Thanks a lot for the compliment, Utak, always nice to hear. i do enjoy posting as a devil child that has no idea he's a devil. Writing for any length sounds too tough. I'm way too visual. Plus, I like the muck of painting, the color on my hands, charcoal under my fingernails, etc. Can't get that from a keyboard unless its really dirty.
I am really enjoying Guudwyn's posts as well. I am guessing that you're a creative player tactically and diplomatically in a PnP game. loved it when you told the stutterer that the boy that got only one silver should run the errand. Very cool.
My wife is also a painter. It is mainly just a hobby, but I am always astounded when she brings home a new work. Her wedding gift to me was a painting of this scottish castle that she picked out of one of my castle calendars. She added a lake and set it against a clouded sunset. It now rests in my library where I can view it as I type this.
Thank you also for the compliment. Alas, I do not see too much PnP much anymore, but when I did play I would love to run the gambit of bruiser hack n slash to Mr. All-About-The-Skills. Just wait until I give the kid the letter. He's going to get a gold piece for his troubles.

The more artists in the world, the better. I've painted a number of paintings for my wife but when I would put them in a show, inevitably, someone would want to buy them. She allowed it, reasoning that it was better to pay for heat and food.
Maybe some day, if Shamgar and I are in Penn we'll stop by for a marathon session. It seems that you would fit ncely in our PnP group.

Guudwyn wrote in other thread...
"I thought your response showed great philosophy. Once again, a post I really enjoyed reading. Especially dependency equaling terminable part. Very thought provoking. Sometimes, I really wish I lived in Michigan to sit at your table."
Its easier here than at the table, isn't it? More time to come up with the words. In our PnP, I am more of a blatherer, as Shamgar would attest to.

There is something to be said for these PbP games. I cant believe how much time I spend on some of my posts. I start writing, and before I know it, 1/2 hour has gone by or sometimes even more. In one PnP game, I played an illiterate barbarian named Throg maxed out in strength & constitution. All he would say is "THROG - SMASH - BOOOOOM!" Then swing his axe. He was fun to play. Sometimes, if there is a bug in the house, I'll pretend I am Throg. My wife just shakes her head. Then I laugh and go looking for another bug.
Magnus, by the way, just wondering if you have an online gallery?

Yeah, you can find it here. My work doesn't fall into the fantasy genre. I am working now exclusively on portraiture based on my clients' antique family photos. My website is a decent representation of my work although, because it is run by a friend of mine for free, it is not as up to date as it should be. Let me know what you think...your wife too. Under "recent work", the first pic of a woman and a baby, is the most recent and more in line with the work I am doing now.
I like the word "Throg", very emotive.

When the hell did a pyramid come from? Shamgar leaves town for a couple of days and the whole story goes crazy.

Hey Magnus,
I really love your website and your work. Thank you for sharing. Your paintings really brought out a sense of memory and loss for me. While viewing, they brought me back to my own past achievments and failures.
Thank you

Wow. Leave the candy store unlocked and when you come back there are...Pyramids?!? Who knew? :)

Well, now that the wfh (week from hell) is over, I should be able to be a bit more consistent again. I will still have some challenging days (far fewer if I can actually get anyone to say YES to giving me a job that I need) I should be able to do at least 2/day now and hopefully three.
On a totally unrelated note, my 3 year old got to ride for 10 minutes in an honest to goodness real helicopter this weekend. The father in law for the wedding we went to owns one and has a pilot's license. He offered to take Bryce up in the two seater and away they went. A terrifying but utterly cool moment as a parent as I jealously watched. :)

Just checking in. The game is really getting intriguing. The characters are alot of fun to interact with. Now our esteemed DM has already asked us how we are liking the story, I would like to know if our DM is having a good time? Are we throwing enough curve balls at you, or are we falling right into your devious plans?
| Crimson Conquest DM |
<insert appropriate sinister laugh here> :)
Thanks for asking.
I'm enjoying the game. No curveballs really, though I must admit I am glad to see how well played the characters are. The details some of you notice and utilize fully in character are magnificent. Just a small example is the manner in which you entered the hotel room, searched, and blessed the food. Nice. It is very nice to have my world interacted with so fully and so well at the same time.
I was telling Magnus earlier that DMing a PbP takes more time than I thought would. As a player in one, I spend maybe 10 min a day. As a DM it takes me 30-60 minutes to respond to a full round of posts. That is more true when you are separate and less so when (like now) when you are together. Overall it is taking about an hour a day to do 'right' I think. I'm good with that, but it is a somewhat surprising adjustment.
I'm also looking forward to seeing where this goes. Though I certainly have plot ideas and plans, I am a big fan of letting your characters drive the story. That is part of why nothing really seems like a curveball to me. Having time to respond doesn't hurt either, which is something you guys have mentioned as well.
My whole goal is to make sure you guys are finding things interesting and motivating and that you are having fun. Hopefully that continues to be the case for a long time.

I am loving all the options so far, we got the merchant, the store I dubbed the 'safe house', Rasmus himself, the strange boy and his family and now the upper class inn with some potential for espionage. I think we should have plenty to do for quite some time you doing a great job and I can't wait to see what is next.
| Utak |
I have been around, but I felt like I might be monopolizing the game so I was just sitting back and waiting for others to join in. Anyways, Guudwyn has done pretty much everything he needs to until the merchant arrives. He is probably finishing off a big meal and taking his good ol' time:)

Hey Shamgar,
Really nice post. That guard seemed so real and alive.
Thanks for the compliment Utak. Hopefully the trend will continue. Description really is my most difficult challenge, especially in PnP. Here I have a chance to focus on it a bit. I'm still nowhere near the level of someone like, say, Fatespinner when it comes to description. I feel like I hold my own in other areas, but that has always been a challenge for me. Mostly a patience thing probably, since I have very little. :)

Actaris said,
You can see the creature that just escaped from the kobolds fairly well (Scrumble, now would be a good time to describe yourself).
What winged thing are you refering to? Apologies if I'm being a little thick. I haven't had a lot of sleep and its alergy season.
So far Initiative is thus:
Anarath 19
Corvin
Dohlrok 3
There's kobolds in the room...and winged creatures?!?! My spot check sucks but I didn't think I could miss something like that in a small room.

LOL, Magnus you are too funny.

Do you mean you like the term or the actual posting the wrong threads?
I'm just being silly. I was tired when I read it. When I read 'oog', it didn't come to me that you meant 'out of game', I just thought you mistyped 'ooc'. Still kind of new to these net acronyms.

Hey Magnus I have a suggestion for when you 'think' in your posts put your thoughts in single quotes and what you character says in double quotes.
'Never really like him' -- thought
"Hey look out" -- spoken
That what I have been doing and I guess I should ask and see if it makes it easier to read or not but in my mind is does. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will do so in the future. i do think it makes it easier to understand.

Just want to mention, havn't posted because I did not want to interrupt the action and also give other characters time to shine. Guudwyn is just saying some prayers. Probably pray for 2-3 hours. Can he pick-up any of the spells he cast or does he need to pray longer?
Enjoy the weekend

I believe Heironeous is one of the 'get your spells in the morning' Deities so you will have to wait until then, unfortunately.
And feel free to continue anything you want on the main thread as well. I apologize for leaving three of you effectively out of things for the moment. That should change early in the week.
