Folks, I have a problem. I hope I also have a solution, but to some extent that's up to you.

It looks to me as if Amael if missing in action, and while that is not at all an impossible thing to overcome, it is difficult.

Most of the plot lines in this game are associated with ex-players. I can twist it to some extent, but at some point, it's going to break. Rather than have that happen, I'd like to call a close on this particular game and restart. We've had a very good run of close on two years, but the permanent cast changes are hard to handle.

I want to stress here and now that you're all excellent players and it's a pleasure GMing for you - i.e. this is, honestly, my problem as a story-teller.

What I am proposing is that I start you off in something entirely different. If you'd like to stay in Faerun, I'm fine with that, as there is plenty to explore and do.

Rather than drop you all back to level 1, I'd like to start at level 5. You would be most welcome to keep your characters if you want, or completely rebuild them. If you don't want to carry on, I would completely understand - and can only apologise.

I would also like to offer detritus the opportunity to join in as he's been waiting patiently as the alternate for a long time now.

Can you let me know how you all feel about this? I'm reluctant to lose a great group, but I am also aware that I'm finding this increasingly difficult to run.

Can I at least burn down the gibit before we reboot?

I'm ok with a reboot BTW.

Yup :D

Rev,

I quite understand the dilemma. You've got a good core group, it's just not the same one it's been (at least two of us have also played different characters).

I'd be happy to reboot at level 5. Depending on what others want to do, I could keep a level-5 version of Urlag, play a different leader, or play someone else entirely.

To be perfectly honest, I don't see Urlag and Hobbes working together over any long-term, and as the newcomer of the two, I have no problem switching. Depends on what Cale wants to do.

For the rest, I'm not at all attached to Faerun, and would welcome Detritus.

I've been meaning to try a new character anyway. (My heart hasn't been into Hobbes lately) I would be glad to reboot to a new story. I was sick of the Spellplague anyway. (unless the new story is about the Spellplague as well, lol) I can have a new character ready within an hour.

Since the advent of 4E, FR is a brand new world. I am not completely attached to playing there. We can go Eberron or a general DnD world, just not Dark Sun or Ravenloft (I don't like those worlds).

And Detrius is more than welcome from me.

I'm fine with a reboot. I might stick with Kelgan, I might make a different character, who knows? Also, screw Faerun. I didn't like it that much in previous editions and 4e just gave it a (cool, admittedly) disease and blew up the only nation I really liked. Let's get some new horizons. (Also, they didn't put a full map in the Player's Guide. I just can't excuse that.)

Oh, and feel free to bring Detritus in.

I'd prefer general world to FR to Eberron. The last just never grabbed me.

But I have great faith in whatever Rev comes up with.

I'm happy to play a scaled-down Urlag if a leader is still needed (beyond Xabulba's .5 leader). He's already built. I've also got a dwarf cleric ready, if the hook isn't Urlag's style.

If someone else falls on the leader sword -- well, I have a melee striker version of Urlag I've been fiddling with, too.

Ideas are the easy part :-).

Let's see, I have a monk, a wizard, a druid, a sorcerer, a warlock (although I'm kind of saving him for the third time a certain DM shows up just so I can say I used the same exact character with nearly the same build in each of his three games), two bards, an avenger and Kelgan sitting around, ignoring the other characters I don't have an alias for. I think that I can fit something in, even if I don't use Kelgan.

Thanks guys :) I am open to play whatever you need me to play, it is shame about Amael I hope everything is ok.

I could be a cleric. The only time I did one of those was in a Epic level game and it was the Epic I didn't like, not the cleric. Let me fiddle with the concept and see what I can do.

If you do a cleric Kel dosn't have to multi-class anymore and can be a full ranger. Or maybe convert him to a rouge.

Sounding like a mostly new party.

Xabulba is looking at a striker.
Cale might be leaning leader.
Detritus is open.
Davi is open.
Amy hasn't posted yet, but currently has a striker who hasn't seen much play.

Does that sound right?

In a party of six, two healers is nice. At least one defender, of course. Controller is more optional.

Assuming Xabulba and Amy play strikers, I'll look at sticking with Urlag the warlord, then, with some rebuilding. Else, I'd call the second striker role, with a melee ranger.

Okay, I've got one, but I don't know how good he is. I went with a Luck theme so we can use Tymora or Avandra. I got the Skill power feat, so he can use healing word twice/encounter, cure light wounds (daily), and faith healing(daily). And Sacred Flame grants temp hp. We should be pretty healing strong. He's going to be pretty reckless, trusting in his goddess to make it all work out. Maybe not reckless, but eager to test his luck by doing dangerous tasks. And he's looking for some brave people to help him do so.

Rev, I wouldn't mind a dungeon crawl for a change.

This is looking good to me.

We'll stick with generic D&D world I think. I'll start you up an all new discussion thread later this morning, so don't go nuts with the building disucssion on this one.

Hopefully Amy will want to stay in some form or other and I'll hold onto alternate slots for detritus's brother and Amael.

I'll see what I can come up with.

Do not even mention that bloody horrible map of Faerun to me. I have spent more hours than I want to remember trying to find places on that thing. It's nice as a piece of art, but for a GM it is worse than useless.

Human

New thread here.

I'm definately in!
