New third-party Pathfinder Roleplaying Game releases!
Adventures-a-plenty, class options, monsters and more await in our latest roundup of third-party Pathfinder Roleplaying Game releases!
Beneath the azure skies and warm sun lies another realm, where lightless tunnels hide shadowed secrets and those hungry for power. In "Rise of the Drow", this campaign from Adventureaweek.com spans nearly 500 pages and challenges heroes to not only find the source of raids to the lighted realms, but to stop an ambitious drow elf matron and a whole host of her allies. Unfamiliar territory will force your character to be on their guard, and with a canny, powerful, ruthless foe at every step, they will need to scour the subterranean caverns for allies who have managed to avoid being crushed by the drow matron Maelora. And if you need more drow in your life, Adventureaweek.com has "The Darkness Arrives" as a prologue to their epic "Rise of the Drow", and they also have a Player's Guide and Underworld Encounter Deck!
Thank you Liz for announcing our massive new book! It's an entire Underworld setting disguised as an adventure and after two full years of development since the original ideas were cultivated, it has arrived. A special mention goes out to my core team who made this possible, these people I find to be truly remarkable individuals, people who have changed my life for the better through their passion for role-playing games- special thanks goes out to my co-author Stephen Yeardley, author and PDF developer Joshua Gullion, and hard core statistical crunching game developer/author Will Myers. These three have helped AaW since day one to forge a solid path through incredible adventures and into setting material which has garnered many 5-star reviews from EZG and other top reviewers. These fine men are my three picks for mates in my adventuring party into the Underworld for I know with them by my side we shall triumph!
Of course I must also pay my respects to master cartographer and friend Todd Gamble who began this journey with me. Thank you for all your incredible art and for somehow being grounded while still floating aloft.
A great many thanks to you and the Paizo staff for posting us on the front page of Paizo. We are truly grateful and appreciative.

ps- Apologies to any who find my early morning grammar and punctuation offensive. It's early and I haven't had my coffee... and for those of you who know us Washingtonians, this is a dangerous path to tread indeed... bring on the coffee!
I can't wait for this! I love the drow and as a GM my players fear and hate them (as they should). I am sure when I toss this on the table there will be a delightful chorus of despair filled groans.
Just gonna chime in here to point out that inside the book we have two brand new domains, dual-system compatibility, a host of fantastic new creatures, incredible fungal forests, terrifying cadres of drow, intense Underworld cities, in-depth exploration tools, troves of new magic items (and new kinds of magic items), batches of new traps and hazards, multiple dungeon crawls, the intricate, complex, multi-leveled and thoroughly detailed final siege, various paths to continue the plot, brand new mundane crafting materials, a numbing list of innovative locales, exciting new rules for the climax of the plot, endless caves of mystery beneath Aventyr, 14 levels of character advancement, and much, much more. :D
And, don't forget that there are lots of add-ons and room for more material. Oh, there are also drow... which, of course, should be enough for *anyone*!
I am glad to have been a part of this. Was super excited to see the Kickstarter keep climbing the way it did. Lots of great industry people chipped in, I was amazed to see all the big names and the amount of 3rd party rockstars that signed up to contribute. Way to rock it out everyone!!
Super congrats to Adventureaweek.com for the great success of this project.
stop an ambitious drow elf matron and a whole host of her allies
Isn't this the plot of almost every drow-related adventure?

Yes! Congrats to Adventureaweek.com for this wonderful project! I am so psyched that I was able to contribute as an illustrator. Such a cool drow offering with so many talented people making it happen. I'm honored!
Hi Toadkiller Dog, it's Stephen here, one of the authors. I (we, all of us who have worked on this) hear exactly what you are saying - yep, the drow are matriarchal, they have ambition, they step up to the plate...sooo, what's new and why should you or anyone else be interested? OK, anyone else reading this: THERE MAY HAVE TO BE A SPOILER OR TWO! So, close your eyes for a few minutes whilst I talk with the Toadkiller, please...
Have they gone? Where was I? Oh yeah, talking about what we did with this. Well, from the outset...
Spoiler:
the aims and ambitions of the drow matron turn out to be a ruse, actually just a subplot to what is going on. She's a pawn being played by the real enemy, the Vidre. And if you don't want to concentrate on them, then one of the matron's children is next in line for your attention: Makinnga is at the head of a possible undead rebellion, with her generals all laid out for you to take advantage of. Don't want them? The next possibility is using the advanced chokers on their flying mounts, a result of mushroom-fuelled enhancement. Or maybe you want to use the giant, fully sentient fungi druid to lead a fightback against all those that endlessly kill and eat his offspring. And so on. We needed something to hang the idea of the Adventure-a-Week underworld onto, and this is it. We think in our minds/hope in your mind if you see this, that we have put together an entire setting, with a dozen or so fully formed protagonists. Of course, you may look and disagree, which could happen, but we hope not, and those good folks at Paizo, who admittedly have the advantage of seeing and reading the book, think so too, which is great for us! I guess future reviews may help, and we're hoping to get them sometime soon. All I can say, Toadkiller, is that this really is much more than the surface seems to present, and "drow matron's ambitions" are very much the beginning.
... and therefore I hope you get to see this, or talk with people who have. Happy gaming and thanks for the question!
