Sorin, Dorran, Marra, and Pavo make their way back upstairs, using the pulley system to hoist the chest back up through the hole and slowly climbing up into the main area once more. Pavo decides to take his sister's body around the side in the dinghy that is tied to the end of the dock. The Orange glow off the water is obvious now, portions of the city are on fire. Numerous shouts echo throughout Korvosa as well..."The King is Dead, Long Live the Queen" followed by "Kill the Usurper, kill the murderous Queen" and sounds of battle. You all rejoin Clandru who is staring out one of the doors of the Fishery, the turmoil in his face is apparent, the city is in chaos...
The City is on the Edge of Anarchy, this makes the victory of Gaedren Lamm seem small. Yet you know that this victory has healed many wounds...
As you're standing there watching the chaos farther in the city, two of the children you rescued, run up holding torches, and hurl them into the fishery...the rotted timber catches ablaze quickly...and you're forced into the street...
where to now?
Dorran Kelvar |
" I will have to meet up with you later. I need to find my squad and report in. I will also be able to find out any information as to what happened. Should the house not still be standing head to the barracks and tell them I told you to go there for safety. I shall join you all as asoon as I can." With that Dorran runs off into the city to find his commanding officer
DM X |
Dorran:
Dorran Kelvar |
Dorran runs in between people and house not making much headway. For every few steps the ranger takes he is pushed back even more. Everywhere he looks people are running and trampeling over each other, Dorran can see in the skies the sable company doing what they could to restore order. "This is insane. It will be certain death to continue on foot with out some back up." With that Dorran changes direction and begins to head back to meet with his companions
Clandru KRUPTER |
Cladru have seemed troubled by the situation . Having the children fire the place seems to snap him of his indecision
"Right , No Choice , then "
With this he turns to Gaedren and coup-de-grace him
#we need to find a place more quiet than this one . Hopefully , the peolpe will come to their senses in a few hours "
DM X |
The heat from the fire in the building causes you to take a few steps away from the structure. The fire also clears the crowd away from this particular area, as they route down other streets...Griffon Riders from The Sable Company occasionally buzz past this location.
The riots continue...you hear the sounds of heavy plate marching, You suspect Hellknights are one street over, you think it might be better if you're not seen by them.
Marra "The Phoenix" Warblade |
"I have a plan, let's move to Zellara's house for now, we'll regroup and decide what to do from there."
Dorran:
"This burning building and us standing outside the flaming structure while Hellknights are 1 street over make us look like we started it, and since there are bodies inside, I don't think that we want to get locked up and interrogated..."
Dorran Kelvar |
thx for reminding me =P and sorry for the lack of posting.... been real busy with work =( sometimes just gets in the way of whats important
"Marra well said" Dorran response. As the grou moves to meet back to the house Dorran makes a mention of a brooch found though at the moment, to dig it out of his pouch would be wasted time the moment they get a break he will show it to the group to see what their thoughts on it are
Pavo Alazario |
Though still in somewhat of a funk, Pavo seems more coherent than before as he gazes out on the city in chaos. Here I am, feeling sorry for myself as my home is tearing itself apart. As they move through the city, back to Zellara's place, he can still feel the wait of his sister's dead body and the concern that Alistar is radiating from nearby. Filing away everything that he sees and hears in the chaos, Pavo does his best to keep his sisters corpse covered as they head for the relative safety of Zellara's house.
Sorry, for the lack of posting, just made it back from vacation, but posting rate should be normal now.
DM X |
As you're getting ready to leave the area around the building, you see a Hellknight decked out in their distinctive black Full Plate. He points at you, then turns away, as a throng of townsfolk impact into them...time to move! You begin making your way to Zellara's house. The city is in a bad way, you can see multiple fires burning throughout the city. The sound of combat is everywhere, luckily the area along the docks seems relatively calm, until you get near Zellara's home...then you come across...
the edge of a riot where a mob of six men wielding shovels, chair-legs, and lengths of iron pipe surround a beardless young nobleman. One of the laborers, a fat bald man with greasy muttonchops framing his rotund face, jeers and addresses the young man in a booming voice.
“Bet’cha never worked an honest day’s wage in your life, eh, Queen’s
Man? M’brother had his arm crushed by a barrel on the docks when he was younger than you. Never raised a mug of ale with that wrist again. Wanna know what it feels like?”
The young nobleman appears to be around 14-15 years old.
Pavo Alazario |
Pavo, the pressure from the riots and his own sadness overwhelming him still, decides to do what he can for the poor noble. Lying his sister's corpse gingerly on the ground, he steps forward and says, "What, by Abadar's weighted scale, is going on here! Grown men cornering and threatening a lone person!? What has happened to the city that I have called home my entire life? Granted, the King was a good man, and a good leader, but should his death truly be remembered in this way: with violence and chaos?"

DM X |
The leader turns toward Pavo while the others are still manhandling the youthful noble.
At Pavo's words, he casts his eyes downwards
"No sir, but, the King is dead, and well many believe Ileosa did it somehow" he stutters out. "Holg, Darian, let the boy go."
Nice roll Pavo.
The townsfolk's spirit is broken by the spirit of Pavo's words, they turn and disperse, seemingly heading to their respective homes.
The youth runs up to Pavo, and forces a pouch into his hand.
"Thank you, I'm Amin Jalento. Thank you again."
If you want to interject feel free to flashback.
He then tears off toward the Castle district, pausing as he reaches the building's edge then peers each way, takes off again and is out of sight...
Pavo gathers his sisters corpse and the rest of the group heads out again, the riot seems to be calming only slightly. This area seems to have died out quite a lot. You pass several more buildings and reach Zellara's residence. As you step inside, it appears nothing as it did when you were last here. The warmth is gone from the room; dust and cobwebs are clearly visible now and the place shows that it hasn't been lived in in at least 2 weeks. The wall hangings are gone, the furniture is broken, it's obvious that anything of value was taken days ago.
Pavo Alazario |
Interjected between the Men letting the noble go and the group dispersing
Not in the mood to accept the man's cop out, Pavo continues with, "Even it that were true, why take out your anger on this man? Is he the Queen? I think not. Like you, he is a victim in the recent events. Our King is dead and no one knows how to react. We have no proof that the Queen did indeed kill the King. All we have is gossip that fuels the fires for what you see around you. Korvosa is a gem that is on the verge of cracking, and if we attack those we think are to blame then we are only taking a hammer to an already fractured gem; the result, a city that completely falls apart." With his venting completed, Pavo will step back and simply wait for the crowd's response while keeping himself ready to react to the crowd's actions.
Upon arrival at Zellara's
Pavo slumps to the ground with his sister's body, kicking up dust as he does. He was utterly exhausted after the events of the day and it was evident in his features as well as in Alistar's movements as the monkey curled up in a ball close to his master and quickly fell asleep. Looking to the others, Pavo simply says "I think it better to sort through what we have found before deciding our next course of action. It will give us time to rest and figure out what to do. I don't know about you all, but this has been the most I have ever had to exert myself and even with all the chaos around us, I am no good exhausted."

FLASHBACK: "The Showdown" "You're right of course, glad ye stopped us from doing sometin' we might'n o' regretted later. By your leave, we'll be heading home now sir."
you can always do nonlethal dmg with your sneak attack also Sorin. Just Smash the back of his head with ur pommel. He'd crumple and look dead to the others...
DM X |
So you all arrive at Zellara's as I posted before (unless you really want to run off by yourself Clandru). You begin going through what is in the Chest, read Sorin's spoiler last page. Dorran mentions that the brooch is the queens, which was stolen from a jeweler. She's offering a reward for its return, but he Dorran doesn't remember how much
Sorry Dorran, just trying to kick start this adventure...
Sorin |
Sorin digs through the crest. "I am sure I can find some one to buy most of this jewelery and stuff. Anyone want anything for them selves? I will take the hand crossbow if no one else wants it. Then we should probably return the Queens brooch, might get a good chunk of change for it."
Know. Local for a fence or jeweler. 16+6 = 22
Pavo Alazario |
Helping in sorting through the equipment, Pavo says a short phrase in draconic, the language of magic, and the young sorcerer's eyes flare for but a moment before returning to their normal blue color. Passing his gaze over everything that they had taken from the Fishery, Pavo gets a sense of what is magical and what is not. Pavo will also sort through the pouch that Amin had forced into Pavo's hands to see what is inside.
Casting Detect Magic and scanning all the treasure from the Fishery. Appraise checks to be used on items that glow with magic first, if there is any, if not then they can be applied to non-magical items.

"I don't know if stashing it here would be a safe place...of course, since it's already destroyed looking, it might be fine."
"According to the laws of Korvosa, this building will become the cities, 2 years after the death of the owner."
"The rest of my stuff is at the inn, including my food...I'm famished."

or rather...

"I suppose going to the Castle now wouldn't really be the best thing to do...The city is in a shambles, Hellknights and Sable company everywhere..."
"If you're going to attempt to go now, I'll still go with you, you were given leave weren't you? Or were you supposed to be on duty currently?"
Pavo Alazario |
Figuring that it would be best for him to take it, Pavo stashes the wand of magic missile among his things as he listens to everyone's plans. As he files the unidentified potions away to be identified later, he says, "It seems everyone has a bit of business to attend to. Dorran and Clandru both feel it best to report in to their higher-ups, I must return to my home to see that my sister is given a proper burial and we have a jeweled brooch that needs to be returned to the Queen. As much as I would hate to say this, with all the rioting, I don't think I can get to my parent's home without running into a fair bit of trouble, same type of trouble that we would run into if we try to sell the valuables we have come across. If we want to limit the run-ins with the populace, or even worse, with the Hell Knights, then I say it's better to deliver the Queen's brooch. Then we might be able to return to sort out our things here once the rioting has calmed down a bit. This way, we can also meet the queen and see if the rumors we have been hearing about her are true or not."
Sorin |
Sorin stands up and starts putting their loot back in the chest. "Pavo when you have time you should have a look at the harrow deck to see what it does." Besides randomly talk to me in my head. Sorin finishes in his head.
"I am with you on returning the broach. I really don't have anyone to worry about. My employer has plenty of backup at her place so I think she will be fine."
Marra "The Phoenix" Warblade |
"Agreed, Dorran you said you need to get back to the Castle, looks like we're all gonna go see the Queen then, hope she's accepting visitors in this hour of strife"
"Pavo, your sister will be buried properly, does your family live near the castle?, perhaps we could go to your families estates on the way."
Pavo Alazario |
"Yes Marra, my parents live in the Heights but as I said before, with the Hell Knights about, I don't think we can afford to be caught on the streets, especially carrying a dead body, even if that body is of my own sister. No, I will leave the body here, this place is too run down to worry too much about looters. Clandru is right, we have bigger things to worry about for now, but as soon as the rioting is under control, I must return to see to my sister's burial." Pavo says with a sense of finality.
