I'm basically saying this just to taunt you. ;)

In all seriousness, I'm looking forward to Round 2, I'm thinking it's going to let some people really shine.

Thank heavens last week I conceived my Vaseline Golem. I am now theoretically prepared.

Evil man, you are EVIL! Must be part of what makes you such a great game maker :)

I'm not going to ask why you have a Vaseline Golem. I'm not going to ask what you intend to do with it either. There are some things that cannot be unseen, and some thoughts that cannot be unthought.

*shudder*

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Here's how good Sean is--not only has he written them, but he's posted them to all of us for input, gotten it and turned around revisions and gotten the web guys up and running on what they need to do for implementation.

Now that is a Superstar! Way to go, Sean! (Yes, I've seen the task; No, I'm not telling; and Yes it is awesome).

Is it completely different from previous years??

We both know I'm not answering that :)

I hope we all get the rules and not just the top 32 cos that way, if I dont cut it, I can still have a go for my own benefit to see if I can fulfill the timescales and continue to learn and improve in readiness for next time :)

Yes, it's a man with a tape recorder up his nose.

Round 2 : Design a game designer, complete all aspects including what snacks and how many Mountain Dew's you drink during one session. I am partial to the cheese balls!

What level of creepiness/pure evil will be tolerated in subsequent rounds? If there were a design-a-villain round would a dire flumph blackguard who tortures children by stealing and eating their kittens in front of them whilst taunting them that the Golarion equivalent of Santa Claus does not exist (3.5 Mammies on the Logue scale of villainy) be too baaaaad? (Although this specific example obviously wouldn't be credible in contest as the Golarion version of Santa Claus would promptly show up to kick the flumph's butt into orbit.)

And another (possibly not covered) question: May contestants rework material they may have posted elsewhere on the Paizo boards, so long as it has not been entered in a previous Superstar contest, and is 100% original to them?
(After all I suspect that some game designers/writers insert things from their home games into published work...)

Too far, sir! Too far!

...plus, I don't think the flumph made the SRD (can't check due to DayJob filters).

Everyone gets to see the rules posted (caveat -- this is what they did the prior two years), as it helps you to judge if the contestants followed the rules when you're placing your votes for the next round :)

Correct, but the flumph is open content thanks to Necromancer Games' Tome of Horrors.

Nice! Paizo doesn't ping on the DayJob's filters, so I can see that with no problem. Thank you for the link!

Still no Flumph. (Thank goodness!)

Perhaps it IS packed meat like polish sausage. If so, the real question is: is he happy to see you?

Well, it's public vote, so you have to judge your audience and decide if Messers Pett and Logue are popular ;)

From my point of view, if you are doing it to horrify the character with the sheer twisted evil that they are up against, then you'll get my vote (presuming that Top 32 folks get one - ha, unlikely I have to worry about that!). If you are just doing it to shock the reader and get the 'shock jock' vote, then no.

Meh, kilonazis are metric measurements, and as such lacking in style or panache. I refuse to use them unless contractually required.

The Mammy, on the other hand, is the imperial unit of villainy, derived from Mammy Graul in Mr. Logue's Hook Mountain Massacre.

Yeah, but no one uses Imperial units ever since the second Death Star was destroyed. We're all on the Wookie system now.

I think it is more a US Customary unit rather than an actual Imperial unit. There's a lot of overlap between the two systems, but this is one of the places they vary.

Perhaps Sean or someone from the previous years could clarify the following from the FAQ. The round 2 rules which we will see shortly probably answer this but I’ll ask it now as it more of a general question which many people likely already know the answer to.

In the FAQ it says:

Who can vote in the RPG Superstar contest?
During the Open Call round of the contest (Round 1), the official judges will decide which 32 entrants go to the next round. In each subsequent round, each person with an account on paizo.com will be able to vote. You must have an account on paizo.com to vote in the contest--visit secure.paizo.com/paizo/account to set up a free account.

I interpret this to mean that contestants still in the running may vote. This seems a little odd to me but hey, ya never know. Is this the case?

Yes. Contestants (even those still competing) may also vote...even for themselves, if they wish (and most do). :-)

Typically, you get more than one vote to assign during each round, though. Meaning, in Round 2, you'll probably be able to vote for like your 8 favorites or something (out of the 32 submissions). Then, once all the votes are tallied from every voter, the Top 16 will advance to the next round. In the final round, however, you only get one vote...and that goes toward the ultimate winner of the entire competition.

Hey, I made no bones about the fact that I voted for myself every round when I was competing. It's a sad dog that won't wag it's own tail. :)

Yes, contestants get votes just like anyone else with an account here, and they can vote for themselves. :)

I hereby declare my intention to vote for myself, as many times as possible, whether I'm actually in the competition or not.

Oh crap! I finally got distracted enough to wait out the final days peacefully, but just realized: WINNERS ANNOUNCED TOMORROW. And Round 2 is already in motion! So much for sleeping tonight...
