Including The Crow with Howard The Duck is a mortal insult. I demand Satisfaction, Sir!
I went in wanting to like this movie but alas alien duck turned rockstar turned love interest for lea thompson... I like goofy 80's movies as much as the next guy, but this...ugh.
Our gaming group took a Saturday off to go see The crow. What I got was this dude wearing bad clown makeup uttering just god awful lines. especially the heartfelt conversations between him and the cop. I remember about a quarter of the way through praying that someone would kill that damn bird so we could go home.

The Crow was a faithful reproduction of a classic indie graphic novel, with very well done action sequences and a well done story. It was Brandon Lee's best performance, and would have finally allowed him to break out of c-list action roles, if he hadn't been tragically killed during filming.
The sequels are pure crap, but the first film was a gem in the rough.

Which was probably his secret plan all along.

It's hard to out-dumb "Plan 9 from Outer Space". From the opening narration by 5th-rate mentalist Criswell ("Good evening my friends. We are all very interested in the future, because it is where you and I will be spending... the rest of our lives.") to the breath-takingly terrible dialogue, to the production errors, to using the director's wife's cousin's 6'-tall blond chiropractor as a stand-in for Bela Lagosi, there's really nothing to recommend this film as anything but a very low bar for middle-school film students to surpass.
For all it's numerable faults, Plan 9,and every other Ed Wood film ever made had something worse films made with larger budgets lack... Heart. It's clear in every one of them that Wood is trying his best with his limited skills and resources, and because of that most of them got elevated to cult status. It's a film that I would recommend to an audience with mindsets fixated on anything other then endless criticism.
"Ishtar" and "Blair Witch" are the only films that I actually paid money to see which literally put me to sleep in the theatre.

I quite enjoyed the third movie too. It was a decent 'sequel.' It was similar in theme to the first one... but without being a blatant copy of the first one like part 2 was. 4th the less said the better.
Though actually, I think I may have liked 4 better then 2 as well... but it was pretty far down the scale. 3 stood up well on it's own.

The crow and highlander movies are their own special category. I think every director wants to do a faithful kick-arse sequel, but then realizes they aren't able and go somewhere out in left field with a big f*** it.
Recent Crow and Highlander movies seem to be getting better but they'll never recapture the original movies or TV shows. *sigh*

I'd agree with some of that... the quality of some of those sequels just can't possibly be accidental. The Source felt like it was made under duress by everyone involved. I want to know what kind of blackmail material they had on some of these people...
I still enjoy Highlander 3:The sorcerer... It was about as good a sequel as you can make to the 1st movie. Not GREAT... but it acknowledged what happened, and tried to loophole their way into there being more immortals.
Endgame... wasn't terrible. I hated certain plot points and outcomes... but that was personal (Huge Connor Fan). As a sequel to the series, it hit the notes it needed to hit and brought in the stars it needed to bring in. A few blatant mistakes that contradict the show in frustrating ways... But it was decemt.

Here's a trifecta winner!
Dumb and Bad and Made By a Major Player (Howard Hughes) trying to make a good movie.
-- The Conqueror --
Starring John Wayne as Ghengis Khan!
Wayne actually lobbied to star in this turkey. It was filmed downwind from a nuclear weapons test site, and Hughes paid millions to get every print and hide them until his death.
You can't go wrong with great lines like, "My blood boils for this Tartar wench." - delivered with all the passion of someone ordering a corn-dog.

Pan wrote:lol Kirk Cameron saves x-masSpeaking of, which is worse: the Kirk Cameron Left Behind, or the Nic Cage one?
Kirk's was at least SIMILAR to the book... a few things switched up to cram 2 or 3 books into one movie...
Nic's wasn't even close. The reused 2 or 3 names and called it 'close enough'...

This movie is legendary for it's badness... and as a huge John Wayne fan, I REALLY want to see it someday and revel in the terribleness. Seems hard to find though... I only ever HEARD about it when people list off either terrible movies or poorly cast movies...

I have a problem... With Battlefield Earth. It is an iconic eat your brain and shit it out for breakfast movie. It is John Travolta's act of faith in Scientology. It is by all accounts macabre in quality, with a plot that moves at the speed of dumb.
And yet... I WILL NOT pay money to see it, nor contribute to giving money for it. So, I would have to find another way to see it.
And if I do, I know I will never in my life unsee it.
So, I can't really say much about it...

Mario van Peebles -- worst villain ever. And Highlander 4 was just an ad for the TV show.
I like the Highlander movies, from most to least, in exactly the order they were released.

People keep mentioning that there were other Highlander movies, but..
"...there can be only one..."
Right?

Well... if Ad, you mean love letter, then you'd be right. The series (and spinoff) had long ended before Endgame came out.
However, it was intended to be a passing of the torch from Lambert to Paul and get away from Connor and aim more toward Duncan.
Which, was what fans were hoping for since the tv pilot. Seeing both MacLeods on the screen was great... killing one was NOT great. So yeah... it was definitely for the fans of the TV show... but I wouldn't call it an 'ad' for it, since that was quite finished before the show ever hit the theaters.
It was more an 'endcap' to the series than anything else.
HL2 was campy and fun and didn't take itself (or the idea of a "franchise") too seriously. And Connery hammed it up to 11. I loved it.
Highlander 2 was a terrible sequel.... but it was a half-way decent sci-fi movie. It had some fun parts and Connery was a blast to watch. Unlike the Source... Highlander 2 has a few redeeming qualities that I enjoy.
But a truly terrible 'sequel'. It has to be watched on it's own merits.

I viewed it as a very successful self-parody, rather than as a failed sequel. Much like Steven Seagal playing "Cock-Puncher" in The Onion Movie. (Yeah, it's really him, and yeah, he's really spoofing his own movies.)

That's just ripping off Mark Hamill playing "Cock Knocker" in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

Missed that one. "Clerks" was OK; I didn't like Mallrats or Chasing Amy or Dogma, so I pretty much gave up on Kevin Smith films until Zack & Miri (which I mostly liked because I lived in the town where they were filming).

Besides, as I said, the Wayans can put out entertaining movies. I'm Gonna Git You Sucka may not be Major League, but it's at least Triple-A.
I don't know if they count as 'Wayans' movies, but movies with Wayans in them can be good. I liked The Last Boy Scout, for instance.
A Wayans also voiced Wasabi, from Big Hero Six (and, oddly, is the only voice actor from that movie that doesn't look like his character. They could seriously film a live-action Big Hero Seven with the voice actors!).

I actually agree that Highlander 3 was probably the best sequel they could do without a total screwing with the first. It was a better sequel by far than Highlander 2.
It is a crazy huge amount of a better sequel then highlander 4 OR 5 (did anyone watch 5 besides me?).
Highlander 2 is a much more fun movie to watch on it's OWN as an independent film away from the rest of the series. In that, it's actually a LOT of fun as some sort of weird sci-fi/fantasy mesh.
It just is a horrible and horrendous sequel. As it's own film, it's actually kind of enjoyable.
I hated Highlander 4 in regards to the rest of the film trilogy before it.
It has no purpose, no reason, and kills the TRUE champion of the tournament.
If you IGNORE that HL 1 and 3 ever happened...
Then HL 4, the movie really is the perfect endcap to the series. It makes for a great series movie...and a culmination of it.
The sequel to HL 4, it's okay...not great. It concludes things...and the prize at the end is totally different than what was in the movies.
But if seen from the series point of view...that's okay.

Dumb and bad are two different things.
But I'd you want bad. I mean dear god let my intestines leap up and strangle my brain to make it stop bad...
Colman Francis.
Trust me on this. Others have suffered so you don't have to.
I'll take Coleman Francis and raise you: William 'One Shot' Beaudine. Even on Poverty Row, how did that man ever become a director??
I also keep hearing about an animated film named FOOD FIGHT that is apparently the Necronomicon of bad animated films. Part of me wants to see it just to learn if it's worse than that one 'Titanic' movie with the rapping dog, gangster sharks, and giant octopus that saves everyone.

It's actually titled Birdemic: Shock and Terror, but I understand - you simply got the name wrong because your brain is trying so hard to forget. I'm sorry you had to see that mess.
At least it was kind of funny in that "Oh my god this is so terrible" way, unlike Birdemic 2: The Resurrection which was just regular terrible.
