I am well aware that when someone starts a discussion with, "I am not trying to be a ____, but" it usually means they are, in fact, a ____. I hope to be an exception.
I don't mean to be a spoilsport, but how many people on these forums, or who are among the 15,000 downloads of Pathfinder Alpha 2 so far, plan on buying the release product?
I am generally pleased with everything I've seen, and I can't think of a single change I dislike. However, it's one thing to see Pathfinder (or, for that matter, Dungeons and Dragons 4) as an improvement over what is currently available and another to consider it such a notable improvement as to be worth a purchase.
For the sake of the gaming industry in general, and the obvious hard work of the people at Paizo in particular, I hope my discussion is met with dozens or hundreds of pledges to purchase the finished product. I just want to be honest - I like it and I like it more than DnD 3/3.5/what I've seen of 4, but I don't like it enough to buy.

I'll definitely buy the Pathfinder Beta (already pre-ordered), and the final Pathfinder product next year. Even if there are updates not to my liking, it will still be better than both current 3.5 and 4.0. Based on my liking for Paizo's work in general, starting with the Shackled City hardcover, I can't imagine being so dissatisfied with any aspect of their 3.x update that it would keep me from wanting to play the final version.
Edit: I'm also pushing Pathfinder RPG on my players, emailing them small chunks of updates and letting them know when each new Alpha version is available for download. They're probably getting sick of hearing "Pathfinder Alpha!" from me, but I work hard so they can have fun so on this one they'll just have to deal ;)

I'm definitely buying. Before the Alpha release I was burnt out as a DM, and let another member of my group take over for a bit. Playtesting sessions have sparked my interest in sitting behind the screen again, gotten the blood up, and I'm having a great time.
The very fact that Jason and the other great people at Paizo are willing to allow us an active role in the development of the product, and actually let us see what is going on, goes a long way for me.

As I don't plan on going to 4e, and there won't be other 3.5 material out there, I'll certainly be picking it up. I don't know if I'll be buying the beta as it will still be a free pdf, but the hardcover will grace my bookshelf as soon as possible. Given that all Pathfinder material will be converting to PRPG in August 09, I won't have much of a choice, since I don't plan on canceling my subscriptions any time soon.

I pre-ordered the Beta and plan to preorder PRPG after I get that. Probably gonna get 2 at least just to help Paizo some, and I plan on buying everything PRPG related afterward also.
I am trying to make Paizo strong. Maybe strong enough to make WotC sell the D&D license and maybe strong enough to buy that license. Of course the build up will take a long time but you gotta start somewhere.

I will buy. I've had my Beta AND my release hardbounds preordered for quite some time. I have three more hardbounds I am going to need to get for my kids ...
I am probably more of a fluff guy than a mechanics guy, and I *love* the fluff. The art, the characters, and the "feel" of the game bring back a love of roleplaying for me that hasn't been here since I cracked open the Player's Handbook way back in 1978. I honestly feel that everything that I want in the game (the feel, the flavor, the sense of created by loving and respectful hands) is all here.
How can you NOT want to buy it? :D

I'm buying both the Beta and the Final versions, because I think the project merits financial support and because I don't actually own the 3.5 WotC books. I'd rather my dollars go here.

So am I 45?
I actually will probably only use bits and pieces of the rules rather than the whole thing, but there's enough that I like that I'm willing to give them money for the work. It may be more "Thanks for doing this work, here's some money. Oh, look, I get a book for my donation!" mentality, but with how useful the bits I plan on using will be to my enjoyment of the game, it's worth giving them some money for it.
Plus, as a freelance writer hoping to use these rules in my writing, I'll take it in PDF and hardcopy form since both are useful depending on where I'm working at the time.

Haha. :)
I didn't realize until I read this that there were going to be two different books, so reading comprehension-- on me I guess.
Now that I have, "yes" on the beta. I really like the product so far, as seen in alpha, I like that Paizo's staff opened it up for discussion and playtesting, and I want to see the somewhat-finished version they come up with.
I personally hated that Wizards released "preview" books like Races and Classes, so I think it's awesome Paizo has enough confidence in their product to release the beta as a free pdf while also offering the option of a really reasonably priced softcover. A pdf on the computer just doesn't compare to a real book in your hands.
As for the hardcover version, I want to say "yes", but the answer is really "it depends on how much I like 4e". I'll be honest and say that while Paizo is my favorite D&D publisher by far, I'm intrigued by 4e and will buy it when it comes out.
If I switch to 4e, then I won't have much use for it, even though I will still buy the adventure paths and companion books, no matter what edition they are, for the high-quality settings, ideas, artwork, etc.
I have to add that while I understand that publishing quality books takes time, I wish it was the hardcover, finished version of Pathfinder that was coming out this August. Right now, 3.5 is still my system, and I know Paizo will make it 10x better. But by next August, 4e will have been out more then a year, and if it's fun, I'll have a well-established game going for that.
I wish my answer was a little more gung-ho, because I do think Paizo releases the best D&D stuff out there, but there you go.

No way. Even the alpha version is too far beyond 3.5e for my tastes. Some of the changes are interesting, but most are simply unnecessary. I wanted fixes for a couple of minor bugs and that's all. I won't be buying the Pathfinder RPG for the same reason I'm not buying 4e.
But at least Paizo didn't diss the gaming community like WotC. For that, at least, I'm grateful.

I have pre-ordered 1 copy of the soft cover beta, and will use that and the pdf's to discuss options with my group (me the dm, 6 players, 2 occasional fill-ins).
I will buy at least 2 of the hard cover (me and a spare).
If my group does go PRPG, that is 6 more copies. Based on what I have seen so far and knowing my guys, we probably will.

I like many of the changes being introduced by the Pathfinder RPG and will most likely buy the product. I expect that at least one member of my gaming group will also buy it and perhaps more. If I do buy it, it will be my first purchase from Paizo. Up till now I have been exclusively a WotC D&D customer and if I remember correctly I have never bought a third party product before. With the advent of 4E, however, this has changed. 4E is making both rules and flavor changes I dislike and does not feel like D&D any more to me at least. Seeing the quality that Paizo is putting into the Pathfinder RPG and the fact that they maintain D&D flavor, I may well buy more Paizo products in the future.
