I threw in too. I've also seen a number of people who I've either read their work they generously post freely here on the boards, through Open Design, or reading their previously published stuff post here that they've entered, and I'm really excited for what's to come. I think this is going to be a really fantastic season for RPG Superstar.
Good luck, Adam! I'm glad you were able to enter the contest this year.

Finally, I post my wondrous item and it was my first item I created. It helped me to understand all the analyze and the read needed to create an magic item and how the spell gets a role in the creation of magic item.
Good job!
Entering the contest cost you nothing, but you gained something out of the experience. Something from nothing is always a bargin! You might even make it to the first round! Good luck!

I'm in. Best of luck to us all.
Yeah RealTom you made it.
And for an update:
pg1 –12 entrants (entreants?)
pg 2 – 8
pg 3--16
]pg 4-- 14
Page 5 – 7
Pg 6 -- 8
Pg 7—14
79 so far.
I figure it is more like one in nine entrants that tell us they post making the total close to the 800+ of the first year. I also figured there was a drop in the second year as everyone realized just how tough these turnarounds could be and expect an increase this year over last.
In NANOWRIMO you only have to cross the finish line to win. In that fashion, I am naming you all winners!

I sent mine in this morning. The Cult of Done helped me alot (it's a lot less sinister than it sounds :).
Good luck to everyone. Can't wait to see how awesome the competition is.

I've entered. Used almost exactly 300 words. It's an item I could see eating several hours of game session as the players have fun figuring it out. But all the things I think make it nifty end up not appearing in the 300 word description.
I've got the stat block, but it would be the game notes that made it live. And they're not required for the contest.
Anyone else having that feeling?

Just about to enter. How many words are in "all work and no play make Sebastian a dull boy?"
I have heard it said that it is ten. But I can neither confirm nor deny that. And that nice Mr. Orcus will punish you severely if you enter a gag item that is for any purpose other than shutting someone up.

30 times will keep you from getting an auto-reject for word count. Of course, doing that might get another rant out of Clark. :)

The 'dull boy' is a great wondrous item: I see it as a sort of slow-witted marionette-golem, that can be sent on tedious errands.
It is bound to Sebastian's service by the strings of boring habits: can't break his commands as long as it is kept working. But when Sebastian leaves it idle, the strings grow slack and it runs off to join the cast of the local puppet theatre.| deinol |
I'm in! I submitted yesterday. After looking it over one last time and deciding any change would make it worse. I fear I'm too close to a spell in a can though. Still, it was fun.
Good luck everyone!
Now comes the hard part, waiting two weeks...

Congrats to all who entered. Whatever may happen, you all have already won in one sense--the process of creation is itself an achievement. I dont say that to be cheesy, its true. Making the decision to do it, working on it, following through and then having the nerve to submit your item for scrutiny is a major accomplishment. And, frankly, you have done all that you can do. The rest is up to us and you have no control over that part at this point. So from an effort standpoint you have done everything you can do--someone who makes or misses the cut has done the same stuff.
Good job!

Thanks Clark! I was back and forth over entering for a long time, but it really does feel good to have put something in. Like you say, managing to finish something and send it in feels like a bit of a win already.
The rest is up to us and you have no control over that part at this point.
I'm a bit disappointed in this part though... Are you saying that there wasn't any point in me sending a pony over to you, Sean and Wes?

Poor Sebastian.

Man, I could totally eat a pony right now...
Oh uh yeah. I'm in, and I have to thank Neil and Clark for their help and “just go for it anyway” prodding. Also thanks for the whole contest in the first place.
If you ever do an EDITSuperstar™ contest for editors, my girlfriend is a shoe-in.
Edit: Trademarked!

I felt that it made a nice statement about the unity of the judges. All a part of the same whole! Plus, if they have a needle and thread then they may be able to knit the pieces together and make a nice undead beastie.

These are the miniatures I'm working on, the guy that sent them to me to paint wanted similar color scheme to the ones in the picture on Reaper and mine seem to be turning out excellent! I'll post pictures of *mine* on Facebook as soon as they're done. :o)

Thank you!
The guy who asked me to paint these wanted very much the look from the reaper site. I tried my best to make them similar but in no way am I as talented as Derek Schubert, the artist who painted the sea elves on reaper's site. Sphew awesome work there! I'm getting better little by little. I've only been painting since October '09. I love it!
But anyway, returning this thread back to it's original topic (woops).

2) Inspiration Could Strike Anew - There's just no guarantee that your first idea will be the best...or even the idea that you select from among several you initially dreamed up. I know I had about three different ideas when I started out last year. I worked for quite sometime on the first one, but it was very complicated to word it just right in 200 words or less. Plus, my idea for the last leaves just kept calling to me. So, somewhere in the early going, I abandoned the other idea to focus on it. And, obviously, I'm very glad I did.
I had one item I was working on that I could not word correctly either. It had nothing to do with word count, just an idea that was weird, necromatic, and down right sinister, so thus, it still sits on my shelf until I can figure it out. However, I did see an item in the self rejected thread that was hauntingly similar, so I am glad I could not figure it out. :D

I wouldn't necessarily say that, it's obvious from looking at the two miniatures, you use a different style, and possibly you use paints that have thicker pigmentation.

I didn't submit anything, as I loathe rejection. :(
Sorry to hear that. I am sure you have more to offer the community than you think. Try to remember what Chaucer said, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."
Or, one of my personal favorite Latin phrases... Fortes fortuna adiuvat which means, "Fortune favors the brave."
Hope you'll try next year!
