What does 3rd party publishers mean?? I'm guessing WotC, as the official publisher of D&D would be first party, but apparently all others are 3rd. if that's the case, who are second party publishers??
A 2nd party publisher would be what Paizo was when we were doing Dragon and Dungeon; we were publishing material for WotC but were not actually a part of WotC.

I'm not sure what your acronym is referring to...
Ah; fair enough. I barely know what FAWLTy is anyway. Got other things to do, I guess. Like push this thread toward it's 3000th post.

My idiot roommate has just gotten himself fired from selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door (it's true, I swear) and is wanting to join the game I run. If it were any other person I'd let him in but he cannot roleplay, refuses to take part in anything that isn't "kill it!", has no concept of strategy, and has no respect for the rules, the fact that he's not calling the shots, nor the fact that there are other people in the group. If it's not a fight he whines loudly then goes off to play his videogames because "we're not doing anything fun". When I go on without his character because I'm tired of his $&#( he whines again that we dared play without him. I have other players who have hinted that they will not play if he's in the game.
And now because he got fired from selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door he's assuming I'll jump for joy because now he's available to make the game oodles of fun!
...
First of all, I feel better. I needed to rant that somewhere. Even if/tho you're not going to answer I feel much better having ranted that.
Second, what would you do in this situation? Have you ever had to deal with man-children such as this?

I know you really, really, loath Eberron, with the fiery passion of a thousand suns, but I rather like it, especially the races(well, sans Warforged really. they are neat, but i can pass on them)
I am currently thinking of making Golarion my new home setting(it was going to be Eberron, but G-land might be better). Are there lands where Changelings, Shifters and Kalashtars could fit??
Also, I love the concept of Sharn. Does Golarion have such a city, and where might be a good place to drop Sharn itself??

I've always been under the impression that the second party in these cases is the customer.

Spartans are they:
Proto Fascists, who enslaved the native peoples of the land they invaded and as a result of the apartheid state they set up required a brutal militaristic society with secret police and the culling of their enslaved population (of fellow Greeks).
Who in the end took gold from the Persian King to defeat the Athenians and control the Greek City states by force, forever diminishing the memory of Leonidas and his (some what ironic) stand for the freedom of the Greek states from the rule of an overlord.
Or
The ultimate paragons of the Paladin, brave, selfless, shiny and pointy, who ride unicorns and fart faeries?

One of my favourite historical figures is the tragic Alcibiades.... Anybody that can save the life of Socrates, then go over to the Spartan side when falsely accused of mutilating religious statues and single-handedly change the war in Sparta's favour.
Then seduce the Spartan Kings wife and be strongly suspected fathering the heir to the Spartan throne.
Then fleeing to the Persians convincing them to give him money to raise and command a fleet to save Athens from Sparta, only to be kicked out of Athens in a counter coup and going back to Persia.
Getting bored and seducing a lot of Noble Persian ladies and being assassinated by either or both the Spartans and/or annoyed Persian husbands.
Do you have a favourite historical figure?

Also, what is your take on the announcement of a Godzilla remake due in 2012?
It is: I have not seen the film but since I'm a big Ultraman fan, I wish I had.
That is unacceptable. It is being rectified.

In Australia if you turn 100 years old our Queen sends the lucky person a letter of congratulations.
Do you think that for every 1000 posts or so somebody makes on the forum that they could be sent an email of congratulations from a ruler of Golarion....?
10000 Posts: Eiseth, the Erinyes Queen...sends an email urging you to go on rampage in the upper realm
5000 Posts: Queen Telandia Edasseril sends an arty farty tree hugging email.
2500 Posts: Queen Elvanna sends an email informing you that she will remove any blight hexes on your village and not feed you to the wolves for a year.
1000 Posts: Queen Ileosa Arabasti invites you to her coronation which can be found in the excellent Curse of the Crimson Throne AP.

Hmm. Thanks for the answer to the previous post, James. A slightly trickier question now.
Where do you see Paizo products placing in a Quality/On Deadline/Volume of Different Products triangle? For that matter, are there two noticeably different triangles, one for GenCon products (where I assume products will place with a high focus on the on deadline axis), and one for all others?
Roughly how much of Paizo's editting time (in percentage of total work hours a year, say) goes on GenCon products every twelve months, and how much on other products? Given the playtests, it seems to me a lot more time of at least some editors must go on GenCon than on anything else...

Vent accepted and processed.
I would let the guy join the game, but I'd tell him that it's on a temporary basis and that he's under no obligation to keep playing if the game doesn't feel fun to him. And I would also explain to him that if he makes the game less fun for me or the other players, that he'd get the old heave-ho as well. Not much ruins a fun game more than a player that doesn't want to be in the game and isn't having fun and is complaining all the time.

If you can justify changelings, shifters, and kalashtars or Sharn in your version of Golarion, that's all you need to put them in.
In my opinion, they don't fit well at all—Sharn in particular feels way too high-magic for Golarion.
The general rule for the Inner Sea, though, is that the higher magic something is, the further south it is. That's not a PERFECT rule (Irrisen is pretty high magic and the Mwangi Expanse is pretty low magic) but for the most part, if it's high-magic wahoo stuff, we put it further south.

The key phrase is "publisher." Customers consume, they don't publish. That's not to say you can't multiclass from customer to publisher, though! :P
