It's possible, yes.

Frustratingly, I find few Mesoamerican cognates to the notion of demons. The Nahuatl name for devil is "diablo" - clearly borrowed. Tlacatecototl also means demon, literally - "owl person." The Quencha word is "Aya," but it can also mean "ghost, spirit," as in ayahuasca.

I like the idea that Tlacatecototl might be a word for Syrinx, which clearly derived from the Greek Strix + Siren, and hence might be the Avistani word.

I think having a separate "native" race of Outsiders would be useful for explaining the sociological and religious differences (whatever they might me, but perhaps focused on placating evil spirits at least in the Mesoamerican analogue) in Arcadia. So I am very interested in this idea. Arcadia, after Vudra, is my second-favorite undescribed part of Golarion.

If you could be any of Golarion's player races, which one would you be? if human, where would you hail from?

Similarly, if you actually lived on Golarion, where would you settle down?

Finally, and only tangentially relevantly, what is your favorite familiar, if any?

A question regarding mythic individuals.

How much respect do level 20 tier 10 individuals receive from the beings of the universe? Are they constantly being propositioned by organizations and religions, to join this or that cause, assassination attempts just out of fear, on the off-chance they might involve themselves in something?

1. Is the trope Bodyguarding A Badass very much in play for many leaders in Golarion (particularly in Tian Xia)?

2. Could and has King Haung of Lingshen ever solo an entire army by himself?

3. Are the people of Tian Xia far less aggressively xenophobic of each other compared to their real life counterparts?

4. Would the Tien think that the xenophobia in East Asia is just plain f-ed up?

How would you respond to a player who is playing a gunslinger, and utilizes Early Firearms (I believe you've stated that's the norm for Golarion, and they're rare except in Alkenstar), who decides in character to try and invent advanced firearms? That player I mentioned before has decided if he can't start the game with a revolver, he'll just try to make it himself, while doing Wrath of the Righteous (the current IC justification is that his family came from Alkenstar to join the Crusades, and while he's grown up in Mendev, his family taught him how to shoot).

IANJ, but I'm in a campaign where revolvers got handed out.

Revolvers are HUGE - they bypass a number of the drawbacks associated with early firearms (don't blow up, easy to reload), and make passive certain things that otherwise require massive expenditures of grit to do (like hitting touch AC at up to 100 feet away).

Your gunslinger obtaining a revolver is pretty comparable to a paladin getting a holy avenger. It's a big deal, and it should come later in the campaign.

I'd allow a master gunsmith whose kept up their engineering ranks to make it themselves at 13th or 15th level or so. I'd allow it much earlier if they managed to capture a specimen elsewhere (like if you gave one to an enemy at lower levels).

As a screwball alternative with fascinating repercussions, I'd allow him to learn how to make one at lower levels if he sold his soul to Szuriel, Horseman of War. I'd still require a minimum level of 7 or higher to build the thing without the benefits of late 1800's technology.

Even in Alkenstar, only a handful of people actually have revolvers - they're too hard to make for Alkenstar to mass produce the things.

I'd remind the player that I'm the GM and that I'm the one who makes world decisions like that, and then tell him if he REALLY wants to hope for a revolver, build a cool backstory that supports it and I'll try to work it into the campaign... but ONLY if the player pulls out some back story and roleplaying to justify the reward.

I recently discovered Legendary Games. How canon is the material they produce? I'm specifically talking about "Under Frozen Stars," wherein the PCs travel to the Nameless Spires at the Crown of the World, and "Tomes of Ancient Knowledge," which details "books" such as the Xanthun Tablets and Sarkoris Shards.

To put it another way: I know Paizo and Legendary games are officially two different companies. That said, were Paizo to ever publish an adventure focused on the Nameless Spires, how closely would they resemble Jason Nelson's (incredibly awesome) vision of the place? If you had decided to stat up the Sarkoris Shards in the Lost Kingdoms article of Sarkoris, same question.

Thanks!

I'm thinking of converting kuo-toa to PF rules because I like their special abilities, but their campaign role seems to have been taken over by the skum, which I also like for their Lovecraft influence. Can you think of any reason to include both races in a campaign?

James, is there discrimination against LGBT individuals in Golarion? If so, how bad is it, and who is responsible?

Wesley told me in his question thread that the Plasma Ooze originally had a brother in Bestiary 3 called the Gravity Ooze, but because of bad artwork this creature was cut from the Bestiary 3.

Can you name 5 other creatures that suffered the same fate because of bad fluff, bad art or other problems?

So 5 creature names and descriptions that would have appeared in a bestiary but which were cut due to problems in art/fluff/other such things. (I already know about the Kaiju ones from bestiary 3, so those don't count)

Thanks!

As one member of the Legendary Games design team, I feel obligated to interject our view here. And I can tell you none of the Legendary Games material is truly "canon" to anything Paizo produces. Our Adventure Path plug-in series is certainly designed in such a way that it supports Paizo's products, of course. But we're very much not creating anything that one could label as true canon to Paizo's setting. That's because we're not allowed to use Paizo's intellectual property in anything we produce. Now, that said, I'm sure there are many GMs and players out there who view our stuff as "canon" for the purposes of their home games, but that's no different than picking up any other 3PP material and deciding it's part of your version of Golarion and how you portray it at the gaming table.

Though each of those products are written in a way that you could use them at the Crown of the World or for Sarkoris, we avoided using those exact names to steer clear of violating Paizo's IP. For example, it's the Sarkulis Shards in "Tomes of Ancient Knowledge." Not Sarkoris. The parallel is certainly there if you want it to be, but obviously it's not canon in any way whatsoever.

Crane Ripost allows you to make an AoO against an enemy you block with Crane Wing.

Does this mean if I had a whip in on hand, or the Snap Shot feat, I could attack an enemy outside my threatened area? Since I only need a threatened area for my enemies to provoke AoO, but crane ripost says to make an AoO

The game is big enough for plenty of monsters. "I like their special abilities" is reason enough for me for you to include kuo-toa in your game! :-)

Had we been able to use kuo-toa, we would have likely have cut skum entirely from the game, frankly, and had the main aboleth minion in Golarion be faceless stalkers, and then have the kuo-toa be our deep ones.

Or heck... we probably would have just statted up deep ones.

There absolutely is. But not on a mass scale. It's very regional. For example, see Sandpoint, where one of the noble families, the Scarnettis, are pretty set against it (although this is a relatively subtle part of the town, and only one part of the Scarnettis, who are set up as an all-around intolerant and kinda stubborn not-quite-bad-guy antagonist type NPC who aren't evil, but aren't gonna be PC allies).

Oh... lots. In many cases I don't remember the names, but things like the squoink and the akyrak come to mind. Out of the thousands of monsters we've published, I'd say less than 1% were cut because of bad fluff or the like after they got all the way to the fully-laid out stage. We have, of course, turned down PLENTY of others... but those never got to see an editor's light.

1) There is no picture of it, and we deliberately did NOT describe it so that a PC who takes the trait has the ability to design something that looks good for his/her character. If I were to design it, it would be something akin to three spirals, their centers arranged as if at the points of a downward pointed triangle, with the spirals going out until they touch each other. Maybe. Might be a triangle in there too, perhaps.

That's a great question for the rules forum and a FAQing.

I would rule that the feat doesn't let you do anything with a whip you can't normally do.

Yes, I'd say you need to make the AoO with the whip, because the act that triggered the AoO only did so because of the whip.

I'm not sure what you mean by my "Personal endings." It's all right there in print already, isn't it? Or are you asking "How do I hope they end, and if we ever graduate them into canon, how will I make them end for Golarion?"

In my games, whether or not one is canon or not depends on the party. If I run one AP and then do another with the same group; they're canon. If it's a different group, it generally is not.

If I run something in my homebrew setting of Baria, that's a different story—ALL of those adventures become canon for that world. But I haven't run something in Baria for many many years.

If Harry Dresden gated into Golarian, based on his current experiences up to Cold Days, what would his Pathfinder class/stats look like..

I mean he's got to have some templates at the very least..and I see him approaching mythic status a few books from now..

Oh, I see. Convenient!

1) Just how much many people know about how the afterlife works, generally? That is, you become a petitioner with no memory of who you were, get cycled through, become an outsider? Is it something that only a few particularly powerful clerics and such that are close to their deities know, is it something that almost any major church would know in the upper ranks but not necessarily want spread around, is it something that most cosmopolitan types would know, but might not have gotten to certain areas? I say this since I have at least one character who believes that reincarnation is the default and not the exception, as a product of her society that believes that (not very god oriented, they tend to venerate elementals, some fey, ghosts of their ancestors, etc.) but sometimes I wonder if it's realistic...

2) What is it about the negative energy plane that drives undead to evil? It itself isn't evil, but pretty much any undead that isn't a ghost is...is it just because while it itself isn't evil, being powered by the antithesis to life itself either makes them deranged or strongly desire to do things that are evil?

3) For that matter, why do good-aligned clerics get access to positive energy and evil-aligned clerics to negative energy? Neither is in and of itself good or evil...is it just indicative of the kind of mindset you need to have to be close to one or the other? Or just an artifact from previous editions?
