Put me in coach, I'm nice!

Grand Lodge

So, fullblade Warblade Kirth? :)

The wife should be along sometime to suggest something,

Sovereign Court

heh, there's the always popular "A wizard did it."

did they piss a wizard off and get dropped here to suffer or die, but are lucky enough to show up when a group that might be friendly to elves is in town?

Came in as guards on the other caravan. Perhaps guarding the very box we are looking for.

Grand Lodge

I can roll Ardelaneu as a human barbarian caravan guard if that is easier Kirth.

"Easier" doesn't necessarily indicate "better," though... and having slept on it I have a better idea that I'll share with you via email. ;D

Grand Lodge

I'd better go get my towel.

Grand Lodge

Still on for tomorrow? We should be there between 7 and 8.

Sovereign Court

Did any of you guys find a plastic expandable file folder lying around at the con? It would have contained a lot of Pathfinder soft cover books. If someone found it please send me a shout out.

Okay! See you then. That time should be perfect -- it gives us time to catch up from last week so that we're ready to fit you in as well.

Sounds like it'll be a smaller game overall -- there's some kind of bug going around, and it sounds like Silverhair got bit. To anyone who is sick/coughing: stay home and rest! Get better, and we'll see you on the 5th.

I am sorry, I do not recall seeing one.

Liberty's Edge

I probably have a baby coming today or tomorrow (the preliminary stuff is happening) so, um, yeah.

Catch y'all next week?

:)

Still waiting, huh? I kept checking your facebook over the weekend.

Oh, yeah! Knew it was any day now... see you when you can make it.

Say hi to China for us in the meantime. Hope everything goes well.

Silverhair's not going to make it either...still on?

Grand Lodge

If you want to cancel, let me know before 3-4, so we don't waste a tank of gas. Email me and it should go to my Blackberry.

Since TOZ and cyzzane are coming this week, that's still four people, so we should still have a good group. Unless Kirth vetoes, I don't see any reason to cancel.

I agree -- with a 3-player "quorum," 4 players is just right. It's quite possible that Verac ate too much local cuisine, and Fiachra fell afoul of the local religious fanatics by speaking Mabrahoring without being an ordained priest, but the others are still at liberty. Full speed ahead!

Had a great time, last night! I'm also excited about next week!

We should have all six players at the table next week, and the action should start pretty early in the session. Hopefully Silverhair feels better soon and Derek is a dad soon.

Liberty's Edge

Derek is a dad. :)

Derek is also dog tired...

So, now I need a synopsis of last night's festivities :)

Congratulations!

As for a synopsis...everytime we had an important d20 roll, we rolled no higher than a 5. The entire night.

And this is different than a typical Monday how, exactly?

We are some of the unluckiest gamers I've ever met, roll-wise...

;)

Synopsis:

  • With Virac out of action with the stomach flux after eating the local food, and Fiachra confined to quarters when it comes out that he's been speaking Mabrahoring without being an ordained priest, it was up to Trog and Jazeed to meet the new caravan. Unfortunately, the box didn't arrive with this caravan.
  • Amidst preparations for some kind of parade, Jazeed met the chief of police for Xandiev City (a pleasant, portly fellow with Linguistics as a hobby) for tea and was introduced to a nasty, dark-robed, self-proclaimed "adventurer" named Kaalgis Borr.
  • Shortly thereafter, a pair of elves from Estren (special guest stars), hired to steal the same box you all are after, snuck into the city... only to be discovered by Kaalgis Borr. Borr bragged that the box was stolen by Berbers and delivered to him. Jazeed and Trog intervened at this point; Borr, annoyed, pulled out a wand of some kind and opened fire at Jazeed. Unfortunately, the DM forgot to give Borr the Precise Shot feat, and the chief of police was standing right behind Jazeed... well, 5d6 lightning + 4d6 sneak attack later, the chief of police is dead and the whole city is searching for a pair of "elven demons" who have "assassinated the beloved chief of police."
  • Evading police patrols (and killing one that Trog walked directly into), the four leave the city and visit the mausoleum city of standing stones about a mile north of town. It is clear that the Berbers frequent this place, as well as some sort of Medium-sized, clawed bipeds who apparently eat unwary Berbers. It seems that there might be spaces underneath the mausoleum-city, but the group hasn't had much luck locating any entrances.
  • Jazeed also managed to secure costumes for the parade! Knowing that gorilla suits and Humpty-Dumpty costumes are local favorites, the party chose something less obvious: Trog will be masquerading as a Berber, and the others will have costumes identical to Kaalgis Borr's black robes-and-scarf.

  • And I still have the deal with Jazeed to shoot him in the face the next day for helping us hide. Maybe we can work out an extension.

    Scarab Sages

Kingmaker, eh? Not sure I'm cut out for that...

It appears that Silverhair's coughing was due to the extremely high tree pollen count and not an infectious disease. So he assures me that we will be there next week. In the words of an important historical character, "Here I come to save the day!!!!!"

    Glad you're feeling better!

You'll need that big guy, once the Berbers get organized against you...

    Grand Lodge

Interesting discussion of going oldschool here.

Collected data for rewriting the Cleric. Spheres need to be balanced out, and I want to tie them to domains. My plan is to have each cleric have their spells known list determined by their deity's domains, as in, they get access to all the spells for that domains sphere. Clerics that do not worship a god would select a smaller number of domains to be their list, trading a larger number of known spells for the ability to cherry pick instead of having their god select them. Then they pick two domains to gain the powers of. Also want to throw the Cloistered Cleric variant and Holy Warrior variants in there somewhere to give more versatility. Also want to write up some capstones for a 20th level reward since clerics did get screwed out of that.

I'm working on the druid (per your request last session) currently -- looking at a single modular base class that can cover for the druid, druidic avenger (UA), druidic hunter (UA), spirit shaman (CD) and greenbond (AU). I'd very much like to see what you come up with for the cleric.

    Grand Lodge

Awesome, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I've been pondering what tweaks could be done to the druid as well. I know the wizard hardly needs it, but I want to tinker with that too.

For clerics, you might check out this thread as well. The final product will need to be modified a bit for Pathfinder vs. 3.5, but it provides a system for cleric options in BAB, skill points, armor, etc.

    Grand Lodge

I've actually got that in the files section of the group. :P I plan on referencing it, of course.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAA!!!!

    Ok, I'll be there tomorrow.

Did I miss something? Aren't we playing on Monday or did it change to Tuesday?

    My game is still Monday...

He posted at 2:30 in the morning. That's still "tomorrow" to someone still planning on going to bed.

    Someone stayed up too late.

Like I should talk. I got about half the sleep I needed this weekend. :D

    Grand Lodge

We didn't get to bed until 3-4 last night.

NO, not for that reason. :P

    Insomnia is a b!tch.

Also, we will be there. I had to reschedule my Algebra class, but it worked out. We should be down there about the same time as last week.

A simple read languages on the documents recovered from the Berbers' den reveals the following:

  • Kaalgis Borr was a founding member of the self-titled "Lords of Woe," a alliance of Aramnic crime bossess and warlords. Their purpose was, according to their compact, to (a) delineate areas of concern and non-competition, and (b) facilitate coordinating their efforts in the event of large undertakings.
  • One large goal at present is listed as the destabilization of the elflands, which supposedly will lead to the opening of a large black market there, as well as potential clandestine military efforts that should receive large amounts of funding from the Aramnic Premier.
  • The Lords of Woe numbered four (until Borr blew up): Kaalgis Borr, Brocal Malann, Ulatar Sandiss, and Fallax Marovay.

Jazeed can attempt a DC 25 Diplomacy check to recognize Sandiss' name and gain some info on him.
Fiachra can attempt a DC 25 Spellcraft check to recognize Marovay's name and gain some info on him.
Anyone with ranks in Streetwise as a class skill can attempt to DC 25 check to recognize Malann's name and gain some info on him.

P.S. Derek and Silverhair -- there would have been a fifth Lord of Woe, but I already ran that adventure with you guys -- he killed the whole party.

  • Of particular interest to Fiachra are hints in the documents that one of the eastern Elf-Lords (Corundum River Valley -- your home county) might be open to alliance with the Lords of Woe. They speak poorly of elves in general, and don't trust this particular lord too far, but there you have it.

    Trog:

    Spoiler:
Trog of course can't read even with magic, but Jazeed tells her a nice story from Borr's personal journal about one of his trips to Kaisersburg. Evidently he agreed to kill a human guy there that the other Lords of Woe didn't like. He blasted the man with lightning and then also killed his wife, a wood elf squaw, for good measure (or maybe just for fun). He describes his amusement over this incident in great detail.
