Perception active check of 24. Is the creature aware of us? If not, Elias will try to sneak up on him.

Spoiler:
Yes. He's the one who shot the lightning in the middle of you.

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

Ok, wasn't sure if he was just flailing with gay abandon, heedless of us. Righto....

"You there! Cease! We are petitioners to the court of the River King!" Elias calls.

Map forthcoming later today. Go ahead and roll initiative

Init 1d20+6=10

"Stand fast! Stand ready!"

Female human Rogue 5

Init (1d20+5=21)

"Who or what is it this time?"

Male Human Fighter 5 (Great Weapon Fighter)

1d20+4=12

With a growl, Bren unleashes his great black axe.

Another fight? I thought elves were supposed to be about peace, love and unicorns!

F Half Elf Bard 4

Initiative (1d20+3=14)

Catriana readies her wand, looking for a target.

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

Initiative 19.

"A gnome-like creature is firing the lightning at us."

Female human Rogue 5

"Yippee." Eglantine reaches for her dagger. "Can you talk to him or should I just go for the jugular - I don't know what's polite any more."

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Apologies, folks, for not getting this started yesterday -- I might be able to today, but will be only minimally online Wed. & Thurs, so it might not make much difference. I'll do my best.

Male Human Wizard / 5

Map at the usual link. Green are trees, brown is enormous fallen log. Please place yourselves south and east of the gray square (the gray isn't anything, just a marker for this purpose).

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

M13 and N13 for Elias and Scathach.

Female human Rogue 5

O10 for Eglantine.

Others placed. Init for surprise round:
Elias
nr

Elias, go with a single action.

Spoiler:
Doesn't look like he's planning to cease

F Half Elf Bard 4

I'll be in europe for the next week and a half and I'm not sure about how often I'd be able to connect. If necessary please DMPC me.

Ok, thanks for the alert.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Elias and his cat advance on the gnome-like creature, even as he spends another bolt of lightning in Elias's general direction. The storm is worsening.

Regular round:
Eglantine
Elias
Cyrus
nr
Catriana
Bren
Yomi

Eglantine is up. Note that it is dark. The creature illuminates himself with his lightning, but of course it doesn't last long enough to target him. Elias is the only one who has had a clear view. Due to the weather, even a sunrod or equivalent will only provide low-light beyond 2 squares.

Female human Rogue 5

Eglantine moves towards the intermittently visble being and shakes her head.

"I get grouchy if I can't see what I'm doing."

Her dagger lashes out instinctively.

"Sorry Elias, I'm not sure being polite is getting through to him."

Move to I4
Riposte Strike (if he attacks before the end of Eggers' next turn, she can try again at +6) (1d20+10=22, 1d4+4=5)

Spoiler:

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Eglantine feels sure she would have hit the creature, but just as she lunges with her dagger, she stumbles on a branch sticking out from the log.

Eglantine:

Spoiler:
This was not natural

Also, Elias took 3hp from the missed lightning. Elias is up.

Female human Rogue 5

"That shouldn't have missed," snaps Eglantine irritably as she rubs her sore shins and glares at their opponent.

"Watch out. The feywild has even more fun surprises for us."

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Elias and Scathach continue to advance, Elias lightly climbing onto the fallen log. Then, with a command from the elf, the two of them move in for the attack. Just as they are about to launch their coordinated attack, Scathach's front paw goes through a hole in the rotted wood, spoiling the plan.

Minor: Hunter's Quarry. Move. Attack: Enclose the Prey. Attack roll (incl. flank) 22

Elias:

Spoiler:
The bad luck isn't natural. However, you see on the ground on the far side of the log (G2) an eladrin woman who seems to be slumped unconscious.

Cyrus
nr
Catriana
Bren
Yomi
Eglantine
Elias

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

Sorry, no internet at new home yet.

Elias notes the presence of the unconscious woman with some concern.

"All of you, listen! There is a woman here, possibly wounded!" he calls to his friends.

Male Human Wizard / 5

Eyebite vs nr, 1d20+4=13 vs nr Will, 1d6+4=7 psychic damage and I am invisible to the target until the start of my next turn. Remain at O12.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Cyrus's attack misses; the fey seems not even to have noticed it. "Oh, you saw our dear eladrin, did you?" The red creature laughs and lashes out with his claws at Elias and Scathach, scoring deep gouges in both. Even as he laughs maniacally, the area around him fills with pelting hail. He then vanishes. Elias swings at the empty air, but to no avail.

Crit against Elias with claw: -15hp; hit against Scathach with claw: -11hp; hit against Scathach and Eglantine with hail -- they are considered in difficult terrain (save ends) Note that the log is already difficult terrain.

Elias:

Spoiler:
You heard him move to H5 invisibly, but missed the OA, sorry

Female human Rogue 5

"I really don't like his sense of humour."

Female human Rogue 5

Advance warning. I'm going to be visiting a friend from Weds-Fri and may well not get to post frequently. She does have a computer however, so you may not notice much difference.

M Cat 4

Bloodied!

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Sorry, just realized I forgot to update the initiative chart. Fortunately, I have permission to run Catriana.

Catriana advances cautiously, trying to detect your foe, but the driving rain makes it difficult. She is nonetheless prepared to attack when an opportunity presents itself.

Move, active perception, ready (I'll hope badslacker can specify the action before it comes up)

Bren
Yomi

Eglantine - in difficult terrain (se)
Elias / Scathach - bloodied, in difficult terrain (se)
Cyrus
nr - unknown
Catriana - readied attack

Male Human Fighter 5 (Great Weapon Fighter)
Elias wrote:

Bren runs towards Elias, trying to see the woman.

Move: run to G5, using the two extra squares from running to get into the one square of difficult terrain.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Even as Bren runs toward the fallen tree, he draws up short when he realizes something, likely the gnome creature, is immediately in front of him.

Something invisible is in H6; as far as I'm concerned Bren hasn't run yet, as he's only moved 4. Bren has a standard and a minor left.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

At the last moment, Bren pulls up and swings his axe at the empty air, connecting with only empty air.

Sorry, rolled a 2.

Yomi
Eglantine - in difficult terrain (se)

Elias - healthy / Scathach - bloodied, in difficult terrain (se)
Cyrus
nr - unknown
Catriana - readied attack
Bren

F Half Elf Bard 4

I'll wait to see whatever he does. If I don't respond after a few hours, please run Catriana.

Female human Rogue 5

Is it reasonable to assume that Bren will have yelled or called out that he bumped into the invisible gnome thing?

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Yomi advances toward the melee and prepares to strike any visible opponen t.

Move and ready. Eglantine, yes.

Eglantine - in difficult terrain (se)
Elias - healthy / Scathach - bloodied, in difficult terrain (se)
Cyrus
nr - unknown
Catriana - readied attack
Bren
Yomi - readied attack

Female human Rogue 5

Gesturing to Bren to hold still, Eglantine swarms over the log and lashes out at where she hopes the gnome may be. She strikes nothing but empty air. Her anger is so great that it seems to melt the pelting hail as it falls.

Deft Strike v Inviso gnome (1d20+7=10, 1d4+4=6, 2d8=14)

Used Deft Strike (allows a move of 2 before attack) to get to G7. Missed horribly.
Save v personal hailstorm (1d20=19)

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Elias - healthy / Scathach - bloodied, in difficult terrain (se)
Cyrus

nr - unknown
Catriana - readied attack
Bren
Yomi - readied attack
Eglantine

Female human Rogue 5

Fabes is computer free except briefly at work at the moment.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Elias moves next to Scathach (and, incidentally, in the presumed direction of the invisible creature). With a word and a caress from his master, Scathach shakes off the worst of his wounds. Elias, meanwhile, prepares to attack. Scathach meanwhile, tries to shake off the hailstorm but again slips.

Move, Minor to spend his own surge on Scathach, Standard to ready attack. Run of bad luck for Scathach.

Meanwhile, the nain rouge (for so he is called) appears behind Eglantine and lashes out with his claws, hitting once and cackling -12hp to Eglantine

Readied attacks: Catriana, Yomi, Elias -- only promising 12 hours in this case for Catriana and Yomi, then will move Elias

Scathach is still in difficult terrain

F Half Elf Bard 4

Catriana aims her wand at the creature and starts chanting arcane words. However, a sudden thunder occurs just as she releases her bolt, causing it to miss.

Impelling Force (vs. Fort); Damage (1d20+7=12, 1d10+5=11)

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Sorry for the delay -- not feeling well in the evenings lately

Even as the nain rouge reappears, it is beset by attacks. Catriana's surge of force misses, however, as does Yomi's sacred flame.

As far as I can see, Elias has no attacks (without changing weapons) that can get to the gnome. Scathach already failed the save (which I should not have rolled until now).

Bren
Eglantine

Elias - healthy / Scathach - in difficult terrain (se)
Cyrus
Catriana
Yomi
nr

Male Human Wizard / 5

I'm so confused, did I miss my turn or are we waiting for readied actions to be worked out.

Cyrus the Mentalist wrote:

Skipped your turn, my deep apologies. You should have gone before it (though note that it was invisible on your turn). Go for it.

Male Human Fighter 5 (Great Weapon Fighter)

If I don't post now, I won't be able to for a while, so I'll do so before Cyrus. Sorry.

I'm assuming I am somewhere near the nain.

The axe-wielding warrior tries to catch a glimpse the phantom-like foe again. If he sees the creature, he moves and swings.

Minor: Perception
1d20+1=11

Move: next to Nain (up to 5 squares)
Standard: Reaping Strike
Attack 1d20+10=16 vs AC
Damage 1d12+5=9
Damage if I miss: 4

Male Human Wizard / 5

You can put me back in the initiative order wherever appropriate, I would've delayed until he reappeared. Move to O7, Maze of Mirrors catching only nr, 1d20+7=11 vs nr Will and if a hit, target is immobilized and -4 to attack rolls until EOMNT.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Sorry, haven't been well. Cyrus, I placed you as if you had delayed.

Cyrus, along with the others, attempts a spell against the gnome immediately after it reappears, but with no better luck. Bren does somewhat better, striking a glancing blow.

Eglantine
Elias - healthy / Scathach - in difficult terrain (se)

Catriana
Yomi
nr
Cyrus
Bren

M Cat 4

Just to check, am I treating everywhere as difficult terrain, or just the fallen tree?
