Paizo at GenconOz 2009

Pathfinder Society

Scarab Sages 1/5

It is official.

Paizo's Jason Bulmahn will be at the event in Brisbane!

Just over a month to go. I just got my core book today and will read it over the weekend. Need to make a character up for my 36 hour gaming experience!

Liberty's Edge

Any chance you can delet your post. I know the organisers and the man himself were hoping to keep it secret.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry I didn't realise this was now public knowlege, last time I spoke to Ian it was all on the hush hush, but now he has told me let the world know. So yes, woohoo Jason will be here for GenConOz and apparently he'll even have bells on. I for one cannot wait to meet the man himself.

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Thanks, I had been holding my breath for the last month over this news.

My good friend and fellow gamer, Deluge, also coming to GenConOz to help me GM Pathfinder Society, had asked me some time ago "you should ask the Paizo guys to attend GenConOz"

"Naah" I replied "they've already stated on the messageboards they have their hands full launching Pathfinder RPG, the Bestiary as well as PaizoCon and GenConIndy all on top keeping their regular monthly publishing schedule on track".

So Deluge attended GenConIndy to ask the Paizo guys himself, not realising I already knew, but sworn to secrecy. I fully expect my character to die in the next game Deluge runs.

I was a good little boy mate...

Ian was the one who pointed out to me that it was on twitter. :)

Twitter... Grrr, thankfully something I have not yet succummbed to.

Liberty's Edge

F*ck, now I have to try to find some way to get there.

Paizo Employee Director of Game Design

Ah HA!

I had looked for a thread where this had already leaked, but could not find it due to our search function still being down.

Anyway...

Yes, I will be attending GenCon OZ 2009. I am still working out my schedule for the show, but you can rest assured that as soon as I know, you will.

Looking forward to every aspect of this trip... except for the flight.

Yeah, the flight's gonna suck, but I'm sure you'll enjoy GenCon and Australia in general - have you been here before?

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Gidday mate!

Look at it this way, you gain a day when you cross the International Dateline, so an extra day of Aussie awesomeness! You lose that day when you cross back, so a day less work when you get home :-)

So glad you could make it Jason.

I'm hoping you'll volunteer to run the conversion seminar/workshop, because I couldn't think of a more qualified person (and I'd have to run it myself otherwise, gak!) Watch that session sell-out now!

I came down in 2003 for Spring Revel in Sydney. Fortunately, this flight is not quite as long. Only 13 hours from LA. It would not be so bad if I was not damnably tall.

Actually, you have it backwards. I lose a day when I come down but I arrive before I left on my way back.

I am still working out my schedule, but I would suspect that I will have something to do with the conversion seminar.

Here's an idea. Auction off spots in a PFS module that you'll DM. All procedes go to charity. Hell I'd bid big.

Look foward to meeting you.

Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player's Guide Classes

That covers four of the six classes in the book. I am planning on releasing information about the other two next month, at a seminar taking place at Gen Con Australia, in Brisbane.

Of course you're correct, what was I thinking? Though you can experience the New Year before anyone else (except those Kiwi-folk and a few islanders).

It's only 12 months away, we waited 24 months for the core rulebook. In any case, we still have the Bestiary, Gamemastery Guide, Bestiary II, and an open playtest of the 6 new classes to look forward to in the lead-up to the new book. Not to mention this weekend will be my first game of Pathfinder RPG core, I'm sure it'll take a while before we've explored all the shiny new options of the 11 core classes. I think they're pacing things out just fine :-)

Spoiler:
GenConOz attendees will need to be ready to scoop details of the new classes to the messageboards - the eyes of the gaming world will be on us!

Sorry if I did bad!

The link was up at the GenconOz twitter page... here.

First dated the 11/08/09.

Scarab Sages 1/5

I booked myself in for non stop PFS adverture!

I will get there later on Thursday, probably 5:30pm before I get in. Some of us have to work for a living. :P

I plan on bring my Jason Bulmahn books for signing. :)

Did I mention on of my fav 3.5 supplement books was Dungeonscape.

Sovereign Court

Crikey & Excellent! I am thinking that this years Gencon Oz will be a real treat! Looking forward to meeting you; Jason and any other Paizo crew that may tag along:), somewhere, sometime at the con. Looks like we are all in for a real hoot, sans the well acknowledged and fantastic US beer;)

Cheers

Oh, I think we can have a real hoot with the well-acknowledge and fantastic Australian beers... I enjoyed a good number of them last time I was down.

There are a few local brewers and micro brewers in Brisbane.

The biggest brand of beer in Queensland is XXXX (pronounced 4 'x'). Most common version is bitter ale for full strenght and lager for the mid strength gold.

Its called XXXX because you cant write the word it tastes like in polite company.

James Squire's is what he needs to drink. Please don't poison Jason with that muck you dredge up from the bottom of the Brisbane River.

LOL

I did say biggest brand... not best. :)

Liberty's Edge 4/5

I like Coopers Pale Ale. A lot of places here in the US don't carry it.

Mike

Congratulations and best wishes to you all in GenConOz. :)

I second that. Have a great time at GenconOz guys, I left my planning far too late for this year, but now that Society is playable online.. I hope to get in a few games.

Liberty's Edge

Looking forward to GenConOz... my friend and I are coming up from NSW, and we've booked into quite a few PFS games. Our first PFS experience in fact!

Anyone else going to the Pathfinder seminar on Thursday afternoon? I thought I'd go if only to socialise a little with other PFRPG folks :)

Welcome up. The more the merrier.

And heck yes I'll be there for that seminar. I believe Jason will actually be heading that one up him self so it should be amazing. Look foward to meeting you.

Onya Masika!

I'll be wearing a different faction t-shirt each day of the event. Would be great to see others wearing theirs too.

It's a great way to recognise other Pathfinder RPG players at the Con and introduce yourselves.

I'm hoping there will be some for sale at the con. I don't have one and it's probly too lateto order one now and get it before the con. Plus I still don't know what faction I am playing for, depends on what character I decise to take. Gnome Paladin, Halfling Sorcerer or Human Cleric of Pharasma????? Why am I so bad at descisions????

Simple solution, bring all three of your characters, and buy all five faction t-shirts. That way, you don't have to decide until the day.

In other news ...

... although it's a bit late getting it up, as most of you are already wise to what's going on, I've just created a Pathfinder Society Event page for GenConOz Brisbane 2009.

Gee, I'd better do the same for Unicon Melbourne 2009 and Arcanacon Melbourne 2010!

Scarab Sages 1/5

Awesome DarkWhite. Thanks for the page.

I have the Osirion shirt only but I will pull on my undefeated shirt too. :)

I am not sure what is happening with the player registration table and the paizo booth/stall and the playing tables. I have not had an update from Ian for a while. I was planning in bring my work laptop (untested wireless application) and a correctly sized table cloth for the player rego table.

With the recent changes, can you bring us up to speed with the set up?

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Masika wrote:

I haven't heard any more than you have. I think Jason is working out his schedule. I'm sure he'll let us know if there are any changes/additions to the seminar/sessions, but it sounds like he'll be pretty busy at the product sales table ... all those autographs and book signings!

So DarkWhite, can I ask which T Shirts won't be making the cut as you don't have time to wear them all?

Quintrino wrote:

Hey Quintrino!

Are you making the pilgrimage to Brisbane next month?

I can't say for sure. I'm tempted to wear the Paizo Goblin t-shirt one day, which means potentially two faction t-shirts won't be worn by me to the games. However, Deluge just arrived home from GenConIndy with a faction t-shirt for both of his Society characters, so he could represent the factions I leave behind. Oh ... but that would imply that I'd have to wear Cheliax? Gak!

Spoiler:
No need to worry - I got you covered!
Scarab Sages 1/5

LOL

I was just finalising my shirt and it too big! It hangs off me. I thought I would go a size up to 4XL as previous gaming shirts have been small for size.

I might pick a smaller one up there as I want the one reroll per session!
