It references a genre of music and associated subculture. If one wants to call someone emotional, using "emo" is misleading. "Emo" is also often used in a derogatory fashion relative to everything from being "oversensitive" to various mental illnesses (such as depression). I mean you can use whatever word you want, but the word you chose to use carries connotations that are going to be read into it because you chose to use that word.

I see your point and hope I did not offend anyone and I apologize if I did as it is not my intent. I checked on Wikipedia but the derogative aspect did not appear that strongly to me. Sorry for that

It was also proposed months ago in the forums, and the Giant rejected it, saying something along the lines of "I wouldn't draw a comic strip where mass suicide was the answer." I don't see that post in the Index of the Giant's Comments, so I'll have to look some more to see if I can find it.
