Correct.

Grant, we're still holding out for Ameiko!

I do think DM G's artwork is nice. I like the original artwork as well, particularly the monsters. I still think that Savage Tides' artwork was the bomb! A would have killed for a poster of Orcus on the cover sheet to "Enemies of My Enemy." The picture of Shami-Amourae had just enough of a human feel to her in the apendix of "Wells of Darkness" and I like how all the Succubi were distinctly different, yet they all were plainly succubi. One of my favorite pictures is the headshot of Grbleck. It takes a member of a race that we have longed considered just monsters and gives it emotion and presence. I felt that Grbleck was almost regal and was surprised to find out that he was a frightened pawn. I only have two of my magazines out here with me, but I have liked the Savage Tide artwork and the other artwork thoughtout those issues in general. Although DM G's work is extremely awesome, I am not disappointed in the artwork in RF's. But I am glad Shalu's ears are being shortened, and I do like the no whites, only color eyes for the elves.

Just wanted to say I'm keeping an eye on this thread too - great stuff!

I had a slide show of iconic/etc. pics running during my last game, with both Shelelu's (PF and Grant's) - Player's unanimously said "I like that one [Grant's] better!" without prompting.

Thanks, guys! :)
You'll be happy to know that I'm working on an Ameiko pic right NOW. I'll post a link as soon as I'm done.

Alrightee... I drew Ameiko.. I'm sure some of you aren't gonna like it (it's pretty different from the version of her in the book), but this is my interpretation of her, so... here ya go:

I'm not sure what I expected, because I disliked the other one so much.. but I like it! Very cool!

Wow, that Ameiko picture is great, man.

I'll definitely be using these when I run Pathfinder. Good stuff. Would love to see more.

Seriously, great work.

Add me to the list of people who love this art. That picture of Ameiko is definitely something I can use.

For art styles in general, I think what I prefer is that the art actually be representative of the subject matter. For example, the reason I'm not so appreciative of WAR's character portraits is because I can never tell what race they're supposed to be. When I take a look at some of the big multi-character pieces inside the front covers of the Eberron books, I can't tell if some of those figures are Aerenal elves, humans, "furries," or something else. And if I can't tell what it is I'm looking at, how can I use it as something to show my players, to say "This is what you see"?

With all that said, the art in this thread so far is wonderful, and I'd love it if the character portraits in Pathfinder started going more to this style instead. (If not in this path, maybe in the 2nd one?)

This man needs a job. (Hint, hint, Paizo people...)

I like this version better, but not because it looks better. More because it fits the NPC. The Ameiko in the PF 1 looks like a rambunctous teenager, not a travelled adventurer. G's picture looks like an adventurer. While the PF pictures look cool, they don't always reflect the chacter. So you see a picture and then read about the character and the picture doesn't match the feeling. Just a little pet peeve. I normally don't use pictures anyway in my tabletops. I just use description. At the end of the night, I'll open the table to pictures so the players can see if their imgination fit the monster, but unless the party is really having trouble getting a mental picture, I let them draw their own pictures. I think that has an amazing effect at the table.

YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Awesome! MUCH better rendition of Ameiko. I'll echo Majuba; my game group liked your renditions of Belor and Shalelu much better.

Keep up the good work, we really appreciate it.

Great job! That image fits her character really well. Yay!

That is amazing work. I'm particularly fond of Sherrif Hemlock. That's exactly how I pictured him. I had this old friend I roleplayed with, and I pictured he'd like like him (similar personalities and such).

The Druid is also very striking for me.

I'd enjoy seeing your work in upcoming issues myself.

Excellent stuff! I'll be using your art in my game too.
I am really hoping that you can find more spare time to make more of these. :-)

HAWT!

Thanks again for all the nice words, folks :) I'm glad ya like the art!

Super nice drawings :)

Just adding my 2cp... these are great. I'll definitely be using Ameiko, since it's difficult to show people a page inside of the book and saying "just don't read the text" (for example, my PCs now know what Sinspawn are called, and their monster type/size). Plus, this one looks experienced, tough, and cool. The other one was a little cartoony for my tastes.

Just an idea for the Paizo guys: Any thoughts on doing a 'gallery' like Wizards, so that we can just print a full-page Sinspawn or the picture of the Skinsaw Man without having to use the actual book as the visual?

That's on the to-do list, but that list is many pages long and the stuf in front of "set up an art/map supplement for Pathfinder" is not as MISSION CRITICAL as the stuff in front of it.

Until then, of course, you can always snag the art right out of the PDF version of Pathfinder.

Just a note to all the Paizo guys reading this --
If you wanna use any of my pics in the books, shoot me an email - grantgoboom@gmail.com - I'd be honored to have any of it used. :)

DM G, I only just came across this thread - you have posted some awesome art here my friend, very cool!

I'm a player in pbp game of rotrl, haven't seen a lot of the interior art in the book, so these are a great visual aid for me. Thanks for sharing your work.

This is not my artwork, but that of one of my players... And as GM I'm pretty proud of it.

They have a druid who uses the shapeshifting variant for druids in the PHB2. The goblins are particular terrifiedof his wolf form. And we also have a Cleric of Iomedae.

They have formed an adventuring company called the "Wolves and Sandpoint" and this is an image they created for their badge.. and they also did a really neat graphic. Check it out!

Charter of the Wolves of Sandpoint

It just came out this morning, and they might tweak it, but being graphically inept myself, I'm pleased as punch.

Very cool!! I dig it :D

That's awesome! I had a similar idea to possibly initiate the adventurers as the "Sentinels of Sandpoint," and I think this kind of above-and-beyond recognition should be a great idea to pump them heroes' egos very well.

I don't know about you guys, but I've just put the RSS feed for this thread on my watch list.

Just sayin'

I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far and I, too, want to see more.

:)

Well, the sleeveless cropped mesh blouse was an interesting choice. It's nice artwork. Not a clothing style I would have picked myself, but it is still a good piece of art.

Mine are the "Sisters of Sandpoint" - 3 human women, 1 elf woman, and a male dwarf. Poor dwarf.

I would switch place with that Dwarf anytime!

I bet he has to endure a lot of jokes about size.

He probably hears things like, "If you would just add three inches..."

Poor dwarf. ;)

I'm by no means the best artist but here's my first stab (I'm sure there will be more) of my Pathfinder character Emyralda Mvashti, the battledancer;

Clicky ^^

Coloured entirely in MSPaint as I'm a glutton for punishment like that >.>

Nice! Colored in MSPaint? :O

Yup, I'm a lil crazy like that.. I should really try colouring her in photoshop at some point but I can't help limiting myself to MSPaint tools as a challenge sometimes. That and I have a tendancy to overwork a piece if I'm given all the photoshop tools to play with - I should never be allowed too many toys!!

Really really cool!

I am trying to get my players to do more...

Just use the pencil tool in photoshop. I did that for the DeviantArt Pixel Fighter ID meme that's floating around.
