Celestial Obedience - Familiar / Animal Companion

Rules Questions

If i pick up Celestial Obedience: Lymnieris (heh, that's a hell of a daily obedience) and I reach 16th level, gaining the "Rite of Passage" boon, can I permanently turn my familiar or animal companion into the shape of a dragon?

That definitely looks possible. Note that Greater Polymorph (the spell effect called out) limits you to Form of the Dragon I for the dragon shape.

Awesome, seems like a cool little gem, plus the flavor of your little gecko familiar turning into a dragon. Pair it with eldritch guardian fighter and it could be fun.

I guess with eldritch guardian you could also turn it into a humanoid shape and let it wield a weapon? Seems interesting.

You can only have one creature polymorphed at a time with that ability.

Not sure what you're driving at there, I was merely saying that you could use the ability to turn your familiar into either a medium dragon or a human that wields a weapon and benefits from all your combat feats.

New Question(s):
Is the mauler familiar's battle form a polymorph effect?
How would it work with me turning my familiar into a human or medium dragon? (would i still get +2 str from battle form?)
What about turning it into a gnome? (could i become a medium sized gnome?)
Would it lose the battle form ability when polymorphed?

Multiple magical effects that change size never stack. This includes both polymorph effects and battle form, so they won't stack.

The "also" in your previous post suggested to me that you did want to do them at the same time. Never mind then.

Ah, sorry for the confusion, i just meant one day your familiar could be a dragon, another day a guy with a greatsword - the "also" was in reference to it also gaining the fighter's combat feats if you pick that archetype.

Righto, but in regard to the strength bonus "In battle form, the mauler’s size becomes Medium and the mauler gains a +2 bonus to Strength. (this stacks with the normal Strength adjustments for increasing in size)", it doesnt say its a size bonus, so does the familiar gain the +2 bonus to strength if its in battle form when i polymorph it? Basically, does it lose battle form when its polymorphed or just the size alteration from battle form?

+Bonus question: Does the familiar still have the ability to add dex to attack rolls while polymorphed?

Battle Form is a magical ability that changes size. So is Greater Polymorph. Therefore the two abilities (in their entirety) do not stack, so no +2 Strength.

Bonus answer: Yep! Even small-size familiars get it, after all. It'll stop being useful if they get too big, of course.

Thanks Quid :)
