Oh, man.
I've donated blood since I was in college, except for a 5-year hiatus when a false positive for Hepatitis was enough to get me on the disallow list. There was only one time they thought about turning me away--I had a pulse over 100 (I guess the drive in was stressful), but they just waited for a few minutes and my pulse dropped back to normal.
Luckily, I've never had complications donating blood.

It's kind of cold this morning, I'm bundled up with my laptop, but I was too lazy to make coffee and had cold cereal instead. I hope everyone is having a good, warm morning.

I'd probably die with a pulse rate like that. Mine's usually 52-55.
I had a 24 hour stress test 7 years ago. Sleeping in one of those hospital cubbies with a curtain as a door and having your stats checked every hour do not make for a fun nite. Nurse comes in at 4 am and is looking intently at the monitor. I woke up at the curtain rustle, expecting a ninja attack or something. She sees me watching and asks if I usually have such a low pulse rate. I confirm, but apparently the rate drops below 40 when I sleep. Kinda like hibernation, which is why it's so hard for me to wake up sometimes.
Must not have been dreaming about Jessica Alba. That's when I wake up _____. ;)

But I'm not allowed to buy anything for myself until after Christmas (family rule). I don't know if I can stand the suspense!
EGADS! BUT...but...technically, isn't it always "before" Christmas? Damn! It's like that whole gremlins eating after midnight thing! Which midnight? What happens if they cross a time zone? Or if they're subjected to light speed?

I just discovered that Orson Scott Card is writing a new fantasy series AND a book I enjoyed is part of a series...a new series to enjoy! woot!

Simple. Give me all of your money and I'll buy you something. Maybe.

The family rule is there is a moratorium on all non-essential purchases from Thanksgiving to Christmas to allow family members to buy presents that's aren't invalidated by impulse buying.

Yeah, half the fun of a big purchase is the anticipation and planning. LIke a big part of the excitement in creating a character for a campaign is going over and over the character's personality, motivations and possible build directions.
...
but there's something to be said for instant gratification as well. :)
I'm really excited about the series. It's a prequel and two sequels to one of those books my dad would always stop to mock me for reading. "The protagonist is a girl that fights? That's ridiculous! Girls can't fight - they exist to be the romantic interest of the protagonist or to be rescued! You should read girl stories about romance and hairstyles and babysitting! And stop stealing my Sci-Fi books I get from the library off the library shelf!"
