importance or relevance." I was pretty embarrassed, so I took my spray-can and spray-painted "4eva" at the bottom of my earlier graffiti.
Oh, hey, "graffiti," that's a roman word!
