James, with a half dozen new iconics in the not-so-distant future, any chance you could put a bug in someone's ear for an iconic with a non-hunky/toned body type? I'm a touch overweight myself and it's always bothered me that whenever I brought up the issue of overweight people as adventurers, the answer I almost always get is, "Well, overweight people don't adventure because you need to do a lot of physical activity to be an adventure. An overweight adventurer would either die because he's out of shape or loose the weight fast from the activity." Its a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

Along the same lines, an Iconic who is unquestionably in the Youth age category would be nice too. Pathfinder could use its own Araya Stark and with the Kid's Track seemingly getting bigger every year, a child iconic would be appreciated.

If I ever play a full swashbuckler, he's probably going to take a lot of inspiration from Jack Black. :)

to the god of gaming:

I have a player who wants to use the summoner's Summon Monster daily allotment to summon animals above enemy's heads and drop them on them. after I proved that he couldn't do that normally, he rebounded and said he would use a levitating disk. then I pointed out that a levitating disk cant go higher than 3 feet off the ground. he re-rebounded by saying he would use an Aqueous Orb over an enemy's head to summon aquatic creatures into then drop both on the enemy. I've tried to get across to him that this is a truly asinine way to do things. how can I foil his new idiocy?

Plus, the same player has become obsessed with necromancy. I've tried to get across to him that creating and using undead are an evil profession but he tries to justify it by citing their usefulness. I've even pointed out that the majority of society would not take kindly to seeing him and the party walking around with undead. he tried to counter with the argument that non-sentient undead should be ok. I'm tired of arguing with him on these aspects of the game. if I can quote the god of gaming, then it will be final.

Hugs
That Guy

You're right; you can't summon things into the air like that. That's not the point of those spells, and using things like an aqueous orb won't let you fix that.

And while necromancy isn't itself intrinsically evil, creating undead is. That INCLUDES non-sentient undead, and it says as much in their descriptions and their alignments.

And frankly, if your player won't respect your rulings as the GM... you might want to find a different player to take his/her place.

My thanks, oh god of gaming!

I once again approach the 20 sided altar.

I was re-reading my Dungeon issues of the Savage Tide AP and wondered if a possible Pathfinder conversion would be possible? This is my favorite AP of all and I know that there was a Forgotten Realms conversion guide. Any insight?

Who would be the best person to ask about Kellid naming conventions? There seems to be drastic differences between the names of Mammoth Lord Kellids, Numerian Kellids and Sarkorian Kellids.
That's by design. They're all Kellids, but they're from different regions. Different regions = different naming conventions.
So who or where would I ask if I wanted some help trying to make a name that "sounds Kellid" out of an existing name?
Set's advice about looking at "Conan" names is a great suggestion.

And good advice it was! Thank you both! :)

Did you ever watch the old BBC versions of the Chronicles of Narnia? That had some AMAZING music!

I don't know if this is inappropriate to ask, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but do you have any opinions on the latest rendition of the World's Oldest Roleplaying game?

Why does the Brawler from the new ACG get proficiency with the handaxe and short sword when they can't use them with their flurry class feature?

What are some good horror works that hinge off a trope I can't really encapsulate in a single statement? Basically it's the idea of being in a place that's a crude facsimile of something in the real world, sort of like Jonathan Wojcik's Awful Hospital webcomic, which depicts a place that LOOKS like a hospital, but it's filthy and dilapidated, labels are crudely painted and spelled incorrectly, the practicioners make disastrous mistakes and if this is pointed out to them, don't seem to comprehend and claim that the mistake IS proper medical procedure, and you should know that, and the garbage has fish skeletons in it not because someone eats fish there, but because that's what they think people EXPECT to find in the garbage. Like the people running it have seen hospitals on TV or in the media, but don't know how they actually work and create this nightmarish "Wonderland-version" that the protagonist becomes trapped in and is the only sane person in it?

I'll see what I can do. A stocky iconic is actually a pretty good idea. The young iconic is a bit trickier, alas... gamers and the pen and paper industry has traditionally been kinda timid when it comes to depicting children in danger; it's something we've done before now and then but to mixed results. Still... Arya Stark IS pretty awesome, I must admit.

Not possible at all, I'm afraid. Wizards of the Coast owns Savage Tide. If they wanted to do a Pathfinder conversion, they could, but we wouldn't be able to without securing a special license from them... and I'm not so sure we'd be into that.

I haven't watched it, no. I'm actually not a big fan of the Narnia stories.

I've glanced at the 5th edition rules, and I like them a LOT LOT LOT more than 4th edition. I'm eager to try the game out, but the fact that they include all the classic options for race and class in the Player's Handbook AND openly talk about Greyhawk is pretty huge. If they made succubi back into demons... I'll be even more delighted.

Because sometimes you want options, I suppose. That's a better question for Jason.

Well, judging from the preview of the MM I've seen: I've got good news and bad news. The GOOD news is Succubi are no longer devils. The BAD news is they're not demons again either. They get their own entry in the MM all to themselves (To me it looks kind of like how you took the chain devil and used it as the basis for a new type of outsiders entirely, the kytons, but since the MM hasn't come out yet, I don't know details).

Radiation is a poison effect, so anything that's immune to poison would be a good fit for a radioactive area. And yes, there will be some radiation-themed monsters now and then in Iron Gods. Including the irradiated dead!

Heyo chief! Hopefully you're recovering from the Con.

Question for really no good reason but my own curiosity. How does Paizo intend "daemon" to be pronounced?

In modern English the "ae" (which I'm assuming is "æ") is usually pronounced like a long "e". Obviously, that would make things a bit confusing, what with all the demons running around. I think it's safe to assume that pronunciation is right out...

So, I'm assuming the first syllable is pronounced like "day"?

We pronounce it DAY-mon. It's not technically right, but then again, the creatures they represent are entirely fanciful and not (for the most part) from mythology, so that's fine.

Skeletsons have no Intelligence score, and undead aren't really appropriate races as PCs, so ... I'd say none of them.

I mean that what you're essentally doing is mashing around the flesh but not restructuring bone and musculature. The result would look like a partially melted or damaged wax sculpture.

If you want to be able to use fabricate or Craft to re-work a petrified creature's appearance and have the underlying biology still somehow work fine when they're restored to flesh, that's something you'll need GM approval for. In my opinion, when you rework a person's petrified body like that, that's just mashing around the flesh. It's no different than taking a scalpel or other tools to try to reshape someone's face, save that you won't have any way to tell arteries and fat and muscles and organs apart from the rest of the body, since while it's stone, it's ALL stone.

So I picked up the Technology Guide this week along with Occult Mysteries. I gave the former to my brother to glance at (he's playing a Rocket Raccoon-inspired character in one of our games) while I read Occult Mysteries.

Its been almost two hours later. He won't give me the book back. Instead, he just keeps quoting items and equipment out of the book with a maniac grin on his face.

No question, just thought you might like to know about the in-fathomable acts of chaos that will no doubt ensue from your brainchild.

Beyond harmful to undead, you mean?

We haven't actually done much with positive energy effects in Pathifnder yet. In D&D, you could "overheal" by being on the plane for too long, at which point you basically explode from an overdose of life, which ironically basically kills you.

I did work on Elder Evils—I did the chapter on the obyrith lord Sletorous or however it was spelled.
