No worries. I just love Jazz and Daze Koz.

Cool. I like Jazz too. When I lived in Ashland, KY I used to go to a Jazz festival in Huntington WV. However, I haven't gone to any since moving to Virginia.

Speaking of, have you bothered to attend any such festivals where you live?

Actually I'm not even aware of any that might be local. Haven't been to a concert in years. The last three I went to were huge disappointmets. So I pretty much just stick to listening to radio (when I can't stand it) or my MP3s.

Two questions...

What is your current town of residence?

A festival will be a little different than a concert. Were those last three jazz festivals, jazz concerts, or some other type of concert that you went to?

Scottsdale, AZ (Phoenix inclusive)

No, they weren't jazz. I'm just more concerned about artists sounding way too diferently in concert then they do in their albums; Britney Spears comes to mind, her Live From Las Vegas DVD leaves much to be desired from actually wanting to see her in concert.

I think you should try to get together with a friend or two and go to a jazz festival instead of looking for a concert by a big name artist. Perhaps with some local talent. That way, you won't be let down by them not sounding as good in person.

I also think the best idea is to go in order to have fun with some friends instead of just for the music. Just let it set the atmosphere. Jazz festivals are cool because they can be a lot more laid back than a Metallica or Britney concert. :)

Some of these might be old, but it is a sample of some of the things in your area:

Arizona Classic Jazz, Jazz Festival..sounds fun and is fairly cheap

Paradise Valley Jazz Party...sounds good but may be expensive

Scottsdale Latin Jazz Festival & Hispanic Heritage Celebration...interesting

SLJF&HHC:

The first Scottsdale Latin Jazz Festival sizzles with the sounds, rhythms and flavors of Latin America! This exhilarating outdoor celebration showcases top Latin jazz artists from Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and the United States, from the legendary Arturo Sandoval to rising stars Claudia Villela, Tiempo Libre and Ximena Sariñana and Arizona’s own Cascabel, Cinco de Moio, Powerdrive and Rakata. Stroll the beautiful grounds of the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall and enjoy continuous live music on the amphitheater stage, a Latin Mercado featuring handmade arts and crafts, delicious Latin-inspired cuisine and beverages and the Peanut Butter & Latin Jam family area offering creative activities for children. Inside, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ new Virginia G. Piper Theater hosts the Scottsdale Latin Ballroom Dance Competition

As stated, most of these links are for last year but a little work should be able to find the current ones.

I think they are a good idea because they are a good "mixer" atmosphere (more laid back than pop concerts...) where you can have some fun with your friends with the background of music that you like.

My two cents.

That makes me want to go to a jazz festival. Or, at least find a festival with Latin food.

Speaking of Jazz, these guys, Fattburger will be playing in a festival in my area the weekend of the 23rd and 24th.

I'll tell you what's broken: all these new avatars attached to the names of people I'm supposed to know. Please fix this. It makes Butterfrog's picture obsolete.

Looks like old school Italian Ristorante. There's this nice one in Reynoldsburg that's a couple stone throws from AB's new abode that the interior / exterior looks similar to the one you visited.

I had to delete that post twice and give up. Something's f&~~ing up with the quote as there was a section that acted as if it were my own, but it wasn't included in the quote.

Seems it got to you too.
