Pavo Alazario |
Pavo looks up at Marra as she places her hand on the sorcerer's shoulder. Tears are readily visible at the corners of his eyes th those that look at him. The scene is certainly a strange one, a fully grown man, being consoled by someone so young.
Snapping out of his daze, he takes his cloak, and wraps it around his sisters dead form. Then carrying her body, he will meet up with the rest of the group as Sorin goes about looking for items of worth. "Please make this quick, I don't want to be here any longer than we need to be." Pavo finally says as he kicks Lamm's dead body when he passes by it.
Marrala the Lost |
Marra leaves Pavo and returns to Gaedren's corpse, dragging him to the dock. She looks at Calliope's razor, then fold it up and returns it to her belt. She stares down at the helpless Gaedren, then just pushes him into the water...consciously not mutilating him...she removes her mask and drops it in the water with Gaedren...
"Torture is not needed...Justice is done."
remembering a line from Acts of Iomedae "No longer lost, I am now reborn..."
She turns away from the water before it churns with blood as the Jigsaw takes a chunk out of the sinking Gaedren...
She returns to her companions, there is visibly less weight on her shoulders, the hate and anger gone from her face. She seems more at peace now.
Marra "The Phoenix" Warblade |
"What has been done here tonight is a strike at the cowardly! An assault against the corruption of Korvosa. We have delivered the young ones from the wolf named Lamm..."
"I feel I have ascended past my childhood finally, I will take a new name, Now call me, Marra Warblade...I am The Phoenix".
DM X |
As fury of the battle calms down, you look around Gaedren's room...
This foul-smelling room seems to be a combination
bedroom and study. A wooden bed with
a lumpy mattress stands against the east wall,
while a round table heaped with dirty plates, bread
crusts, stained goblets, fruit rinds, and scuttling
cockroaches sits nearby. At the foot of the bed sits a
large strongbox, a slighty rusted lock securing its
lid. A sagging dresser filled with moth-eaten
clothes well past their glory days is in one
corner—what appears to be a wooden
hatbox surrounded by a small cloud of
flies sits atop this dresser.
The footlocker was locked, but the keys were in on the bed, knocked loose during the battle. Each of these treasures is wrapped in cloth and tied shut with twine.
The treasures include a narrow teak cigar case
inlaid with tiny bits of jade and nearly full of cigars, a 2-pound gold
ingot bearing the Cheliax coat of arms, a
miniature gold crown, a fist-sized scrimshaw
carving of a kraken with garnets for eyes,
a silver ring bearing the inscription “For
Emmah—the light in my nights,” a highly realistic and
highly scandalous ivory figurine of two entwined succubi, a masterwork shuriken, an adamantine arrowhead, an abalone-shell holy symbol of Shelyn , a tiny glass tube containing an oil, an obsidian wand, a crystalline vial with a silvery liquid, and
a bejeweled brooch with a broken clasp.
Even to an untrained eye, this brooch is obviously the
most valuable object in the entire collection. The circular
gold brooch depicts a pseudodragon and an imp coiled
around each other in an almost yin-yang pattern. The
pseudodragon’s eye is an amethyst, while the imp’s eye is
an emerald.
Zellara's Harrow deck is not in the Footlocker.
Marra "The Phoenix" Warblade |
Marra heads over to Sorin, "Did you find Zellara's harrow deck?"
Marra looks around, "Gaedren really slipped over the past few years, he was never this withdrawn before...and he didn't just slaughter the Lambs in our time...not like this..."
"I wonder if the children are still above..."
Pavo Alazario |
Pavo never wanders far from his dead sister's corpse as he helps in searching the room. However, his search seems half-hearted at best, for though it seems that a weight has been lifted from Marra's shoulder's, it seems that the world has been placed on Pavo's. Though he hears the rioting, he pays it no mind as he goes through his inner turmoil.

School: conjuration (healing)
Level: cleric 5
Casting
Casting Time: 1 minute
Components: V, S, M, DF (diamond worth 5,000 gp)
Range: touch
Target: dead creature touched
Duration: instantaneous
Saving Throw: none, see text
Spell Resistance: yes (harmless)
You restore life to a deceased creature. You can raise a creature that has been dead for no longer than 1 day per caster level. In addition, the subject’s soul must be free and willing to return. If the subject’s soul is not willing to return, the spell does not work; therefore, a subject that wants to return receives no saving throw.
Coming back from the dead is an ordeal. The subject of the spell gains two permanent negative levels when it is raised, just as if it had been hit by an energy-draining creature. If the subject is 1st level, it takes 2 points of Constitution drain instead (if this would reduce its
Con to 0 or less, it can’t be raised). A character who died with spells prepared has a 50% chance of losing any given spell upon being raised.
A spellcasting creature that doesn’t prepare spells (such as a sorcerer) has a 50% chance of losing any given unused spell slot as if it had been used to cast a spell.
A raised creature has a number of hit points equal to its current Hit
Dice. Any ability scores damaged to 0 are raised to 1. Normal poison and normal disease are cured in the process of raising the subject, but magical diseases and curses are not undone. While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole. Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life. None of the dead creature’s equipment or possessions are affected in any way by this spell.
A creature who has been turned into an undead creature or killed by a death effect can’t be raised by this spell. Constructs, elementals, outsiders, and undead creatures can’t be raised. The spell cannot bring back a creature that has died of old age.
Now, does that mean it has to be in one piece? or just all the parts have to be accounted for? She might be missing an arm, but crocs tend to swallow smaller thing whole...the death roll sometimes removes an arm or leg as it kills it.
Dorran Kelvar |
Dorran looks down at the corpse of Pavo's sister and back to the young magic user with a sense of sorrow. He mutters "No one should have to go through this" Dorran then offers the use of his cloak as a makeshift stretcher to carry the young one's body back. Hearing the commotion outside in the city Dorran offers to take point and help lead the group through the the city
Pavo Alazario |
Pavo nods his head in thanks to the party's kind words, but after a few moments, simply says, "No, her death in my penance for not finding her in time. Life is like time, not so easily reset after it's time has past. Besides, my family are but minor nobles, not possessing the money needed for such a costly spell. Once we find what we need, let's get out of here. We must make sure that the children are safe, and i must return my sister to her parent's estate." Once the search is complete, Pavo takes the bundled corpse of his sister in his arms and follows Dorran as he leads the back to the street.

Just got back from Paizocon so don't feel to bad :)

Perception for traps: 24
DM X |
can't throw that stuff in the footlocker, since Clandru is the only one upstairs currently, and that stuff is up there...
Sorin looks in the box and is startled causing him to lose his grip on the hatbox...Zellara's severed head comes rolling out, poorly preserved and decorated with unsightly makeup in a crude attempt to give her sagging
flesh the semblance of life. Several maggots are knocked loose when it hits the ground, she's been dead longer than when you met her...
A small box that was under the stump of her neck hits the ground, pops open and harrow cards scatter across the floor. Hand-painted images decorate this Harrow deck, the frames gilt in silver so that under lighting they sparkle and flash. Despite the worn condition of the card backs, the images on the faces are so vibrant they seem to move when
viewed out of the corner of the eye.
DM X |
As Sorin begins to pick up the cards, Zellara appears on the bed...
"Thank you my friends...you have recovered my Harrow deck, Gaedren and I unfortunately cross paths several weeks ago and I ended up in this state...now my spirit resides in my Harrow Deck."
"I know destiny has touched all of you, I have seen it in the cards...my death was part of that destiny, for it made me seek out my killer's location, and in turn I found you."
"You may use my house during the turmoil that has gripped the city. Decide what to do next."
"Do you have any questions for me?"
Dorran Kelvar |
Dorran eyes widen a bit at the form of the woman who started them on this quest so to speak. His military training refusing to show more emotion than a simple wide eye look. The only question Dorran asks "Whats going on in the city? Why is everything in tumoil?" He pauses for but a moment and adds more to himself than anyone else "I hope my squad wasnt called in to action. If so then we need to move and I need to join my brothers in arms."
Pavo Alazario |
Hearing Marra's shout, Pavo turns from his search to see Zellara's Ghost materialize from no where. His sadness seems to fade for a second as he exclaims,"Amazing!! An otherworldly manifestation attached to a worldy object of obvious value to the spirit."
Zellara's Ghost |
Zellara turns toward Pavo
"I'm less a ghost and more of a projection Unicorn, I can also project into my surroundings, when you were in my house, it looked as if the house were lived in, but when you return there, it will not look that way today..."
it appears that Zellara thinks of you as the cards she sent you, as she called Pavo, Unicorn.

Clandru:
apparent that something terrible has happened. Korvosa
is in flames. Smoke rises on the horizon. The frantic clang
of alarm bells sing out in harmony with a multifarious
cacophony of screams, the clash of steel on steel, moans,
and even the periodic detonation of arcane power.
Amid the chaos, the voice of a Korvosan herald cuts through
the din: “The king is dead! Long live the queen!” only to
be shouted down by ragged cries of “Hang the queen!” and
“The usurper whore must die!”
