The omniportal awakens as Devlyn and Allura return to the Oasis. They are probably not expecting the place to be as active as it is right now...

She looks around, alarmed. "Guys, what's going on?"

"Did something happen with that freak storm last night?" he asks as he takes in the scene around him.

"Storm? I was not being see any storm. Mirathan? Was there being a storm while we were being gone?"
"There was being some fight. The undead army was being invade the place of wind, but then they was being gone somewhere else. We is not being know where. Kaelar is take Aidan somewhere for train. They is being back soon, I is hoping. And we is talk strategy while we is wait."

"There was some weird storm over the Bazaar last night - the locals said it was heralding some major battle elsewhere..."

"Alright - where are LJ and Jack Hammer? Are they still at the Place of Wind? Or Alaina and the Tree Emperor?"

I just realized how out of the look these two are - assume lots of catch up dialogue off-screen methinks... ;)

The Dalesman wrote:

"I is not knowing. None of them were being at the place of wind while we was being fight."

I think PlantJack may be the only one who is likely to be able to tell them the full story. Well, most of the relevant bits anyways. All the others who know are busy mustering armies right now.

Nimora Orlbereth wrote:

"Okay - that can't be good..."

"Well then it sounds like we need to go to the Grove the Sanctum and the Place of Winds to find out where everybody is. And I'm going to guess that the communication crystals didn't get to any of them yet either since they haven't been here in days."

"Where to go first though?"

"From what Nimora said, it seems unlikely that they would be at the place of the winds. So either the Grove or the Sanctum, I think."

Allura wrote:

"I guess we'll try the Grove first, then the Sanctum. Nimora, if anyone comes here with news, or anything else happens that we need to be here for, use the communication crystal to reach us."

Devlyn and Allura then gear up and take the Omniportal to the Grove of Ancients.

Mirathan gathers his gear, and heads to the omniportal. Using the crystal, or talking aloud, he announces...

The battle will be on land but I will not let the landwalkers carry this burden alone. I head to the RPG thread to do battle with death. Do not overfeed Ethelbert.

With that, he departs.

"Hey! Be waiting for me!" Nimora calls, rushing after him.

"Everyone is always trying to be rush off without me.

That's what the net was for, remember? ;P

A procession of bears wander into the Oasis, carrying the bodies of Nimora and Mirathan. They place them next to the pool, and bow their shaggy heads.

Sirone would probably be able to bring them back, if their souls are free to do so and they wish it.

Feeble idea, I know, but it's all I've got at the moment... :(

Esmerelda sighs, appearing next to them.

"I could possibly bring them back. Much of my energy has been spent this day. It would be difficult, more so since Mirathan has already died."
You guys can decide whether it will work.

It would work for Nimora. She's quite young for an elf and not ready to be done living. Whether it will work for Mirathan is up to E7

I was mainly asking whether you guys would mind.

*confused* I thought that was how I took it. And how I answered.

I know, I was just clearing it up for E7.

Different idea.

2 Sea elves request entry to the Oasis. They are aware of Mirathan's death, and request his remains. 6 others await outside.

*The Bard, as well as Oroth and Aidan, strides through the omniportal. Noticing the waiting sea elves, Kaelar walks over.*

"Hello noble sea elves, may I ask why you are so far inland? And in a desert no less!"

We come to bear Mirathan home.

"To give him a 'burial at sea' so to speak? I cannot speak for others, but I will suggest you at least try to raise him from the dead. He was a good elf."

That is up to our King.

May we have his remains?

Meanwhile, out amongst the sand dunes on patrol, Auruns starts to come across occasional strange 'gems' which glimmer like stars, and he starts to collect them in a satchel.

(Assuming this would not be a problem with Lynora-Jill.)

Hey, they're there for the collecting. Eventually Azuri'ith and Arielle will come looking for them. But it's not unreasonable for others to have found some of them first.

"If no one objects, I can't see why you couldn't."

*Kaelar moves aside so the elves can collect Mirathan.*
"Tell your King the Champion of Water sends his greetings and well wishes."

Thank you. We shall convey your message.

The elves gather up Mirathan's body and convey it thru the portal to the open sea.

Esmerelda opens her eyes.

"This ain't easy. It's hard to concentrate on his greater sending and the resurrection. Almost...there!"
Life is brought to Nimora's corpse. Esmerelda sighs with satisfaction.
"That's better."

Nimora gasps as she is returned from the dead. At first she is uncertain where she is. The last thing she remembered was fighting the Steel Tsar.
"Mirathan!" She sits up, looking around frantically for the other elf.

"He's dead. I tried to bring him back, but his family intervened." Esmerelda looks very cross.

The glint of shell is seen near the portal to the sea realm. It is a scrollcase, apparently dropped by the elves.

Spoiler:
Wanted! Dead or Alive!

Mirathan the Third, Watcher of the East Stone, for abandoning his post and endangering the Realm.

Warning: Subject is rated Expert at the trident, and Master at the crossbow, but is prone to recklessness. Use extreme caution!

Reward - 1000 gold coins

Signed,

Regent Sertil Aernas Hestle

on behalf of King Mirathan the Second

"Thank you, Esmerelda. I am grateful for your kindness."
Dying and coming back to life seems to have, at least temporarily, jarred her from her usual accent. She glances sadly into the pool, thinking that it would be a very lonely place now. She sees a glint at the bottom.
"Excuse me," she says diving down to see what it is.

She picks up the shell and reads it. She quickly swims back up to the surface.
"Who did you say took Mirathan's body?" she sounds very upset.

Ethelbert emerges from the portal, swimming to Nimora and looking at her with big octopus eyes

"Ethelbert! I is maybe needing your help soon. There is being something very very wrong. Would you be coming with me, or would you rather be staying at the Oasis to guard?"

She turns back to Esmerelda. "You was saying that Mirathan's *family* inervened? Oh, this is being very bad."

As her connection to life increases, her accent slowly begins to return to its normal state.

Ethelbert swims over to Nimora and puts one tentacle on her arm. He burbles plianively

For anyone venturing out of the portal into the sea realm:

Spoiler:
An anti-magic field has been put in place just outside, the source well-hidden and extended for two days. No problem for those breathing water normally, except that the area has been also laid with chum. Some very hungry sharks have taken up residence. ;)

Nimora hands the scroll over to Kaelar, or leaves it for him if he isn't here now.
"You can be seeing for yourself. This is being very, very bad. I is going after them."
She grabs her trident and force web and dives back into the water.

Nimora swims through the portal to the sea. If Ethelbert is coming with her she will wait for him to catch up, as well as any others that are tagging along.

Ethelbert will tag along, brandishing his daggers of Megalodon teeth.

Spoiler:

I almost feel sorry for the sharks :) Well, I would if they weren't trying to eat us. Silly sharks.

Nimora Orlbereth wrote:
** spoiler omitted **

Spoiler:
But they're Dire sharks with laser beams! Nah, just regular ones.

As they swim through the portal, Nimora notices that her net has become a lot less shiny. She looks around at the cloudy water and notices an unnatural amount of fish parts floating around. She picks up a shell and quickly scratches out "No be follow. Not be safe for you" and throws it back through the portal. She gives a nod to Ethelbert and the two swim forward.

Though Nimora and Ethelbert don't swim like fish in distress, the sharks are frenzied and attack.

Spoiler:
Feel free to wage a battle with them. They are meant to be disposable, and to take advantage of any airbreather that fell into the trap.

Ethelbert uses his eight daggers to good effect as the sharks close. He guts several before the others learn not to get too close. His beak snaps irritably

Nimora grins as the sharks attack. Now this was a foe she was prepared to deal with, and finally on her own turf. Even without the magical boosts to her weapons she could handle this. She swam at the sharks, a whirl of death as she struck down one after another of them. When no more sharks were forthcoming she signaled to Ethelbert to follow her as she swam further on.

Ethelbert the Octopus wrote:

Spoiler:
Sharks are not too swift. More will be drawn to the increased blood, making it even more dangerous for anyone following, but you can get out of the area before they do.
