Alpha Release 2 General Discussion

Paizo Employee Director of Games

Hey there everybody,

Just thought I would give a quick update as I have been rather quiet for the past week or so. Work on release 3 is proceeding apace and it has kept me from engaging in many discussions here. I have been reading threads, however, good stuff across the board.

Release 3 will hopefully be ready next week. Keep your eyes peeled.

More to come soon.

Thanks for the update.

Keep up the great work Jason and gang. ;o)

A quick question: Given that Alpha 3 is coming out in a week/week and a half, is there going to be design notes like there was was for Alpha 1.1?(I guessing not.)

And another, are you going to give us small teasers like for Alpha 2? I liked them and they fight off the insanity for a little bit while we're waiting.

While teasers do indeed tease to a level of near insanity as impatience takes over, I second this request. I'd love some stuff on the monk, especially.

Thanks for the update! I'm really looking forward to seeing the ranger and bard, amongst other things.

Now go home and catch up on your TiVo or something! Sheesh, do they chain you to your desk? ;)

Oh good. I was worried you got burned out by the drama, quit, and got a job at the laundry mat down the street.

Scarab Sages

Jason said no Dev Notes for the Alpha 2 because he didn't want to lose his sanity... I would guess that will be the case for Alpha 3 as well.
(I would like them too but Jason is working hard enough as it is...)

Thanks Jason!

Well, at least he wasn't hired away by WotC so they could kill Pathfinder in a non-GSL/OGL/d20 STL method.

Thanks for the update jason

Will Alpha 3 be the last release until the Beta book? Or will there be updates and tweaks along the way?

Thanks for the update! Can't wait for the Ranger/Bard goodness!

Awesome.

And it has been strangely quiet, hasn't it? The most drama I've seen is somebody thinking someone on the boards was someone slipping past the ban.

I think monks and bards are (1) less common and (2) more generally acknowledged to need some tinkering. I bet Jason could've stirred up some excitement by giving the ranger class a sneak preview, though. :)

Personally, I'm hoping that Planar Binding and Gate (especially) will be the next spells to get hit with the nerf bat, but I'm not holding my breath.

Let's say I have 9 Con. I don't think a change to those spells is going to come out in the next 18 rounds (or less).

Thanks Jason cant wait to see all the new stuff

Cool, thanks for the update!

I sure hope so! My game is on Sunday and I want some new bard tricks!

This week or next week?

We got two different answers in this thread and on the blog.

Thanks for the update, Jason.

Damn! I was hoping to have it this week. I am flying out Saturday morning for a week's vacation in Hawaii, and I thought PFRPG alpha 3 would be good reading during the flights.

Plus, I wanted to be geeky and send back pictures of me reading it on the beach, near the volcano, etc.

Missed opportunities.......:(

Hey there everybody,

Unfortunately, I am going to have to confirm that release 3 will not be available until next week. Sorry for the delay.

RAAAAH! KRUNK SMAAAAAAAAASH!!!!

EEExxxcellent.

Googling Kinkos....Kona....hmmmmm.

Coolness!
Both me & the wife are waiting with baited breath! (Hers is mint-scented, while mine is more of an italian-food sort of scent right now!)
BWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!!!!!!!

Sovereign Court

Ah, unfortunate. But then I would much rather wait a week for a full-quality release than an immediate one with errors.

Jason, when I go for fast food and have to wait, its a delay. When a master chef comes out and says 'Itsa gona be a bit longa. I'mma makin somthin special for yous lovely peoples." , it just means anticipation will make the food taste even better when I do get it.

Relax and have a good weekend. We'll be here whenever you're ready.

A monk teaser before the A3 release, please? Pretty please with sugar on top? ;)

**Taps foot impatiently**

To tell the truth, I'm glad it won't come out until next week, I've got exams and I don't think I could resist the temptation of downloading and that would lead to more problems...
