I kind of wish they had released it before thanksgiving though. I have a game on Sunday and I am going to be switching out my char for a summoner( it matches his concept more ).

Of all the six, the Summoner is the class I'm really excited with. I really hope it would be cool and fun.

BTW, the Oracle has been a GREAT surprise... very fancy ! (not counting the art of the iconic Oracle... rawr!) - I have great expectations for all the other classes (the Cavalier, however, left me a bit cold...)

Well, it seems like you are predisposed toward caster classes :) The cavalier seemed pretty decent to me. And the fact that they are supposed to be niche classes means the slight dependence on a mount didn't bother me as much.

Oracle was first on my "must see" list, but Witch runs a close second.

can't wait ;)

So when exactly will I get to play a Summoner*?

For the record DB, the verbal component is NOT 'I choose you!' :P

Officially.

By the end of the battle you'll have many multiple bunnies then. :P

You are assuming only the bunny gets hit with the grenade

I believe it is scheduled for release on Monday. And as far as I can remember Summoner is a bad name as the class covers any sort of "companion". I.e. Summoned outsider, Frankenstein type monster made from the corpses of other monsters, mechanical constructs, and anything else you can think of as an origin for your pet.

Actually, as the class came together.. the name Summoner made more and more sense. You will see on Monday.

Hmm... I'll have to wait... I liked the idea of being able customize the concept to whatever I deemed appropriate for my character. I.e. if he was the mad scientist type creating Frankenstein or whatever, rather than just summoning something up from the ether or another plane of existence.

I'm starting a new campaign monday night, so hopefully they're up earlier in the day.

Any chance you could say if the summoner just summons creatures ala the bestiary, or if there are unique creatures that they summon? Would eliminate any debate my players have on if they want to play it.

The classes will be up Monday morning. While I do not want to spoil anything yet, I do want to say that making the summoner deal outsiders as a focus opened up a lot of options for us. I am pretty sure you could spin it toward a doc Frankenstein theme if you wanted... but you see what I mean on Monday.

what does everyone or anyone read this as? I hope it does not mean you have to summon outsiders. I don't like Devils, and junk...I want a big earth golemn or something like that as my summoned friend!

Big earth golem type things can be outsiders, of course...

The class is VERY customizable. I'm pretty sure folks will be VERY pleased with what you'll be able to do with it. It's pretty nifty!

Let's just say that I have a bunch of weird monster minis that up until now I would look at and say, "when am I ever going to use this miniature in a game?"

Now I say, "oh, they're summoner pets."

You mean eidolons?

"Pet" is a generic term, but yes. (Summoners and druids are "pet classes," frex.)

I'm looking forward to the Witch most as I never found a version in 3.x that I liked though Green Ronin's was close.

I'm with you. I am looking forward to the Witch. Though the Inquisitor sounds fascinating

You notice they are not dropping any Witch hints.....life is so cruel.

Yeah really... I'm really looking forward to finding that "just right" class to bring my old PC-Rhiannon Le'Fey and NPC-Annalee to life again...

Well... here's one. Witches have a "cackle" ability. (Sits back and waits to see how that tidbit can be misinterpreted.)

Does it allow a save?

Cackle? Mmm...that is kind of cool. I really want to know what that actually does.

That sounds strangely cartoonish, Paizo have yet to let me down, but you are seriously provoking the misinterpret crowd with that!!

Endorphins!

Well while we were chatting the other day James pointedly didn't deny that witches get an extra nipple. That's almost a confirmation.

Just what would be the bonuses be for an extra nipple?

lactation as a swift action? :oP

Like we fall for that, everybody knows about the witch's cackle leak (for those not informed: there is a list of cackles, similar to schools of magic and a witch decides which cackle to adhere to. Different cackles have different ramifications speccing the witch more towards debuffing gish or more towards multi-familiar master)

Those not informed? This stuff has been all over the net for the last month! I'm personally stuck between the "maniacal old hag" and "leering supervillan" cackles. They've each got such great buffs.

I hope one has to be evil to cackle, or at least neutral.

(in his best whiny homer impression) Monday? but i want it now! ;-)

Monday? I fail to see that!

(does that only work if I'm an early teenage girl? Where is that Shuriken kid when you need her?)

So summoners get a "make your own monster" kit where they conjure raw... stuff from Beyond (Cerulean Void powered, probably) and assemble their critter piecemeal.

And witches cackle when they burn? Does that mean we'll get an early inquisitor sneak peak?

Let me just say that the more Granny Weatherwax the witch has, the better. Is there a headology specialisation? Borrowing? Fading into the foreground? First sight?

And while it's not a summoning chant, I support the traditional "centre-finger-extended" banishing gesture, and the words of dismissal "run along".

As for summoning, "come here" only works if you're an undead ninja on a personal vendetta, so I'll have to come up with something better. "Into the light I command thee" works, of course. A more modern "I want to make a reservation for a Type VI Extradimensional, please" might work for some people, and "heere kitty kitty kitty" can work if you're calling a hellcat.

But please no elemental combos where 5 summoners get some humanoid freak. "Earth! Fire! Water! Air! Heart!"

Ia! Ia! Cthulhu Fhtagn!

Hm .... Summoner's sounding interesting. And it's a good idea releasing it on Monday -- should perk everyone up when they're feeling low about going back to work! ;)
